You all are being so productive! This week- create 5 online class spaces/Mon - pharmacy (DH)/Mon - Quickbooks for DH/Mon - drinks w J/Tues
- see E/Wed
- Quickbooks for DH/Wed
Caught up on laundry + DH's QB (again) today. Job 2 (Wednesdays) starts next week. Friends from Australia coming for dinner tomorrow night. DH is making dinner. Then Friday we're seeing my sister, going to a friend's gallery opening Fri night, two parties Sat, and seeing my sister again on Sun before her cruise leaves Paris. The gallery is a bit far so we'll only go if the weather is good enough to take the motorcycle. Yikes. I'm trying to take it one day at a time and get enough sleep. I absolutely hate being "overbooked" but sometimes it's out of my control. ETA: I forgot that we now have 1 less class per course because 1 class is digitized. In exchange for having that class "off", we have to mark online work. So MORE marking, but written feedback on videos. Like everything new, it will be time-consuming. The good news is, having 9 fewer "in person" classes means I only have class 4 days a week 8/15 weeks of the semester. That's nice!
Definitely better than last fall semester. Even if it takes me a while to figure out the digitized marking, I can do that in pjs. I also hope I get one more staff/faculty class, I should know by Fri.

We had showings on Tuesday and Wednesday this week (potential buys with realtors already) and hoping to get an offer! Waiting for my dad to sign the price adjustment so we can get on with it. Booked two Open Houses this weekend and before then I need to trim the grass in the backyard and touch up some paint in the bathroom.
In happy news, I picked up some fabric quarters yesterday and the quilt shop owner gave me a ton of free scraps. While I consider my next quilt project I’m making a couple of pillow covers.

Projects for this week/weekend: 1. Paint ceilings in dining room, foyer and living room. 2. Start painting trim (crown moulding and chair rail - we are replacing the base moulding) in dining room, foyer and living room (hoping to get 2 coats on everything). 3. Organize DS#2 fishing gear in garage. It is a hot mess pushed into a corner. I told him my ideas this morning and he is looking forward to helping. 4. Need to look at counters on Saturday AM and make our final decision for kitchen. Plus, laundry, general cleaning, etc. around the house. I'm going to be busy! But it is progress in the right direction.

Home from taking dad for his groceries and word puzzles. Both hearing aid batteries were dead and he was sound asleep in his chair when I got to his place. He wouldn't believe me that he needed to change batteries in both hearing aids until he changed them in the left ear and still couldn't hear me. He can hear the phone if only one battery is dead. That's my clue that both are dead.
He was snoring and appeared to be in a deep sleep. He was pretty confused all morning. Had no idea of what to do because the store was out of his kind of bread. I asked and they will not be getting a delivery today. I finally had to choose bread for him.
I did take the bag of Christmas ribbons and tags to his place to go to my sister and dropped off two bags of shredding at the bank. I'm up to 2005 now.

Yesterday I cleaned out all but one desk drawer here at the office. Tossed several things, relocated 4 items, and made hanging files for 3 topics. Now I just need to remember to look in the new areas for things, LOL. I really dislike doing dishes. Have I mentioned that lately?? I even Googled how to make doing dishes easier articles yesterday. I love to cook, and DH likes to grill, so I guess I should stop complaining about this First World Problem. Last week when he was out of town, there were hardly any dishes which makes this week seem worse. Sigh....

I decided that it was time to purge and file all the paper work that I've been shoving in a bin in a cabinet in my hallway. Out of site, out of mind, right? It was a 3 foot stack and spans 3 years! It started when I shattered my elbow and I have not been adding to it for the past 6 months or so. At least not often. I have a stack of medical receipts as tall as an old phone book just from my elbow. Thank God for insurance-my surgery and hospital stay was over $80,000! I'm torn about whether or not I want to add up all the other receipts for follow ups, prescriptions, PT and other paraphernalia. As for the other piles, it looks like the whole family spends all their time at the doctor, dentist or physical therapy. I'm patting myself on the back for getting a separate accordion folder for this year. It's all organized by month and all receipts are filed immediately. If the FSA peeps would stop randomly deciding that things aren't covered I could toss most of it now. They keep coming at me months (and at least once a year) later. It took me two hours just to sort it into stacks. So far I've organized and filed mortgage, homeowners insurance, property taxes, water bills (they screwed me out of $200 once-I keep all the water bills) and excise tax paperwork. I've emptied the shredder three times and have a paper shopping bag full of paper to recycle. The couch and coffee table are still covered, but I have managed to get all the papers off the floor.

Friends from Australia have come and gone, dishwasher run and unloaded. DH shopped and made dinner. Iggy aka IG I don't like doing dishes either. DH is a better cook than me, but it takes me an hour to clean up the kitchen after him. Have you looked into one-dish/one-pot meals?

I din't mind doing the dishes, as it's often a meditative experience for me, looking out at the courtyard with all the pretty flowers. In any case, coming from a background where people were killing their own pets for food during a famine, I'm glad I have dirty dishes. It means I have enough to eat.

LOL at taking an hour, debthaven! Yes, I know about one-dish/one-pot meals, and use my Crock Pot which I dislike cleaning as well. One of the articles said some people use dish-washing time to reflect or meditate, or for gratitude. I need to redirect my attitude. Going out with friends tonight, so there won't be any dishes at least for one night. Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!

Either that or a good dishwasher . I might be single but dang, I rarely do dishes. That's what my dishwasher is for. I even named it (as I did my Roomba)!

I hand wash because I am single and it takes a long time to fill the dishwasher. My dishwasher is used mainly as the drying rack. Since I am going to be redoing my kitchen I am looking into dishwasher drawers.

And, LOL at naming yours! However, I hand wash the non-stick pots, pans and lids per the manual suggestion, knives, my plastic iced coffee cup also per the suggestion printed on the bottom, etc. Being on a well, and having to haul water during the summer months, results in some um, "strong" water.
That being said, yes, we need a new one, which I attempted a few months ago. Let's just say I won't be returning to Lowe's any time soon. Was there for 30 minutes, and left without one. 'Tis okay-saved me over $500!

With dishes if I do them right away I don't mind as much. When the food is caked on and I have to scrub or soak, I get cranky.
DH is supposed to do them but he's not always timely. Our kitchen is fairly small so there's not a lot of room to work around last night's dishes if he didn't do them. That's where I tend to get annoyed.
We have a dishwasher. I hand wash the stuff iggy mentioned. My lunch containers and water bottle for work also get hand washed. Our cooking utensils get hand washed. Basically most things plastic get hand washed because our water is super hard and even with jet dry, we get this nasty white film.

Question: Has anyone here used Replacements dot com, whether to buy or sell? I heard about it on a different message board and they are offering $8 for a pair of Mikasa champagne flutes (used once, maybe never, still in their original box). That's about as much as they will cost to ship. But then, sending them off will mean one more thing out of the house... Hmmm...

I left work early and planned to immediately start gardening because the weather is the coolest it's been all summer. So far I have eaten lots of chips and sat staring at the computer.

Spent the afternoon in town with my sister, met her new BF who is lovely. DS2 joined us for lunch, DD couldn't. This morning I realized we couldn't take the motorcycle. We had to drive my sister/her BF around so we had to take the car. We dropped them back at their boat at 4.30, and then spent 3h in traffic round trip to get to C's gallery opening. Let's just say I wanted to skip it, DH didn't, and DH won. This weekend (updated)- D's party (Sat afternoon) - A's party (Sat night) - sister (Sun morning) DS2 announced that he + his GF are staying over Sat night so they'd be here for lunch on Sun. Frankly I'd be fine without seeing my sister again on Sun, but her BF chose a Paris cruise so we could see each other. Plus DS3 couldn't come to lunch today and he really wants to see his aunt. Thank Gd I have Sat morning and Sun afternoon "off" (ie at home). I honestly can't cope with so much "peopling".

Absolutely the same here, plugginaway22 . So I'm not coping very well. ETA: IME it's the things you would have refused that are planned 3 months in advance. So when stuff with people you care about comes up, it's on top of the stuff you've already accepted.

I'm sorry debthaven You know I'm not a people person and there is no way I could have handled what you have already done this week. I know I have to have unscheduled "me time" or I can't function. My sister doesn't have that same need and can't comprehend it. I think DN3 gets it but not anyone else in the family. Mom did.

I used them to get rid of quite a lot of Stuff from my first marriage, including an entire set of china and some crystal and silver. It worked well; they remit at a fair price and those things are gone. One thing they suggest is to have the package insured. Do that - that way you'll still get remittance if anything breaks.

I'd have a lot of trouble with that schedule, too. I need time to restore myself after 'peopling' except for being with my siblings. We are all strong introverts, so that makes it easier with them.

Well, this is a timely topic. Peopling. I'm still on the road, (sort of) after we had to leave town to avoid Hurricane Dorian. Then, my relative went into the hospital, so I'm hanging around with DD for a few more days until things calm down. While I love that people want to see me, I've got too much going on (running around to sign off on paperwork for my relative, as DD has neither a computer printer, nor a Fax machine). The phone has hardly stopped ringing. I think when I finally get back home, other than doctor appts., I'm going to stay home & try to recharge my battery. Constantly interacting with people is exhausting for me, even the ones I like. DD STILL is hanging onto some of our stuff, and I'd really hoped to get to go through some more of it, to either donate or throw, but I haven't had a moments peace. I'm going to have to get SOME rest, because it's a long drive home when we go back.

I don't mind washing the things that need to be hand-washed because I have a Dishmaster faucet. It has a brush-on-a-hose that dispenses the soap when you push a button and rinses when the button is not pushed. I love it. My folks had one from the time I was very small, and when I bought my first house, they gave me a Dishmaster faucet of my own. I've had one ever since. What I don't like is putting the dishes away once they have been done either by me or by the dishwasher. I have to give myself a real pep talk to get them put away so the dishes that need washing don't pile up waiting for room in the dishwasher or sinktop dish drainer. If there was a fun gadget that I could use to put the dishes away, I would probably dislike that task less. I only have a fun gadget that washes dishes.

No dishwasher here, except for me. Washing, fine, putting away, I leave them in the strainer. Working on that though. Today is shred day. Got a box and a large paper bag ready to go. Township offers free shred twice a year. Still will I'm sure find more to add before they start. Yesterday got rid of a beach blanket and a tote that has been hanging around in the linen closet.
Small steps.

Very similar to the previous week's goals
Goals for the coming week:
*Outing -- bead show and sale -- Sunday (to get needed supplies if available) *Meeting -- Monday morning *Meeting -- Tuesday night *Handyman --several short days (3-4 days) *Tutoring -- Days uncertain as of yet (usually 2 or 3) *Volunteer and craft classes -- Wednesday and Thursday *Maintain progress -- laundry, dishes, etc. *(Re)-organize at least one areas *Water outdoor plants at least twice this week.(limited rain predicted this week -major change for us.) *Finished started projects -- these are 2 different ones from last week *Start at least one new project for upcoming craft shows *Add several items to the donation box. *Drop off several books at library -- donation items-- Trying to get a few out per week. *Photo of at least one new item for Etsy shop. *Clear the flat areas in BR. *A million and one other items I think.
Achievements from last week: *Tutoring -- 2 sessions *Handyman -- came two days and progress is being made *Volunteer and craft class taught and attended -- Stain glass project will be a gift whenever I get it completed *Maintained progress -- exception is the room with the sheetrock repair -- that one is a mess *Picture framed *Several areas were reorganized -- more to do *Finally finished the last class project from this summer's retreat. *Made a prototype of a new possible sale item. *Returned library book and donated several for their fundraiser. *Annual termite inspection done *Picked up and stored all the holiday decor -- usually do a patriotic theme for summer -- 4th of July to Labor day *Added several items to the donation box, trashed a few as well.
I am keeping busy. Mainly indoors as the temps are still in the high 90s. Slowly going through books in an attempt to weed out the ones that I haven't read in decades. Tutoring at the library makes it easy to drop off a few books a week. Also working on getting several craft projects off my need to finish list. I need to do this before I add more things to that list.
Need to get my day started. Will check in when I can.

Not much decluttering going on. We had to go for a wedding last weekend and came home on Monday. Emptied the suitcase and washed everything immediately, since my DH was traveling for work on Tuesday.
It was too hot to cook last week, so I got some small portions of various salads and lived on popsicles, yogurt and the salad.
Today was the first cool day in one week (still will be 88 later today), so I went for a long walk today morning and came home and did some cooking. Now waiting for a few minutes before I do the dishes.
