Nordstrom rack has a "clear the rack" sale on right now - that means everything on clearance is discounted an extra 25%. I just bought my entire wardrobe for our upcoming conference in Colorado (the attire is dressy casual with a western flare) on there.
I promise, you can find something beautiful and fashionable to suit you!

To her granddaughters wedding in a barn? Anything is better than that other one. Well, other than the denim suit. And I would totally wear the one I posted to a wedding even in a barn. I'd tone down my shoes for the terrain, but I'd wear it.

Count me out on that one. Age is a state of mind. I didn't suggest she walk around in booty shorts and a tank top or anything like that, but come on.

Yes, but you’re about half the OP’s age... So one has to dress like an old lady because they have grandchildren? Oh hell no. Count me out on that one. Age is a state of mind. I didn't suggest she walk around in booty shorts and a tank top or anything like that, but come on. People can dress however they want, at any time in their lives. That said, many people, especially women, dress more conservatively as they age, for a whole host of reasons. I don't care if you're 90 and wearing a slipdress if it works for you. I also don't care if you only wear turtlenecks. For me, matching the vibe of the event I'm at is more important than anything else. I have social anxiety and feeling like my "costume" works for the event is very important to helping me manage that. I personally would only wear the blue dress you posted to a bachelorette party or something similar - I would never wear it to a wedding. I wouldn't be comfortable in it. And I'm younger than you. I also agree there's a large swing in what "barn wedding" might entail. But I think in general rustic details generally go over well, which is why I posted the eyelet dress. The color and neckline wouldn't work for me, but doesn't mean they wouldn't work for someone else. To me the blue dress you posted screams "hitting a lounge before we head to the club for the night while our husbands watch the kids." It doesn't say "grandmother of the bride" - regardless of wedding theme.

Also, yhe wedding is going to be in a barn, but the reception is going to be in a county club. The eyelet dress is not country club suitable in my opinion. We appear to have differing opinions, and that's fine. Really the OP is the one that has to be comfortable in whatever it is that she chooses. She mentioned wearing a hilow to another wedding som I'm guessing granny isn't her style. As far as dressing for anxiety, I can't relate. I have confidence coming out of my pores at all times. ETA: The last part was not meaa1nt to downplay anyone's anxiety, so I hope it wasn't taken that way. Just saying that I don't know what that's like.

The wedding is in a barn, the reception is at a country club. And I've been to fancy barn weddings. There is a winery near me that has restored a barn for weddings. It's very fancy. What's key is what kind of barn wedding is this. Is it a new modern upscale barn wedding or is it an old-fashioned rural, this will work kind of wedding? Apparel choices should be different depending on what kind of barn wedding it is. Likewise, is it a fancy country club or is it a rural country equivalent which will be much less fancy than many here imagine. Only she or the bride can tell us that.
I know in small farming towns and surrounds in Wisconsin, things are not that fancy. Even country clubs. So it depends. This particular denim suit sounds a bit clunky but I understand the desire to wear something robust if sitting on uncovered hay bales will be involved. Jersey dresses and others are at risk of being ruined in just one wearing, which isn't frugal at all. Its one thing for hose to run because of hay. I'd be pissed if something similar developed on a jersey or delicate fabric dress.
One option of course is wearing one thing at the barn and something more fancy and less practical at the country club. I think asking the bride is best.

I've dressed my grandma for a couple weddings. First was a pantsuit from David's Bridal that was a bit pricey, second was a top from JC Penney with some slacks. Maybe something like this? link

Surely they would cover the hay bales. Not doing so would be highly inconsiderate.

I think that dress is very versatile, and can be styled up or down, which might work well for your barn-then-country-club situation. I like that it's shiny. It makes my ADHD happy. I'm glad to have been helpful.

I have been looking on Walmart. They do have some nice dresses. div] Don’t do that. Is this because everyone has already seen the dresses and prices?

I found a dress. The first time I tried to order it, the site would not take my security code on the cc. Then, I couldn't sign into my rewards account. Anyhow, it was on close out. Colbalt blue, which is supposed to be an "it" color this year. If it does not fit properly, then I am not out that much money. Attention Women's Body Con dress. Copy image does not work out for me but will try. I can dress it up with jewelry and jacket. I will make sure I get a photo in the dress before.

Surely they would cover the hay bales. Not doing so would be highly inconsiderate. They likely will, however the level of covering and effectiveness is going to vary. I'm seeing pics from just covering the tops, which only protects part of the dress to those that cover more. No pics show the hay bales covered entirely. Me personally would avoid jersey and polyester unless it was a dress I didn't like. Cotton or linen is likely to survive encounters with errant straw. linkOne pic has a nice full wrap, but most aren't. At the minimal end I see burlap not fully covering the top, wood on the top of the hay bale only, and a festive covering again for only the top of the hay bale. YMMV.

Opt4coolcars I will ask if it's chairs or hay bales. Her cousin had a very formal wedding with the hay bales.
I will skip any nylons. What an antique word!

No, it's because shopping at Wal-Mart for something to wear to a wedding is not a good idea.
Pants, I really liked the JCrew dress, but I'm one who has a lot of JCrew clothes.
I like the dress you chose, Artemis Windsong!
