who do...DO NOT believe in what the organization leaders espouse regarding the beliefs of the organization. NRA claims 5 million members...possible there are less but even if close to that figure...it's 7 % or so of the gun owners of America... To have such a small comparative group have so much clout on policy of anything in our country..IMHO..is just weird and nuts.. What is needed is a split away from the NRA...possible to be called the NNRA.. [new national rifle association or NAINRA... new and improved national rifle association..what ever...] but a new association...still in favor of the second amendment but also in favor of sane and common sense firearm laws for our country... Still in favor of the right to have fire arms for sport, competition, self defense, hunting...but also in favor of understanding that the part of defense of our country is left to our Armed forces...they to have those weapons of war..not the civilien side...at $40.00 yearly dues , same as old NRA and the one or two million of old NRA members who don't agree with old NRA leadership...plus picking up millions more from the non NRA gun owners ...they would have a nice kiddy to support politicians who were in favor of sane weapon rules and laws and possible we just might start getting the handle on this plague that seems is one only America is party to when u consider most of the civilized countries. Just a thought. ====================== "Given its high profile, it's easy to assume that the NRA represents the voice of American gun owners. But in fact, the organization's membership numbers and survey data point a different picture. Only a small fraction of the nation's gun owners are NRA members. Even among NRA members, there is widespread dissent from some key points of the organization's orthodoxy. And on many gun control issues, the majority of gun owners who aren't affiliated with the NRA hold opinions closer to those of non-gun owners than to those of NRA members." ------------------------------------------------ www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/10/15/most-gun-owners-dont-belong-to-the-nra-and-they-dont-agree-with-it-either/?utm_term=.68d0e791d079
