From the link... Is route 20 the next travel destination?having lived right off this route for 8 years, I need to say that a lot of this road is going to be industrial (large portions of it are called Post Road in various towns, that's a cool history on its own) but much of it is quite pretty in rural areas. I might actually pick up this book if he ever publishes it.

I've done the route across Nebraska and Wyoming. Some pretty cool stuff along it. Never taken in the whole coast to coast thing (bucket list item?)

We have a Route 20? Oh.
I know 95, 93, 128 and 1. Don't ask me about any other numbers.

It's a bit confusing but Boston Post Road is the name for U.S. 1 which runs through southern coastal Connecticut through towns like West Haven, Orange, Milford, Stratford, Fairfield, and ends in Greenwich.

(Waving!!) I live one block in from Route 20. My road parallels it for a bit. Feel free to wave as you drive by.

I thought I heard a lot of traffic on my road last night. I was right.
There was a fatal accident on Highway 20 and traffic was detoured over 6 hours to Old Highway 20, which is now a residential street. The road carries a lot of traffic. I'm sure the noise I was hearing was semi trucks.

I think of 20 as a local road. Never really thought of it going cross country.
It occurs to me that I've travelled from east to west coast on interstate 70, 80 and 90 but am completely unaware of 40, 50 and 60. Is there a 10? And the Rte. 30 I travel on frequently is apparently a MA road, not an interstate. Looks a lot like Rte. 20 to me.
I travelled much of Route 66 when I was young (1970's) when it was all small towns and unique and a bit of it about 5 years ago when it had changed so much.

yup, there is a 10, and an Interstate 20 that's different from this 20. 10 runs from Jacksinville through NOLA into TX. 20 runs through Atlanta, but I'm not sure what else. the gist of the interstate grid was that they would run south to north 10-90, and west to east 5-95. and hey, welcome back. it's been awhile.

I pop in from time to time but not a fan of the vitriolic politics that permeate nearly every thread.

I-40 goes from Wilmington, NC to Barstow, CA. Runs theough NC, TN, AR, OK, TX, NM, AZ to CA. From Oklahoma City to CA, I-40 somewhat parallels Route 66. No Interstate 50 or 60. I-10 runs from Jacksonville, FL to Santa Monica, CA. I-20 runs from around Kent, Tx to Florence, SC.

Wonder why there's not 50 or 60?
It was a looooonnnng time ago so I probably took Route 66 rather than I-40 back in the 70's. And by that I mean my Dad was driving...
I have some vivid memories from that trip and a whole lot of it is hazy. We travelled cross country and wandered around the west for about a month.

Is there an interstate 6 (I-6) that runs from Massachusetts to, say, Oregon? 93 and 95 are odd number interstates. And 128 is a route.

so 6 is a state route, which stays 6 into RI and CT. 128 is also a state route, but it coincides with both 93 and 95 in some spots. and generally, even numbered interstates go east-west while odds go north-south. so how the eff do we have the 95/93/128 cluster around Canton, MA, as well as the general mess that is route 6 on the Cape? Highway 20 in Iowa is three other highways around Waterloo for about 10 miles.
I don't think it's 4 lane all the way across the state yet. I'm glad they started on the eastern side of the state when the 4 lane highway was put in.

My understanding is that 128, because it curves around Boston, essentially runs East/West in many places (although directions on it are always in North/South). 👋👋👋👋@malarky!!!
