I have purchased a Kindle from Amazon a while ago...love it..highly recommend it..With that out of the way...my problem is... Every day, I am offered a selection of kindle books for a very low price..say $1.99 to 0....and it is only for a day or so. Usually there is one of great interest and for a buck or two ...why not...and since I am only allowed a day to purchase...Yup...u got it...have no idea how many I now have on my kindle...Surprised to find out, it seems there is no limit to how many books a Kindle will store... I have no problem reading more then one book at a time but now I realize...after a purchase of a W.E.B Griffin novel today..$1.99.......I have a problem...need help... Any suggestions? Any one else in same situation or am I alone.. Am just about finished with "Shogun"...it was as good as when it first came out...the mini tv series one of the best ever ….. ………………..

I have a kindle that I rarely pick up. Every time I do I discover the battery is dead. Think I have maybe 15 books on it.
I prefer actually holding a book, and yes I can read several at a time. I would rather buy a book at a thrift store and after reading, donate it back or give to someone else. Kindle books I can't pass on to others and to me it's a waste.
Sorry I'm no help.

I have not been reading as much lately, but I have no problem reading from a Kindle - I have 2, a Voyager that I rarely use and a 1st generation Oasis.
I prefer reading on my kindle to using a paper book, for a variety of reasons, I can enlarge the font at will, I can store multiple books in a small space etc.
I have a Kindle Unlimited Subscription and an Audible subscription and I like to read newly published Romance Novels.
I have not been keeping up with my purchases either. I was trying to use up my unused audible credits so I could cancel the subscription- I think I am back to having 2 available. Well, you got me to order my next audio book. I chose The High Tide Club by Mary Kay /Andrews. I am also tempted by Susan Mallery's When We Found Home, but I have a sample on my Kindle Ap on my phone - need to make sure I did not purchase it and fail to synch my phone and Kindle. I am also thinking about Debbie Macomber's Cottage by the Sea. I have decided that my Audible Selections will be newly published books that are New releases that cost more than $10.00. I have a long commute, so I like to listen to Audible Books in the Car.
I might drop the Kindle Unlimited, we shall see.
I also have figured out how to borrow books on tape from the library and I figured out how to borrow Kindle books from the library. Paying for them is too easy and I get exactly what I want when I want it. I will drop the Audible subscription soon, though, and then I will just borrow books on tape from the library that are currently available, not necessarily new releases.
I don't have any answers for you on how to manage your addiction. Maybe unlink your Credit card until you catch up on your reading?

I go through binge reading phases. I don't have a Kindle, but I do have an iPad with a Kindle app. When I look at books on Amazon that interest me, if it is less to buy an actual book, I do. If it is less to get a digital copy I do. I really do prefer an actual book though.

The cost is not a problem...a buck or two, thankfully at this stage in my life is not a problem...but the addiction of adding books to kindle...is nuts...but now will check out my library to see if they offer new novels to kindle and how to use... I agree on the tapes...now cd's...for commutes....got into it when lived in Texas...went through so many books that way...long drive to work up and back on 45...

I don’t have a kindle, but I do have an Ipad. I’ve downloaded the appfor my local library and get all my books from them and almostnever buy a book. I like reading an actual book, but found it much easier to bring my Ipad than carry aroun one or more hardcover books.
ETA - my library has books in e-pub or kindle format.

I have this problem of buying the Kindle Daily Deal books also, dezii. I've turned off notifications for them, and that helps me avoid it. Sometimes Goodreads sends me emails about their promotions though.
I also use the library's e-book service. Ours is called library2go.

I can't help you. I've overwhelmed myself with literature. It really is an addiction.
I've got a kindle and have a bad habit of reading book reviews and impulsively buying the book, plus I'm a sucker for book stores and used book sales (our library has them frequently - I got a Joyce Carol Oates just a few weeks ago). DH and I have nightstands stacked with books we're planning to read, probably twenty on each nightstand, we add more to it than we take away. We call them our Stacks of Shame.
Our library has RBDigital where you can borrow books and magazines for free. Plus we have Audible, which gives you an audio book per month. I have something like 5 audio books on my Ipod waiting for me to read. Then I have stacks of the New Yorker waiting for me to have time to read, as well. And there are something like 6 podcasts that I regularly listen to.
I comfort myself by telling myself that there are worse addictions to have. Plus my DH has the same problem, so we're co-addicted together. (A co-worker has a DH who hates to read and hates it when she reads, so he sits and stares at her while she's trying to read a book - so, it could be worse. )

They were talking on TV about Trump getting an extra TV for Melania on Airforce one (I think) because she does not like to watch the same shows as him. They were critical...but DH and I were laughing...Sometimes we watch TV together, but often I go in the other room and read. He likes all the violent stuff that I hate -like Walking Dead. I just leave the room when he watches it. It is not a problem, because I really like to read.

DH and I are pretty compatible with TV. Except for sports. Baseball is 10 minutes of excitement crammed into 3 hours; football, from what I can tell, is pointless and chaotic, and basketball has squeaky shoes which make me crazy.
That's why DH has a man cave.
We both love to watch the Walking Dead. He feels cheated if there's not at least one really gooey zombie kill shot per episode. I watch because I have a soft spot for apocalyptic stories.

I do kindle unlimited too. Every month, as part of Kindle First (now First Reads, I think) you get a free download. Choose 1 of 6 books, various genres. Plus, there is a HUGE selection of Kindle unlimited books you can download and read for free. Limit is ten of those in your "library". You return them when you're done, like a library, but no due date.

Yeah, sports on tv is not so fun. My guy watches hockey. So much annoying hockey. Blergh.
And then even worse shit like Bar Rescue and some doofuses hunting for sea treasures. This week I've been treated to Shark Week. This is grounds for divorce, right??

The kindle format lingers forever in my list of books only to tell me I don't own it if I try to read it. Yes, I can delete them but I can also save myself the hassle of not even having them there in the first place. Dezi, there are always FREE kindle books available on Amazon. Check those out I probably have more to read than I have finished reading currently from doing that.

Don't have a Kindle, don't want one. We use our local library & DH checks out about 10-12 books a week. Our library also has a yearly sale of books. Last year I bought 5 BIG boxes full...took up the whole bed of my full sized truck, $25. Once we are done with them, I take them to the VA clinic where DH goes & put them out for the guys there to take. Most bring them back when they are done with them...so they get passed around for quite awhile.
Also, many nursing homes can use the books and any magazines you want to get rid of. Especially those state or county run homes...they help those folks a lot. Presently, my book case is full to over-flowing...it will get pared down this coming winter.

But I read a lot and don't re-read the books later, so buying them just isn't something I like to do, unless that is the *only* way to get a book I really want to read.

First Reads requires you to have Prime membership and Unlimited has it's own separate fee, which is fine but something else to add to the list of "bills". Yes, that's true. But I read a lot and don't re-read the books later, so buying them just isn't something I like to do, unless that is the *only* way to get a book I really want to read. To purchase a book today...unless a best seller, fiction , and heavily discounted...way to expensive...prices on the inside cover $28.95 and up...forget it...

Price is the biggest reason I go to thrift and used stores for my reading
New books are horribly expensive. I don't see how Barnes and Nobel and the like stay in business
Someone must buy them

My GF is a frequent kindle book buyer. I don't ask. I use the library for print books.
