On your credit report? Why? Neither of mine ever were on there. This is what I found online (quick Google search): "Divorce can affect many aspects of your life, but one thing you may not have considered is how it affects your credit score." www.nerdwallet.com/blog/finance/credit-cards-divorce-hurt-score-joint-accounts-bills-pay/It doesn't necessarily go against you, but it is there. All I know is that when I went through my first divorce 35 yrs ago, I found out that it shows as a judgment. It doesn't specify what type of judgment. Or at least that is what I was told (more than once.) I have asked other attorneys if it is true and they have all said yes. So I thought I would pass the info along. Interesting! I've been divorced 36 years and I started pulling my credit report 6 months after my divorce since I wanted to make sure none of his stuff got mixed up with mine. This was back in the day when you had to pay LOL and no free annual report. But I did it religiously. And I have never seen anything about me being divorced.
But I made sure that 3 yrs before I got divorced I had established credit in my own name. Back in dark ages so much was "joint" credit. Interesting though.

I don’t think it’s the divorce that shows up, it’s if you have to pay child support or alimony it can show up as a judgement. I wonder if it varies depending on the start?

No. It doesn't show divorce. It shows judgment (with no explanation?). Kind of like a roll call? I don't know. Maybe it's in secret code! It doesn't have to do with child support or alimony. I didn't have to pay those. And our/his/my credit rating was excellent. Maybe swamp or someone knows. Or you can call your banker. Obviously, I don't know! haha We could always just pretend I never brought it up! Pay no attention to that fool behind the curtain...

I've just never hear of it before so that's why I commented the way I did - not doubting you. Will have to do some research now that you have my curiosity peeked. I do know that divorces are a matter of public record and we know the credit bureaus comb those 24/7 but thought maybe it was a "recent" thing but you've been divorced as long as me - so just curious!!
