Ava - weren't you talking about taking a vacation with your mother late November and/or early December?
If you really want to move to Florida, you need to make that your priority. I'd recommend spending your vacation time there job hunting. You can meet with recruiters and also make other professional connections.
Have you considered other southern states? Georgia and southern Texas come to mind. The weather is similar and you may have an easier time getting hired.

After much soul searching and conversations with mom and my best friend I have reached a decision.
I will continue to job search here in CT. Once I get my license I am moving back home. The economy has expanded with many international companies doing business there.
I have a place to stay and medical coverage. Family and friends who love me and plenty of support and time to job search without pressure. I am very happy with my decision. Just an update for those of you who care about me.

That's great that you've made your decision. And, when it's time to retire, you still have Florida as an option.

I really like your plan, Ava. I didn't realize moving back to South America was an option. But I am thrilled for you that it is.
How long did you say you have to work here to get your license?

I was also wondering about the CPA license is South America.
Even if it's just for your pride, Ava, get the license so if you decide to move back to the US, you have it.
I'm guessing you can get your CPE credits online when it comes time to keep it up to date if you so choose.

Yes I am from South America. The license would be awesome for international companies doing business there. Also in case I have to come back. And what the heck I want to have it.
It will take two years in CT. My manager said once my application for CT gets approved i may be able to get the job I need with my current company. Fingers crossed. I have a dinner appointment with my former professor in two weeks. I am confident a job will turn up. I hope CT approves my application soon. I'll keep everybody updated and thanks for the support.

Yesterday I got my application back from the state of CT. They turned it down. So I sent them an email and they informed me that they don't process applications that are not going to be completed in the next 12 months. Since CT requires two years of experience and I have none they turned me down. I sent them another email asking them how can I make sure I fulfill all the requisites before accepting a job here in CT. I don't want to start working and one year down the road find out I don't qualify. The process is very different to the one in Florida. In Florida you send all your paperwork and they tell you if you qualify and what else you have pending. Their system is way more user-friendly. Waiting for their answer back but apparently all I have to do now is find a job and start working. My manager is not here today but tomorrow I'll talk to him so we can go to HR and find out my chances of getting a job with my current company.

Thanks for the link and yes I qualify. They answered that I need to have at least one year of experience before I apply. So I hope tomorrow I can talk to my manager and see if I can get a job with this company.

Ava- can you get hours with volunteering as well as a paid job. Maybe volunteer somewhere to help get the ball rolling.

But, honestly, I don't know where you can find a volunteer opportunity that would count for your CPA hours. Besides, it would have to be on weekends or nights, because I work during the day and I need the income.

I would try calling around to some medium non-profits. See if they have a CPA on staff and let them know you would like to volunteer under them for experience and when you can do so. The worst they can say is no. I said medium because large ones may source it out, and small ones may not have one.
