My cyberstalker and I go to Miss Manners. There is a lot of traffic there. I don't have the time to go very many places. I started with Smart Spending on the old MSN.

I don't really visit any other forums. I did stop by WSH a few times, but it is so slow there, so now I just hang out here (EE, SS and occasional jaunts to YM).
Every day carry? I need to clean my new ruger LCP so I can carry that, my 5 shot revolver is too big and heavy (especially for summer when I don't wear a coat). Oh, and in case verrip stops by, I also have a switchblade, but I don't carry that. I can see how you can talk about guns and stuff for pages, but what I don't get are things like running magazines. I mean, put your feet to the pavement and run, seems like it would run out of stuff to talk about before long, but to each his own.
Survivalist stuff would get depressing, but I'm sure some of the people are quite interesting...

I grew up in a place where "survivalists" lived in the woods. Really scary bit, I went to school with some of them. Thirty years later, they still live in the woods and worry that the (insert current enemy here) are going to get them. Any questions about why I've only been back once , for four hours, in thirty years?

Horatio, I've read some of those posts on various threads that I've come across and you can get really caught up in the panic, if you let it, can't you? I called DH once (when the recession first hit) and said we need to get this, and that, and .... He said "What are you reading???" LOL!!! Then I took a deep breath and realized you could probably never completely prepare for every major event and now I just stick to the basics (ours is hurricane prep) and common sense and I feel fine about it. I realized if things got so bad that we all need to pack heat and live under ground or in a tree I would just assume be dead. I love my luxuries too much. Here is our survival stuff: 2 acres on a lake stocked with fish. Tent and all camping gear Food for over 6 months Water Booze Meds Batteries Cash Kitty stuff Generator Emergency Kit Important Papers Clothes Common Sense

Horatio: Don't feel bad. All the news on the t.v. about world events & the economy is enough to depress anybody. When there's too much negative stuff on, I just shut off the t.v. & find something else to do that's more enjoyable. In the meantime, just remember that the recession in the 80's was painful, but there were some great years when it was over. This, too will pass. Hang in there!

Horatio, I've read some of those posts on various threads that I've come across and you can get really caught up in the panic, if you let it, can't you? ..... I am having work problems, which is not really money problems but would be if I quit. I like reading about money and the economy. I end up getting frustrated, angry and full of despair. It is not a good thing. I used to depend on work for a lot of my social life. I also (probably sad to say) used to depend on the old YM for talking to people about things that interested me. I work with two people now, both of whom I really like, but one doesnt speak much english and the other I dont have much in common with. I wish I could go to YM and ask for advice. What I would really like is a bit of a sympathetic ear and some encouraging words. That doesnt happen though. ( I know I am whining again). I dont know what to do. But reading about the world ending or all the big governement spending or terrible economy probably isnt the best thing. End of self-pitying whine. I have to admit that this does not sound like a self-pitying whine, but a valid point of too much negative news and information. There are always spins on the news that can go too far one way - negative or positive and then there are the facts. Try to avoid the extremes and stick with your personal goals and objectives and avoid as much news as possible until you feel like you are back on the path you wish to be. You have a choice in what you fill your head with... start choosing a more productive read that makes you feel better and teaches you new things that have to do with reality and your day to day life.

And fast acting. Too fast if you want the option of changing your mind though.

Try to hang in there not to dwell on it.

When the end gets here I will be sitting behind good ole Ma Deuce dishing out death and destruction. Remember the more firepower you have the better your chance of surviving just make sure you stock up on ammo.

I agree with POM. Get your basic supplies and then forget about it, don't dwell. Appreciate the little things, don't watch to much news. It can get overwhelming if it's your only focus. Spring is here and mother nature helps me alot. Get some excercise , watch stupid funny movies, get a pet. It will get better. Hang in there.
