www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/nashville-mayor-admits-affair-with-ex-security-detail-chief/ar-BBIxeMb?ocid=spartandhpAt first reading this article I noticed that there no mention of political affiliation, I kinda thought that is nice that they are not politicizing this. There was no political affiliation, a very nice picture of her doing a speech, and a well written out apology. yes, it was very nice! Then, I said to myself,,,,wait a minute this is 2018, this is a political story, Oh NO WONDER, the story is from MSN,, You know that totally unbiased, never slant the news, right down the middle of the road reporting, MSN Yes, if this had been a Republican, the picture would have been something just short of that of a French whore , demands for her resignation, and some snarky comment about her character. There that corrects how MSN would have normally posted the story. Politicizing the story! Yea, the unbiased news source that is often quoted here! Oh Yea, Why is the male part of this retiring , but she keeps her job??

Missouri Governor Confirms Affair, Denies Allegations Of BlackmailAs for the retiring of the head of the mayor's security detail? He has been in law enforcement for 31 years. Maybe his spouse wanted him to retire. Thirty-one years in law enforcement is a long time. Add that to him telling his wife he had an affair, and his wife probably said enough.

I don't have a problem with officials who are voted in to retain their office in the face of a personal failing. The mayor was elected to run the city. If the voters aren't happy with how she is doing that (including if individuals feel it is important her spending time with someone other than her husband), they can vote her out at the next election. There appears to be an investigation to see if she misused public funds. If it is found that she did, then removal for that crime makes sense.

I don't care much either about the infidelity thing. (Obviously, any shady money issues are a different story.) It's up to her husband and family to forgive her and up to the voters to decide whether she has what it takes to preside over the city.
It does me make me doubt someone's intelligence and/or common sense, tho. Being in the public eye like that - chances are way better than even you are going to get caught. Now maybe she didn't care. I don't know. But if you aren't smart enough and/or have enough sense to keep your panties on (or pee pee in pants if male) while you are in office (knowing there is a good chance you'll get caught), are you smart enough and/or have enough common sense to be in a position like that?
I've asked that about a hundred times over the years regarding about 100 different politicians.

I don't know when the Nashville mayor's affair began but if it was very recent she might not have been thinking right in the head. This past July, she and her husband's only child, a son, age 22, died of a drug overdose in Denver.

Could be or maybe MSN doesn't run headlines of Mayor Fucked Guy Not Her Husband and fill the story with titillating details not all that necessary for the public to know what happened. I wonder when we will be told that people are going easy on her because she is something like a fourth cousin or something to Robert Mueller.

I could care less if she had an affair, MSN treated it so well because she was a Democrat.
Biased reporting.

You do realize your MSN 'article' is an Associated Press story which MSN simply printed, yes? And here is an Associated Press article NBC News printed reporting the resignation of a Democratic party congressional member after admitting to an affair. And outside of the article title, the first words in the story are Democratic Rep. Congressman resigns following sex allegations

If you look at MSN.com's home page you can see where the actual story originated from like the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Fox News, CNN, etc. MSN writes very little original news themselves.

If the AP has a similar bias, then why did the AP point out the political party of the Congressman (a Democrat) who resigned? (link in reply #14.) MSN also posts Fox News stories. Are you just as surprised MSN passes those stories along too? Fox reports are often biased too.

Power inequality and job security makes this relationship problematic.
