I believe every human is capable of despicable things, it just depends on how much pressure needs applied.

A total sum of “good” and “bad” is difficult to quantify, at the end of the day under the right conditions any of us could find ourselves facing life in prison.

Yes, I DO believe there are more good people than bad.  However, which type are in power determines how the world turns...

I tend to think most people consider themselves as good, overall.

I'd like to think there are more good people than bad, but then I read stories of 3 month old babies being raped, live Koala bears nailed onto posts, orangutans being shot 128 times, people torturing and killing others just for fun, endangered gorillas being used for target practice, albinos being killed "for luck", etc......I don't have much hope for the human race.

It's why ETs haven't bothered to contact us. We're barbarians.

I've always believed that there were more good people than bad, but I've got some doubts regarding what the proliferation of cell phones is doing to that equation.  The good people may still outnumber the bad, but they are a whole lot less effective than they once were because they now have their faces buried in their phones.

I spent a whole lot of my younger years incommunicado and bored.  Unless I had the foresight to bring reading material with me, I often had no way of amusing myself except by observing and talking to whoever I found myself with.  It was quite an effective way of learning to read other humans and I fear that spending our "bored time" staring a phones is doing something to us that equation. 

It's really quite shocking to me how unacceptable it now is to be alone in a public place and not have one's face illuminated by a cell phone.  It's now considered good form to ignore the folks around you and doing otherwise makes people suspect that you are either a predator or working a security detail.

Good people don't make the news. Also TV shows about bad people are way more interesting. Heck I am addicted to true crime shows. But I think there are way more good than bad

Yes, I do, just not at my job. I watch these people stab each other, lie, scam, etc daily. They are just not nice people.

Even the worst of us has something good in him/her! Otherwise life wouldn't be worth living.

I do think there are more good people.  Even people who are bad, may not even be as bad as they COULD be.  Obviously there are exceptions to that who embrace the  totality of evil but even criminals have moments where they might love someone or be kind or whatever.  But, for good people, there are "good" people as well who aren't committing crime but maybe arent so nice, kind, honest, either but they don't appear to be bad so they dont' get included in that category either.
