Yeah, I just edited my previous post because I saw where the patriot act might be part of it. Still though. It's their money, and citizenship doesn't change that.

Yes, I saw what he said as well. But I can't see how it's even right for them to ask, period.
Edit: Seems like this all has something to do with post - 9/11 patriot act stuff. But seriously, why the guy from Kansas? What would make them question his citizenship? Yes, these sort of issues come up and then the patriot act always seems to be mentioned as the reason. It is curious because it does sound like he has always lived in Kansas, is photo journalist with a local to him tv station. Doesn't sound like the kind of guy that makes international financial transactions, then I would think maybe it was about tax evasion, terrorist funding, money laundering, which is what I always thought the patriot act targeted. I researched this a bit, hard to find any information that really relates to the specific question of verifying citizenship.

I had to resubmit all my personal info. I went into the bank to do it because I don’t trust emails in case they’re not legit. They also asked again for my social security number.

Its been a couple of months ago, was making a deposit at the drive through window and the teller requested I go into the bank lobby to make my deposit. Before the lobby teller would complete the transaction I had to answer 3 questions regarding my account info. This was not Bank of Am, but a different large international bank.
