Probably one of the cheapest places I have found is the Stratosphere in Las Vegas. They have rooms at $40 per night, most nights. I'm sure someone could work a deal with them to cover the days when there is event pricing. Maybe work a deal for senior citizen.
A person would have TV, internet, clean sheets, clean towels. Access to buffets or make coffee and cook easy meals in your room. We used to stay there around '05, 06 and the rooms were $25. H says no to LV. We don't know anyone there to play golf, tennis, etc. Do you have any cheap places?

Bhutan. You can rent a house for $16 a month. Only if you are a native. If you are a foreigner it’s $250/ day. Worth it, though. www.cnn.com/travel/article/visiting-bhutan/index.html

We “boondocked” quite a bit. Total cost for 6 weeks was about $1500, of which most was fior gas

I love my rv! I tell my kids that if I had a do over, we love in an rv, I'd school them and take on contact work. As it is, if the affordable care act hasn't been gutted, I'd be doing that now. Without the kids who are out of the house

I haven't used our motorhome much the last year or so, mainly because of my driving foot issue. I told hubs if I can't get the durn thing fixed not sure what the point of keeping it is. It's not so cheap though, the diesel tank holds 150 gallons, of course I can drive almost to Florida on it, have before way down in there. Still you fill that thing up and it takes your breath away. It's sitting out there now, looking clean and ready to go and I can't.

Some friends of ours did the "permanent RV" thing to winter in Orlando Florida. They bought an RV that was permanently in place in an inexpensive senior park, and really enjoyed spending a few months there every winter. They only had to pay a minimal fee (around $80) for the months that they were away from the park.

You could probably stay cheaper at Circus, Circus but you might have to factor in cost of your knife, bullet proof vest, defense classes, and well you get the picture

Stratosphere is close to a bad street. They sneak in to use the laundry. I'll skip Circus Circus with that recommendation.

I did look at the rates for Circus Circus. They were as low as $22. Half price if booked soon. I don't know if the half price is the $22 or lower.

Book at your own risk! My travel bud wanted to check it out when we were there. Not to stay but just heard about it. It was first time in Vegas and checking out everything like tourist do. I had a gut feeling to get out of the area before it got dark . Eta: it was really the only time I felt uncomfortable in Vegas.

That part of the Strip borders a sketchy area. I do a race that goes up and down the Strip and snakes through the sketchy part between the Strip and Fremont Street. At night. But with thousands of other people around, so it gives me a chance to look around. I wonder when Circus Circus and the Stratosphere will be redeveloped into new, glitzy destinations. Now that the Riviera is gone, I think it's only a matter of time. Maybe 20 years, but still a matter of time.

We did the camper thing for years. H. doesn't want the maintenance of RV or camper or tires. For years we stopped at the same tire shop in northern SD. I understand low cost rooms; low-lifes.
What started this was Reader's Digest had an article on inexpensive international retirement. I wouldn't do that unless I had friends who knew the area.
