Hello.
I'm considering getting a Sodastream. We drink a lot of fizzy water and it bugs me to add to the countless plastic bottles in the world. It's also becoming a bit of an effort to carry them. I'm not interested in flavored water though.
The cheapest one here is the Cool. From what I can see I'd need the Cool and a few extra bottles. I know I have to get gas refills too.
Do you have a Sodastream? Are you happy with it?

I have a sodastream. I like it. You do have to replace the bottles every couple years or so. I hate washing dishes and since the bottles have to be hand washed I did stop using it for now. But that is my own laziness and nothing to do with the product.

I am a bit concerned about that too lol ... I was disappointed to see that you can't put them in the dishwasher.

why do the bottles need cleaning? I just rinse if I think it got dusty, otherwise, it's just water in there?

I'd still probably use a bottle brush once in a while.

I have a soda stream and love it. I just use the bottle for water so I don’t scrub it often, but it does cut down significantly on waste. You can also get adaptors if you want to hook up a bigger co2 reservoir to it, the bottles can get slightly pricey if you use a lot of the smaller ones.

If you are not adding a syrup to flavor it, then I agree you wouldn't need to wash it unless you are drinking directly from it.

If you aren't drinking directly from it and you aren't putting other flavorings or stuff in the water - it's just water. If I was refilling the bottle daily (and not drinking directly from it) I'd do the rinse and re-fill. I'd also probably wash the bottle (more thoroughly than rinse) if I left the "just" water in it for a long time (24 hours or more - not in the fridge or a few days to a week in the fridge). Stuff grows even in water. I'm not overly paranoid - but I'd still do more than a rinse if a lot of time has passed. FWIW: I take homemade ice tea/lemonade in a "water bottle" every day to work. I do not drink from the bottle. I just give it a quick rinse every night and refill/put in fridge for the next day. It gets hand washed on Friday night/Saturday morning - and sits and waits for a re-fill for Monday. So, it gets washed and dried once a week.

We have one. We don't add any syrup, and pour the fizzy water into a glass, and then rinse the soda stream bottle.
We love it.

Even if you wash with soap, and bleach the bottles out, you are still rinsing with water out of the tap....which isn’t sterile.

Yes, but cleaning and friction remove bacteria that is sitting stagnant. But, if you don't want to clean your things, then don't clean them.

Is it wrong that when I first saw the title of this thread I thought it said “Tell me about Sadomasochism “

Another thing I did was went to Amazon and bought two smaller bottles. The one that comes with it was way more than I can drink. The smaller bottles are just right for my husband, and I still only drink about 75% of it

I love mine! Got the taste for very fizzy sprudel while in Germany. This is the only way I can get it as fizzy as I like it in the US. I never use the syrup so I don't wash my bottles after every use. I just let it air dry with the top off, and wash every other day. I wash my french press like that too.

Wow. I must be the only one that didn't like mine. I only tried it a few times (3-4 flavors), didn't like any of them, so I gave it all away. I probably should have tried to adjust the flavor, but I don't like tasting unknown things, so I didn't. I hope you are happy with yours when you get it!
