I heard yesterday that pork exports have stopped 100%, that cheese to Mexico is way down. Apparently we sold a great deal to them.
Also lots of contracts cancelled for crops in the Dakotas to China. The government is supposed to buy some up. But I think the $12 b is only for grains not all the other products. Then equipment dealers, chemical, seed, etc will be effected. They are still hoping he will blink and I don't think China will.
Also the EU came out and said the tariff deal with Europe DOES NOT include any agricultural products.

I would think we would benefit for cheap products for awhile then as production drops prices will go out of sight. These are not an industry that will ever recover.

CG, from what I've read it was supposed to cover grains, pork & dairy. The excess cheese/butter bought was to be handed out like they used to do in the past. No idea what will happen to the pork, grains can be stored until they rot & then disposed of...but in the mean time...THOSE ARE TAXPAYER $$$ BEING USED! And we will still have to pay at the register when we make our grocery purchases.
Don't know why DT isn't trying to get Russia to buy all our excess! (TIC)

dj who is your customer base?
Kadee, Russia is putting way more land in production and preparing to sell more grain to China.
trump in putins pocket. Also china has put 1.5 million more acres in production for their own
grain.
I read some of the smaller and poorer countries are buying soybeans while the prices are down
over 20%. But pork, apparently storage units are bulging.

Buckle up, I think its going to get rough.
I was researching and reading, Russia sold 80% of US bonds in the last few months. Russia and China are stockpiling gold like crazy, Russia started in 2015. They are preparing for gold denominated currencies. Some other countries are too, I posted the articles in one of these. I think trump is going to pile us with debt and then all we need is china and japan to start selling our debt, that will be the beginning of the end. I think trump is working hand in hand with Russia to destroy us. Destroying currency, destroying our agriculture, what manufacturing we have left. They can walk over us if this continues.
We supposedly have over 8000 tons of gold, but no one has seen it, nor has it ever been audited so its just a figure with no backup. Do we or don't we??
How long before Russian troops are marching on our shores?

How long before Russian troops are marching on our shores? they are in better shape to do that than we are. but US investors can help themselves to foreign equities, and shelter themselves against the dollar, if that is what they think will happen. for the record, i DO think that is what will happen. as to the gold, banks are allowed to "lease" it, which means that the treasury probably has a minimal amount on hand, but it is "out there" as collateral.

Robert Miller, president and CEO of NLMK USA, said objections raised by U.S. Steel and Nucor to his bid for a waiver are “literal untruths.” He said his company, which imports huge slabs of steel from Russia, has already paid $80 million in duties and will be forced out of business if it isn’t excused from the 25 per cent tariff. U.S. Steel and Nucor are two of the country’s largest steel producers. “They ought to be ashamed of themselves,” said Miller, who employs more than 1,100 people at mills in Pennsylvania and Indiana. <snip> The 20,000-plus waiver applications that the Commerce Department has received illustrate the chaos and uncertainty ignited by Trump’s trade war against America’s allies and adversaries. It’s a battle that critics of his trade policy, including a number of Republican lawmakers, have warned is misguided and will end up harming U.S. businesses. globalnews.ca/news/4359349/rising-backlash-as-us-firms-seek-trumps-steel-tariff-waiver/?utm_source=Article&utm_medium=MostPopular&utm_campaign=2014

Don't we produce any steel slabs?
