Should be an interesting exercise, when all the reasonable, intelligent, non one issue voters abandon the GOP are there enough of what’s left to win a majority in Congress or enough electoral votes for the presidency again.

Conservatives? As an aside, it's going to be increasingly difficult for you to understand what's happening around you if you don't get up to speed VERY quickly. This is UniParty, not conservative, advice. And it seems like desperation on the part of the Washington, D.C. swamp to me.

There actually are some conservative who do see what is going on in our country and who have taken off their blinders and who will vote for anyone but a Republican this fall and in 2020.

If you can live with that, I really don't care, do you?

Steve Schmidt did not really surprise me. But George Will did. While George Will’s political views are anathema to me, I’ve always respected him as a thoughtful, moral opponent. His action confirms that.

I have seldom agreed with George Will in the past....this time I totally agree.
More & more are seeing the light, especially those who use other sources for information other than conservative tv, radio, publications or net sites. Most of them spread so much disinformation they are laughable.

Kathleen ParkerGood night, GOP of TrumpCracking down on illegal immigration was never going to be pleasant, but this? It’s worse than you think. The travesty of separating children from their undocumented, migrant parents was less about cracking down as a policy than about President Trump’s bet-winning. If Niccolo Machiavelli hadn’t been born, Trump would have hired someone to write “The Prince” — or his more likely title, “The King” — explaining why his merciless means justify the ends of his majestic self-ardor. Reports from hell, which we’ve finally located at the U.S.-Mexico border, have confirmed that this president will do anything to get his way. We’ve seen the image of the 2-year-old crying while her mother is frisked by a Border Patrol agent. We’ve read of the father who, separated from his wife and 3-year-old last month, apparently killed himself while in custody. Complete article here: Good night, GOP of Trump

Once the party gets rid of everyone who has recently been deemed RINO, there will be a small, extreme contingent remaining. If a more "moderate" version of Republicans emerge, the super-right won't have the power they think they have.

I have to admit that I was starting to waver a bit regarding the construction of the wall...even wondering if my reluctance to consider it wasn't due to my complete distaste for Donald...and there I am being kind regarding how I actually feel about the man...if true feelings were stated I believe I would be in violation of many federal laws and would have the SS at my door....
Even the cost , $25/30 Billion , when u consider the federal budget of over $3 Trillion...Fighter planes of $185 million each....Aircraft Carriers of $5 Billion plus air wings and support warships needed for the task force to protect...
However, what so many so called experts on the topic say, and Donald is NOT one of those experts...and many are fellow members of the GOP...one heard today a mayor of a major city on the border and member of the GOP who really knows the area and populace, claims the wall will not solve the problem...stop the importation of drugs or illegals...these people have convinced me ….
I am tending to believe them and stay with my original feeling , the wall, over all , will not solve these problems and just add to our national debt.

The estimates are closer to 70 billion, once you add in having to get the land and build roads to get to the border. It also has a maintenance budget.
I think we could spend that money on better technology, more people and adding resources to the courts. I think it would be way more effective. But way less easy for some people to understand.

Wow...if true , it's crazy but I don't think he ever thinks through anything....that is unsustainable..... This governing by the seat of his pants, by his feelings...see the tariffs and at the same time antagonizing those we would need for their help...say against Iran..China...not thinking....ignoring all unless they agree with him.... it's just nuts. Better to consider spending some of those funds as aiod to the countries where majority of folks are coming from...Guatamala and such...lots less...kind of like in Columbia which has turned a lot of that country around..the violence...not perfect but what is...but hugh improvement.

If a more "moderate" version of Republicans emerge, the super-right won't have the power they think they have. The Democratic Party is pure progressive now and in the middle of a total crackup. Those in the mass delusion on the left think NAZI brownshirt thug tactics are effective. They have NO IDEA what's coming. If you want to know what a small extreme contingent looks like- stay over there with the Democrats. They are FINISHED as a national party. DONE. They don't exist. They're going to get bludgeoned at the ballot box in November, and there's NO ONE on the bench ready to challenge Trump in 2020. Nobody... You're part of a fringe regional party. The Trump movement is just getting started. Growing every day... This is NOT the behavior of a healthy, vibrant, growing political party. It's the sign of a party in death throes...

But I just couldn't imagine the COMMANDER IN CHEIF dissing a Gold Star family. If he could do that, who else is he going to insult? Well, now we know! Just about everyone except for his chosen few. Nothing to do with the thread in and of itself, but can people please stop "yelling" in thread titles?
It's just not necessary. In fact, I consider it rude, and I may start editing them. <gives AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP the side eye for being a repeat offender, though at least not all the time>.

Just about everyone except for his chosen few.
His chosen few is getting smaller and smaller ….. the only person he can't fire is the SC appointee.

Republicans have never been so in favor of any Republican, well just after 9/11 with Bush...me too actually..who wasn't...but after that person..Eisenhower, Bush, Nixon and Reagan...Donald has them all beat big time as far as favorable ratings.....scary shit. …..

Wow! That says something when even George Will says to vote Democratic. And, here I was impressed when DD's friends (in leadership of the College Republicans organization at her college) chose NOT to vote for Trump. Hopefully more will stop drinking the current GOP's toxic kool-aid.

Drones and motion sensors and night vision cameras would allow a stations along the border to monitor the activity and go pick up any people trying to walk in a whole lot cheaper than a giant wall.
But Trump knows his Trumpettes expect their wall, so he's going to keep pushing for it, regardless off what it costs or how effective it will be.
It's all about feeding his base.

I was watching when trump made fun of the disabled reporter, saw it and heard it with my own two eyes. You are ridiculous paul to make such claims that are easily disproved. I also was watching when he said that about those people being fine people. These claims make you just as bad as them. I would have thought you wouldn't actually try to pass such lies off, how sad. The whole bunch are amoral. How anyone who can actually check the accuracy of all this could claims its lies, really makes me wonder.

I think his followers are totally deluded or perhaps trump is the antichrist and he has deluded them into hearing what they want to hear. It is frightening to hear someone that you think might be normal even with odd thoughts could be so immersed into this lying mans words that they to believe them when others actually saw and heard him live on telly.
