Sunday night, I was checking my savings account balance. This account is my slush fund in that when it gets to a certain balance, I take half that and invest it in an account at Fidelity. This account is NOT tied to my ATM card in any way, or it is not supposed to be.
Last time I looked, I was pretty sure that October's auto deposit was going to tip me over. But Sunday, it was about $400 short. Huh? I looked at debits, and there was a $445.68 ACH debit to Kubota tractor. Not mine. I called USAA Sunday night at 10 pm, and disputed it.
Then I go to bed and start thinking. A few days before the date of that debit, I used my ATM card at a different location, a pub out in Bow. Not a smart move, but TD had wiped out both of our cash to pay the guy fixing the chimney and I hadn't gotten to an ATM to replace it. Next morning, I was going to lunch with my neighbor at this pub, so I used their ATM. Probably not smart. So I get to thinking that maybe my ATM card IS linked to savings too and if that ATM was compromised, so was my card and I'm going to get both accounts wiped out. I get out of bed and call USAA again to make sure that they aren't linked in any way. The company had manually input the number, and it was apparently miskeyed.
The money was back in my account Tuesday.

Glad it worked out for you. Technology is a blessing and a curse!
