Paying to have a rock chip repaired in my windshield today which will hopefully keep me from buying an entire new windshield. (I have liability only on my truck because of it's age, so paying for the repair out of pocket.) Went to Starbucks this morning and used a gift card. Got $9.70 back after tax this morning from last week's double charge at wally world. So glad I caught it! Have processed 3 receipts via WW Savings Catcher with no savings thus far. Not impressed. Disregard! I just checked the latest receipt and we got $1.44 back. Woo hoo!

But every dollar store nearby that puts out an ad gets matched with. I've made roughly $150 since I started using it.

I find it to be hit or miss. I put all my receipts in. I shop the ads for the grocery store right by my house. I get most produce and meat there as well.
I cashed out $30 last year towards stuff for my wedding showers. I have another $10 sitting there right now. I go more now that I've moved. The one by my old house was not that cheap, not a nice store and it was right by Wegmans which is pretty cheap.

Since I buy food at the grocery store, I'll only be matching HBAs, cleaning supplies, etc. I've made just over $31 since starting it several years ago in Jan 2015 (haven't bothered since last August until now). Not bad considering we're a small DINK household. $31 is nothing to sneeze at.

having spent my entire driving career licensed and insured in MA, even if I briefly lived elsewhere, it still amazes me when I hear of other states not covering windshield replacements. is that more common than what I'm used to?

My last windshield replacement was right around the same as my deductible. I think 10 less, or something like that. So basically not covered. Chips are covered 100% though, no matter what the deductible is. At least with USAA.

yeah, we don't even have a deductible here. you get one replacement a year that's covered.

Your state or insurance covers windshield replacements? Here it's insurance related. If you have comprehensive coverage on your insurance policy, you may get your windshield replaced for free, depending on your deductible. ie if you have a zero deductible, it's replaced for free. A $100 deducible means you would pay $100 of a $300 windshield, and so on. My truck insurance is $20/mo for liability only. Putting full coverage on a 17-year-old vehicle isn't worth it, IMO. So, I'll happily pay the $123 for today's chip repair.

I suppose I should say that state insurance regulations require it to be covered by insurance.
interesting, though. thanks for the explanation!

As you guys know I like old things. I have my hair dryer with bonnet mom bought for me in the 8th grade. I had issues with the hose coming out of it about 4 years ago so found the exact same one on the internet. Fast forward to a few days ago, it started squealing and I was not happy. I mean the thing is what only about 60 years old. So took it apart yesterday, could not get the cover off but cleaned the crumbling foam out of the top, helped a bit. Hubs looked today and found the little off and on switch just pulled out. I took my old original apart, it was very dirty inside so cleaned it and put the newer hose and little switch piece on it, so it works fine. On the old hose got it back together and decided to oil the little fan in it, lo and behold the things works great again. I'm going to take my old one back apart and put a drop of machine oil on it too as a preventative. These were General Electric products, made that long ago that still work today. Oh I also bought a new bonnet years ago. This was the kind of quality items we used to make. The one was used most weeks of my life. I do use a blow dryer sometimes but still like this better. Guess I'm stuck in a rut.

I can't recall if I've ever had an HBA match, it all seems to be food. It will depend on your local stores too. If they are already pretty inexpensive, you're probably SOL.

You've never seen the old school hood type hair dryers? I assume that's what she's talking about. It's what I'm picturing anyway.

CL, the first one is what I see in salons. the 2nd sounds more like the description, and no. I have never seen one before.

I think my mom had one of both when I was a kid. I'm surprised she doesn't still have them. Mom's salon looking one was that good old avocado green.

I used the second hair dryer when I was in high school. I was so happy when blow dryers came out.

It's a newer version of the one chocolate lover posted, I like to roll my hair, use mousse on it and it stays in better. I think the less hair is dried the better condition it stays in. These have a gentle heat and I like it. They still have a bunch of them on ebay General Electric Deluxe hairdryers. I do my hair about every 3 days, sometimes 2, but try to stretch it till 3. When I was young, my hair was so thick, sometimes I would sleep with one of those on almost all night to get it dry. I sure don't have that problem now, but I wore it long back then too. I had beautiful hair, sigh.

I went to the grocery, got canned corn on sale, some apples, and some corn on the cob. Had 6 for $2, hubs thinks that's outrageous, he is still living back in our younger years where this stuff only cost X number of dollars, well I just wouldn't buy it. I said at that rate you wouldn't eat anything and he certainly likes to eat. Groceries were $72 and today I did well. Gas was $40 something. I got a fillet of fried fish at the deli, they have really good food, ate it got a DQ milkshake on the way home. I was fixing hubs cheeseburgers and I don't care for them much, and made DD a box chef boy r de pizza, so everyone is happy tonight. I made a peach pie from home canned peaches, trying to use up our canned goods before this canning year. I took about 6 empty jars to the basement, we are moving through that stuff. Lots of tomato juice yet, its so good, but I need to put a bit of lemon juice and Worcestershire in it before we drink it. Mom used to put it in when she canned it, adds a nice snap. It will be some time before fresh things come off so we have time. I found a few things 4 years old and I'm not eating that. When you openit, its sealed and smells really good, but by that time the color starts getting off. If we were starving or something would, but as it is no. I'm also trying to use up meat and other frozen items so the freezers can be cleaned, have a long way to go. I did not buy meat or any goods I already have.

Not so small, lol, but we bought a new wooden garden table and chairs today. The old ones were literally falling apart. The store was offering 15% off if you got their store card. I never get store cards but that was a good deal. But they don't give you the discount immediately ... they give you gift vouchers for 15% of what you spend the day you open the card. You can use the vouchers as of the next day. We didn't need anything else. So we bought the table and four chairs, and received 59 euros in vouchers. I'll go back tomorrow with the vouchers, add 11 euros, and get the 2 other chairs. It's an hour trip (total). It will cost us 401 euros (plus an extra trip to the store) instead of 460 euros, for the table and six chairs. I'm really pleased! ETA: With the card we can pay interest-free over 3 months, so that's what we're doing.

I spent $30 at the deli for dinner last night, wasn't much good. Today I'm cooking, hubs is over taking his aunt and mom out for ice cream. I don't know how he sits there that long and listens to them repeat over and over and over, drives me insane. He needs to start taking DD and I out someplace and not there. He is usually to tired at ght after working around here to go. Sunday is his day off. I have to go over next week and see that she gets to the podiatrist. Been trying to order carnival prizes but the internet was not moving and couldn't will try again soon. The festival committee gave me a budget of $300, I will likely add a bit of money to it. I have been doing really well not spending, need to keep it up through next month.

I can't claim that I saved money because I spent it. But it was ON SALE! Lol. I got a new outdoor mat for the deck and a new set of windchimes. The string had broken on my old set, and I mended it too many times. I can hear them from my bedroom, and it gives me an idea of how much the wind is blowing. Plus, a really good set is very soothing. But I did go to breakfast with DH at IHOP. Since he paid, that counts as savings for me, right? I ordered off the 55+ menu and drank water. It was good, but the omelet had a little too much cheese for my preference.

We go camping with a group of 4-5 other couples a few times a year. We’ve had the same tent since 2011, including a few trips where it rained the whole time, so despite our best efforts, by last fall it was smelling not so fresh. I’ve been browsing new ones for a while since our first trip is next month, but I bought the last one off-season for about 60% off and couldn’t bring myself to pay list price.
DH was at his parents’ house yesterday to fix SIL’s truck and his mom offered up their truck camper (and truck) for that weekend. If we can borrow it for both trips this summer, we should be able to buy a tent in the off season after all, but even if not, I have another 3+ months to find one. My in-laws are the best.

I'm not so sure it wasn't his dad, he was a, well not very nice person in my book. She always says she loves her etc, but just to late no matter who it was at least for me. I don't hate her or anything, I pity her and I do visit on occasion. Hubs finally quit insisting I go. I'm sure she was a good mom to he and his brother, I suppose his dad was. He just always seemed like a hateful person to me, but who knows. I am getting ready to work on her guardianship report, have to get forms and fill change of status out for VA since she moved into a different room. Any change requires that. I do all the paperwork, buy clothing, hubs has been doing the running, getting her meds, though looks like there are changes coming in that. So I do what I can to help him. I don't know this could be karma as the thing she never wanted was to go someplace like that or have the issues she has. Then on top of it to be long lived, I cannot imagine her days are very pleasant at times. But I likely will end up the same way. Who knows. I know at times she and her sister both blame me for being there, partly true I'm sure.

Dad was a man who never showed his emotions. I don't think he ever told me he loved me until the dementia started and he repeats what is said to him. He's not a mean man, but he has dementia and he loved mom. I would probably feel different if he had not been kind to your daughter, but that is not our situation. My point is that they can't help the repeating. It's the dementia and it's not going to change.
