Of course he's going to hit up the rubes who believed his whole 'cheap and excellent healthcare for everyone' and 'big tax break for the middle class at the expense of the rich' bullshit. Not everyone can attend a Trump fund raiser at Maralago and fork over $100,000 per plate for the privilege of being in the room with the great man. Got to figure out a way to pass the plate and collect those nickels and quarters from the riff raff.

I keep getting emails from the Trump campaign asking for $1.00 or $3.00 for a chance to attend a fundraising dinner with the Great One. Last time, I wrote back and said Trump has billions and should be paying for his campaign himself. ETA: Turns out I got that email from Eric Trump.

They were originally going to go with Rex Tillerson approving a deal to sell 20% of our domestic uranium production to a Russian-owned entity in exchange for his wife delivering a speech in Russia for $500,000.00 plus massive donations to his family foundation-- but they went with this instead.

Wonder if there will be product placement? The product placement will be front and center in front of the camera.

Well, $1 or $3 sounds about right to eat dinner with Eric.

Actually there need to be a whole lot of zeroes added (before the decimal point) to make that happen and the money would have to come in my direction to make that happen <blech>

I guess I am not seeing the pay to play part, or quid pro quo.......they pay money and they get to see their name on Trump website livestream (not on national TV).......no promise of political favors or jobs for anyone's spouse or anything......
Or is there more to it that I am missing?

ibid.: For a payment of at least $35, contributors’ names will be displayed on Trump’s campaign website during the speech to the U.S. Congress, scheduled for 9 p.m. EST on Tuesday/0200 GMT on Wednesday. You seriously don't know what "Pay to Play" means? Is there something in the fine print that says every donor whose name flashes across the screen gets a government contract worth a few million?

It’s degrading the office even further. This money grubbing administration has sunk so low.

If they just listed the names on their website, that would be one thing. NPR does the same thing, at the end of it's programs, to thank it's donors. Running the donor names along a crawl at the bottom of the screen so you can sit and watch the state of the union while at the same time looking for your name to flash past - a little tacky.
Granted, for Trump and his gold plated everything, probably not tacky, but for regular presidents, tacky.
I don't know that I would call it pay to play.

of all the ways to get political campaign contributions, this seems pretty tame to me. he's basically selling space for a name on the campaign website's telecast. It's the campaign website. I personally think selling T-shirts, hats, etc. is worse

It could be worse.
