I guess it’s not quiet anymore. If they do, it says a lot and for those of his base who might say "who needs em "....we do.... to go along with this possibility, it seems there might be trouble in paradise... -------------------------------------------- "Melania Trump is not in Davos today. She was planning to go — her office had already announced that she would be there to “support the president” as he hobnobs with the global elites at the World Economic Forum. But the first lady is staying in Washington for what her office opaquely calls “scheduling and logistical reasons.” What happened? Well, one thing that happened was the disclosure that Donald Trump’s lawyer arranged a $130,000 payment to a porn star, reportedly to keep quiet about her decade-ago affair with Trump." ------------------------------------- To read complete article click on link below... ----------------------------------------------- www.yahoo.com/news/scandals-wake-melania-keeps-distance-donald-care-202535527.html

You know,, American politics, is it own worse enemy, It is hell bent on destroying itself!
If We were to drop back to say the Kennedy Presidency,, If something derogatory such as Trumps comment was said, It would have never left that room!
The discussion would have been taken care of behind those same doors.
But because today, we have the need to do what ever we can to destroy our enemy,, even if it one of us.
If the truth be spoken, This was only a political attack by Durbin meant to destroy his enemy,,,, Trump.
What ever repercussions that were needed should have been done in that room,, Or under the cover of the "backdoor justice.
So Durbin and over half this board is in favor of dragging this out in the public only to destroy its enemy, (the other side of the political thought) regardless of the fallout of world opinion!
Don't worry I am extremely aware that all sides are way guilty of this political and personal assassinations!
Especially the personal assassinations that take place every day on this board.

So Durbin and all the other Trump critics are the ones responsible for our tattered international reputation - they should have just shut up and smiled and loyally supported whatever Trump says and does so we look good to the non Americans? All righty then.

Most politicians make an effort to behave in a dignified, professional manner, even behind closed doors, even in tweets, because that gives their enemies less opportunity to embarrass them by repeating back their comments in public. Those politicians who say what they want suffer the consequences. On both sides. That's on them. The rest of us have no obligation to cover up their stupid comments so that America doesn't look bad.

The fact is the Donald brings it upon himself by his own tweets, words , mouth...He is the one who made political correctness a dirty word...He started with his own party members then started on his opponent..continues today on his predecessor and his defeated candidate...It is our Donald who is the instigator...now u are suggesting a free ride..? The AH has gone out of his way to play "the ugly American"...dissing old time allies all over the world..criticizing allies when they were attacked by terrorist, like they didn't have enough on their plate.u google...it was a big seller a few decades ago about Americans who traveled and Americans doings after WW2...Seems our Donald has brought the term back into favor... --------------------------------------------------- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ugly_American

The problem with pretending it didn't happen is- that doesn't change the fact that he (and his administration) are Racists. He has put Racists in powerful positions, and we need to fight him if we don't want to lose the country we know and love.
You can defend him to me, and tell me he is not a Racist and throw your talking points at me, but you will not convince me otherwise.
Do you know that I am Afraid to call Paul Ryan and go on record on what I think we should do about the dreamers. I don't want to be profiled by the Republican Party that is calling the FBI the enemy. I hope the 2018 Midterms won't be too late. We may have a Coup long before we get there.
On my way to work the other morning I was thinking my DH and I should buy the family guns. Lukily DD's boyfriend is a Sniper for the Marines, and currently in the reserves. We can seek his advice. I am also very worried that DH and I will end up on opposite sides in a civil war, from my family, and my DS might also not end up on the same side as the rest of the family.

From what I’ve read, he’s supposed to speak, Friday after most of the attendees have already left, and that it really didn’t matter who’s in attendance because the speech is more for tv and sound bytes than anyone in the room.

Trump damages himself in his constant tweeting, and media postings. What is said behind closed doors needs to stay behind closed doors. It creates an environment of no open discussion when you don't know which idiot is going to run and out tell the press you're an idiot to gain some political ground.

actually, this is the point. leftists are MORE LOYAL to international globalists and other foreign interests than they are to making America better. it's not that they can't fight like hell, it's that when you go outside the family, you're a unified front. don't show weakness in front of the faux intelligentsia at Davos, to make adjustment to an old saying this is the other side of the Russia argument So would you call spending 8 years calling our previous president a secret Muslim and trying to poke holes in his Hawaiian birth certificate 'providing a unified front' outside the family?
Or is it only being loyal to international globalists when liberals criticize the president, and patriotic when conservatives criticize the president?
Just want to make sure I understand the ground rules here.
(I recall being scolded for criticizing Bush Jr during the Iraq war by people who insisted I had to support our president during a war. Those same people immediately started saying 'he's not MY president' when Obama took over, so it's evident there are two sets of rules for libs and conservatives, just want to make sure I understand the difference.)

Think everyone in the room with him would just ignore that?
Everyone around Trump shouldn't have to learn to ignore his stupid behavior. Trump should learn to stop behaving stupidly.

Country is going through something right now...not the first time..1930's we had a Catholic Priest..."Father Coughlin"...every Sunday a radio broadcast nationwide....MILLIONS listened...[30 million....country population was what, 110 million or so, talk about a following..LOL] anti Semitic , pro Natzi, Pro Hitler right up to Pearl Harbor and our declaration of war..first Japan , then after Germany with us..we to them.. Then we had Senator McCarthy and the black list...anti communist witch hunts...We had Nam..the protests, marches..Nixon quits..Civil Rights in there some where...seems we got through it ok...think this one too.. As far as a weapon...your call...feel need it for your own home protection so be it but to think u need it because of a civil war thing happening...Naaaa and I've been there, done that...last thing on my mind... Now if something happened to our esteemed leader? Guess we would muddle on ok...no biggie..IMHO OF COURSE. That reminds me of something my former sister in law told me years ago...She was a student at some Woman's college in VA and when Kennedy was assassinated.. [can't tell u how deep the agony of that was on many parts of the country...something that happens else where plus with Jackie, the kids..Camelot] at her school the nations flag was not lowered as it was almost every where else...Students petitioned the President of the school to lower it...he refused...his reply to the request " people die every day" guess I would feel the same way regarding...then again, not all felt grief... ---------------------------------------------- "President of the Memphis Citizens Council Richard Ely told the Nashville White Citizens Council that "Kennedy died a tyrant's death. . . . He encouraged integration, which has the support of communism. He was a tyrant.", causing half of the room to leave.[33] In Biloxi, Mississippi, student Thomas Hansen was thrown across the front glass door after protesting against the banners of celebration of the local section of the John Birch Society before being hit with ultimately abandonated charges of vandalism.[34] As written by William Manchester in Death of a President: An Oklahoma City physician beamed at a grief-stricken visitor and said, "Good, I hope they got Jackie.” In a small Connecticut city a doctor called ecstatically across Main Street — to an internist who worshiped Kennedy — “The joy ride's over. This is one deal Papa Joe can't fix.” A woman visiting Amarillo, the second most radical city in Texas, was lunching in the restaurant adjacent to her motel when a score of rejoicing students burst in from a high school directly across the street. “Hey, great, JFK’s croaked!” one shouted with flagrant delight, and the woman, leaving as rapidly as she could, noticed that several diners were smiling back at the boy. In Dallas itself a man whooped and tossed his expensive Stetson in the air, and it was in a wealthy Dallas suburb that the pupils of a fourth-grade class, told that the President of the United States had been murdered in their city, burst into spontaneous applause. ---------------------------------------------- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactions_to_the_assassination_of_John_F._Kennedy-------------------------------------------- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Coughlin

The difference is, Obama knew what to say and what not to say....even behind closed doors. Trump is does not have this ability or intelligence. perhaps, but the media would have barely reported it. ala the general lack of outrage at his comments that he'd have considerable flexibility to basically lie to the American public once re-elected (to the Russians no less) As said before..our Donald brings / brought all this reaction on himself..his own doing...and the media, except for "Fox" which has become this Administrations defacto media "go to " source...is just reporting what the man tweets, says... Yes , has commentators available to explain what his words , tweets mean in their mind...Supposedly experts in politics, governments, Economics, finance ...former officials, representatives, Senators, cabinet secretaries even very occasionally , former Presidents...and no, if a criticism , not fake news...just news...

It would most likely have been kept out of the press. They would have made him pay in private. Also, we are not talking about Obama talking about people from this country. We are talking about Trump talking about other nations. They are not the same thing. Yes, Trump needs to shut his mouth. He is his own worst enemy. Instead, he his enjoying his one term in office, and is doing his best to tick off everybody he can. Ego on steroids.

This country was in trouble long before Trump got elected. In fact, it's what led to his election. Manufacturing job loss due to trade agreements. People trying to shove their own agendas over rights of the states to regulate themselves. Corrupt election policies on both sides. The whole thing has stunk for a good while.

Of course...since when does it not but the Donald from day one sure hasn't done anything to help bring people together... Remember a POTUS is suppose to be a POTUS for all America not just a small group he calls his base...and what is with his name calling like a school yard kid in grade school and the constant carping about his predecessor and former opponent..She is retired. Long service to the country.. He is retired...writing his book..yet he is still fascinated with both...guy is nuts.

I agree with you that those in power were given a level of secrecy that's no longer given to them today. But, I dunno. I don't think it's about destruction. Is exposing poor behavior destruction though? Because it sounds like you are advocating turning a blind eye to poor behavior. Or somehow excusing it because people in power are in POWER and that excuses them from natural consequences of their behavior... Now, personally, I don't think people in power are absolved from dealing with the natural consequences of their behavior, simply because they are in power. That only the little folks in the world have to deal with natural consequences of their behavior..

Those same people immediately started saying 'he's not MY president' when Obama took over, so it's evident there are two sets of rules for libs and conservatives, just want to make sure I understand the difference.)
Happyhoix,, Maybe you could show where alwaysbeoptimizing has EVER said any of those things! Always was complaining about that Durban was repeating bad things that Trump said in public and that America needed to present a united front to the international community. I pointed out that all through the previous 8 years, many republicans talked about Obama being secretly Muslim and not even American, which also did not present a united front to the international community.
I never said Always said those things. My sentence started with 'you would call' meaning would Always consider how the GOP congress people behaved towards Obama 'presenting a united front.'
