Spent today in pjs and took another 3h nap. I'm a bit worried about being so tired. In the end I DID go to Book Club last night and got home late, so there's that. A was thrilled that I went. I didn't have the heart to tell her that the main reason I went was because a) she asked me to bring back some groceries from the UK and b) I decided I preferred to see her at Book Club, deliver those items, and NOT have to make a special trip to see her this weekend. I found myself resentful that A didn't offer to pick those items up before I decided to go to BC, but just told me there was no rush. I always wondered how long my sense of obligation would go on after her DH's suicide. Apparently it took 3.75 years, because I'm pretty much done with feeling like I HAVE TO visit her. Of course I will always make some efforts because she is a dear friend who went through something horrific. But I FINALLY feel that I no longer have to visit her weekly or even biweekly at this point. I was disappointed to see that I got very few of those items to mark. I may send out a reminder, but it is what it is. Hopefully more will come in over the weekend.
This weekend - Shitepile/Fri
- DH's Quickbooks/Fri
- put up DS2's artwork in his BR/DH's office - mark D class?
Party Sat night for DH's bandmate (the band is playing), DD here for dinner Sun night. Nothing else planned.

You have been a great friend to her and you have been there for her, probably more than she realizes I have found that I feel that my friends in Colorado don't value our friendships as much as I do. I have one who will call me, but all the others wait until I call. When I'm feeling resentful about that, I pull back for a while. I am in that spot presently. Do see a doctor if you keep feeling so tired, please.

I called to get an estimate on painting the house. Nobody wants to come this far so I will be taking photos and emailing those and room dimensions tomorrow.
It's dark and dreary today and I don't think the lighting would give the two places a good idea of the job.
HVAC maintenance got moved to Wednesday as the first job of the day wasn't finished yet at noon. I am the first job of the day on Wednesday.

I picked up a load of boxes today (free) so I can continue packing the garage. We took a box of my moms to goodwill but I still have mine in my car. And fake flowers out to the cemetery ahead of what would have been grandma’s 90th bday next week. The house is a giant mess of boxes and stuff so the goal for the weekend is packing as much as possible. I feel like the 37 page house disclosure I completed should count as decluttering but maybe I’ll just count the house as 1

Today I am finally sending in photo slides and a video to be digitized. I only bought the service from Legacy Box 3 years ago!
I need to get it sent off so I can get it returned before I move. All of the slides came from my grandparent's estate.
The living room is starting to get crazy, I've pulled out a dozen boxes to be filled, now trying to pull things out of shelves and drawers in the bathrooms and kitchen to get packed asap. The garage and yard is my biggest worry at the moment so trying to tackle things step by step. Ideally I'll also get my clothes packed into suitcases this weekend so I can consider the closet "done."

startsmart Check the reviews on the site as I've read that some of places have destroyed people's originals and they end up with nothing. I had bought a groupon for one of the companies that does that and has now changed it's names. Apparently some people are suing them under their original name so I am not sending my pictures off.

Came home late from the party, took laundry up to DS3's room. Stupidly decided to check out the laundry basket upstairs which was full. So started a load with that (and their towels). It's times like this when I'm very tempted to downsize.
Also DD's bathroom drawers are FULL of stuff she hasn't used in years. She's coming for dinner tomorrow so I'm VERY tempted to put it in a bag for her to take home to go through.

TheOtherMe- it's a well known company with a good reputation! I did email them with a question before I send off the box so that will go out next week when I hear back.
A few more boxes are packed and stacked in the closet and I am close to having the bathrooms done. I'm keeping out a number of things for cleaning, personal bathing, and final repairs for things like holes in the walls but it feels like I'm making really good progress.
Laundry is spinning along and I am using most of my towels and blankets as packing material for the boxes. I am up to 160 boxes and we will see how close I get to my initial estimate of 200. I wanted to clean up a bunch of stuff in the garden but we've got thunder rolling in so we might get a storm!
Oh, and WalMart had their ugly bins on sale, usually I can find those after the holidays but these bright orange ones were probably leftover from back-to-school sales. $5 each and the perfect size for most of my kitchen stuff in case anything breaks or leaks along the way. I'll be using up or giving away most of the food stuff but I have a dozen or so bottles of coffee flavorings (Torani syrups like vanilla, hazelnut, peanut butter and raspberry) that need to go in along with the bottles of wine and oils. I will probably get another 4 or 8 bins so it'll be easy to recognize them with all the boxes I have.

I emptied two of DD's three bathroom drawers. Nothing was organized, everything was all mixed up. I put DD's cosmetics/hair stuff/meds into one of DD's toiletry bags. I'll give her that bag to take home with her tomorrow night. She can go through it or chuck it, up to her. I filled another toiletry bag with DD's perfumes/feminine hygiene products but I put it back in the drawer for another time.
The "official" guest room is also on that landing, so I want one empty bathroom drawer for guests.
I'm hoping this doesn't cause WWIII. It shouldn't, but you never know with DD.

We got an incredible storm tonight! It went from nothing but clouds and blue skies to thunder, lightening, pouring rain and hail in under 20 minutes. Next town over had a tornado but no reports yet of damage and the streets here are mostly flooded. There's a ton of debris in the storm drain in front of my house so I'll sweep that up tomorrow.
I know these summer storms are common in the midwest but here in California it's rare!

Nearly caught up on the extra two loads of laundry I found in the kids' bathroom. Got up early to go grocery shopping for dinner tonight. No eating out of the pantry tonight.

I just put a load of laundry in. Living alone, I know what laundry needs to be done.
I do need to take pictures for the painting estimate.

I do buy physical CDs as otherwise the artist makes pennies for their work through streaming services. I have donated some of the CDs to Hospice when they were asking for them once the music was on my computer. I can't remember the last time I bought a DVD. I am on the 2nd and 3rd pass on some areas of my house. I was able to be much more ruthless each time through. I bought John Wick 3 DVD two weeks ago and Rocketman the week before that.

It's been a slammed week at Lands' End this week. In the past seven days, we received more than 600 boxes in shipment. Average size: 24" x 18" x 12". AND we had floorset for the whole store. So far five sections have been completed. Still have Men's, Kid's, and Petite's to do. Today, rather than UNPACKING boxes (at work), I'll be PACKING them (at home). Moving truck load-up date is October 15th. I'm not quite to the point where I just throw it in a box and call it done, thankfully, but it's getting there.
We also had Sale transfers to complete. My manager has done most of that. So far, 1100 pieces of clothing have been boxed up and marked to leave the store. There is NEVER nothing to do in that store. It's all just a matter of: How much energy do you have and how far do you want to dig into a project?

As I downsize for moving, I find that there are many things that I've been storing that I have never used or never used/accessed regularly which makes me think: Do I really need them in my living space? If my Indianapolis home--the one I'll be buying no earlier than next summer--ends up being near a library, I won't need to keep nearly as many books or DVDs as I currently have. Maybe a few favorites but I won't need to keep 300+ books or 100+ DVDs. I've listed a few pieces of furniture on FB Marketplace when I post them to the local Yard Sale page but we're limited to three posts/day on that page. Did three yesterday. Time for three today. I need to pack some more but I just don't have the energy. Maybe a short nap and then I'll tackle it. You can copy DVDs to computer. That's what I did with all of ours about 10 years ago. Then I sold them all to Amazon. They probably don't buy them back anymore, but at the time I got several hundred dollars out of them. More importantly, I got them out of the house. I don't think we have ever even bothered to watch any of them since then. I move in two weeks. There aren't enough hours in the day to burn all the DVDs that I have. lol.

nidea - good luck on your move! 2 weeks is my birthday so I'm glad I'm not moving for 3.5 weeks! Although, I think I will tell my family all I want this year is a day and a truck and help moving out boxes packing update - well the rain last night ruined some of the boxes I'd taken out of my car so those will go right into the bin. Packing some of the more fragile glass items and using a lot of clothes to buffer. My dresser is basically empty so that can go up for sale next week, also 2 more Ikea shelves which are now empty. The kitchen is coming along but I will need more bins for food and drinks so back to WalMart this week. other stuff - I do have a fair amount of cleaning and minor repairs to do, mostly paint touchups but also a bit of caulking and a piece of baseboard in the master bath. I don't know yet when the home inspection will be, I am assuming I will need to be out of the house for several hours so that will be a good time to take boxes to storage (it's a 3 hr round trip drive).

Very little win compared to Start and Nidena, but DD happily took the toiletries bag with her. When DD looked inside, she said a lot of it was from HS ... 8-10 years ago! I put the items that stay back in DD's top bathrooom drawer. I put the contents of her third drawer into another toiletry bag for her next visit. Her 2nd + 3rd drawers are empty.
I hope you get a great quote TheO.

I had some success yesterday! 2 bags of trash and a full backseat that went to donation makes me happier. I now have a much more open area in the living room and in the second bedroom. I believe that I finally have some gumption back so I will continue to work in fits and starts gathering more things to toss or donate.
Next stop is going to be the kitchen...I think.

All of you have been so busy. This is a somewhat calmer week for me. The craft show was a success and now I have to pack away everything until the next one. Have about a two week window before the next one. This morning I get the taxes figured out and ready to mail. Also managed to change the sheets and they are currently in the dryer. Think I will another load to do later today or at the latest tomorrow. I have several errands to run and will be leaving later than I planned so I do not want to start that load just yet.
Goals for this week:
Crafts: *Reorganize the craft show bags and supplies. *Make one necklace -- ordered Saturday *Finally finish the project for me. -- so close to finishing this one *New project ?? *Repair bracelet for C *Repair necklace *Repair earrings *Crochet a few rows *Update Etsy listings *Add at least one item to the shop
Commitments: *Tutoring ?? *Craft class and Volunteer Teaching Class -- Wednesday and Thursday *Meet L
Errands: *Post office -- Mail off taxes from Saturday *Wally World
Routine Home Items: *Maintain the organized area *Keep up with dishes and laundry *Organize at least areas *Add several more items to donation box/ trash/library donation *Roomba several rooms *Begin the Halloween/ Fall decorations
Sure that I will have several other items to add to this list later. I will unload the dishwasher as soon as I get off the computer and then get ready to get on the road to get a few things done.
Have a good day all.

Feeling all kinds of heartbroken today. We got the call late last night that a friend I grew up with died of cancer, just a few months after his diagnosis. He had a wife and 3 little girls. It’s been extra hard because he was well known in the music industry so there are tweets and articles and why did someone need to edit his Wikipedia page to include the day he died an hour after it was announced?
I am hopeful that the family can have a smaller service here in California that’s not about the celebrities he worked with but about the good man we lost too soon. He was only 43.

Celebrity deaths are hard. They live in public but they should be allowed to die in private and have a private funeral if that is what their family desires.
When Tom Petty died, his family managed to keep the funeral from the public until after it happened. It wasn't held immediately and was not held at a celebrity location. Of course, now the children from his first marriage and the widow are fighting.

He was very private, only the family and close friends knew of his diagnosis and have been praying for healing since he was hospitalized. I appreciate that the many celebrities he worked with are honoring him but just the idea of seeing his face “in memorial” at the CMAs is killing me right now.
