The man in the cube next to me has a steady stream of chitter chatter all day long, talking out loud to himself. Oh you son of an onion, what, okay I see. aha I got it, laughter out loud, and on and one. I have pretty much learned to tune that out but what really drives me up the wall is the fact that he doesn't use a kleenix. He just sniffs really loudly when he needs to blow his nose. Get him a box of Kleenex if you're sure he doesn't have allergies. I agree, but even if he does have allergies incessant sniffing is rude. Sadly, many people have no idea they are doing it until it's brought to their attention.

I have a collection. The fashion police. The food police. Toxic personalities. The guy who doesn't want to do his job, so he hands it off to someone else to do. The woman in accounting that if a purchase order is off by pennies will hand it over to get my signature that it's okay to pay. A few that will insist that you stop what you are doing so you can take care of their issues (because they are more important than anything you could be doing at that moment) Give her a notorized letter that says "All POs that have a variance of less than 5 dollars are approved to pay."

I work with one person. She's kind, efficient, reliable, and intelligent. I am so fortunately. Some of the other attorneys i deal with though, oy. A few narcissistic bloviating blowhards. A few completely incompetent boobs. 1 super creepy dude. Unfortunately lawyers talk just to hear themselves talk. It's not just lawyers. 😇

The image of an "incompetent boob" I had a pretty hard time nursing, so I'd say incompetent boobs exist.

Last place I worked full time, I had an office manager who screamed and cursed when any little thing set her off. She smashed phones and cabinet doors, literally to the break-and-replace point. A lot of the time, she was fine. But when angry, she had zero filter. She turned bright red in the face and stomped and yelled and threw things. I know she was a domestic violence victim in her first marriage and maybe that's where the anger management issues began. She was so loud when mad, people on the other end of my phone conversations could hear her - and there was an office wall between her desk and mine.
Prior to that, I had the classic egotistic one-upman coworker - anything you owned, did, bought or suffered from, she had it, did it, or suffered from it better than you. And there was no finishing a sentence in her presence, no providing a correct answer. You were always wrong.

And there was no finishing a sentence in her presence, no providing a correct answer. You were always wrong. And she got away with this? No HR intervention, no employees suing her or the company, no repercussions? She did very good work. As far as I know, she is still there. Her bosses (two general managers and two assistants in the 14 months I was there) just looked the other way. In a calm state, she is very likable. But when she goes off, there's no "off" switch on her anger until she just runs out of steam. Case in point: I was there about a month or so, and I performed a procedure incorrectly. It wasn't anything dangerous or deadly and was easily corrected. In fact, the best way to handle it was for her to let me know about it and redo the procedure so I would learn it. Good teachable moment, right? Nope. She stood at the office window, waiting for me to arrive (I came to work an hour later and left and hour later than she did, so the office hours were covered). She pounced on me and started yelling before I even put my purse and lunch away. As the office manager, her job was to manage paper, not people. She could have told my boss, and he could have walked me through the correct procedure if she was that mad. She could have put the issue in writing. But she waited and swooped in. I never forgot or forgave that incident.

At a previous employer there was this guy at corporate who was my equal that was running a project I was on who didn’t know what the hell he was doing. We flew a long way for the most important week of the project and he called in 3 days straight with a cold, this was after missing another week in the project for a BS reason.
I advised leadership what was going on and made it aware to his employees how shitty it was that he was avoiding his job. This guy is pretty much considered an asshole by everyone in the company but is protected by one person, he came back on day 4 and started to diss me in front of his team and in front of one of my employees and I went off on him. He sat his ass down. Found out later his employees wanted to stand up and cheer because he treats them like crap.
Sometimes, sometimes I really love my job.

I wanted to work 4 more years. My small pension, and Social Security at 62 would be enough to meet my needs without touching my retirement accounts. The coworkers I've had for the last 5 years have driven me to the point that I'll go now, and tap the retirement accounts. I can't take this garbage any longer. Lazy, whiners never come to work.

Would the woman whose personal hygiene is so bad all the woman gripe about it please go soak in the cow dip. I'm sure you have ticks too. Also, stay away from me until I can get some more coffee beans to put in a plastic bag in my desk drawer. Sniffing the beans gets the smell out of my sinuses.

Ugh, holler "blow your nose!" I used to work with a guy who proudly often blew his nose. It was like a giant goose, or horn/honk sound. It was like a cartoon.

Well, you could leave a note in her mailbox!!! Considering how much the female coworkers complain, a female supervisor needs to tell her something. Years ago, a supervisor had to tell a male, and a female coworker to bathe. She'd leave with dirt on her arm, and come back with it there the next day.

I once had to tell a female co-worker she needed to bathe more often. Her male manager couldn't bring himself to do it, so he told me to do it and he wasn't my manager.
She lived on a small farm and told me she showered every morning and then did her farm shores. No wondered she smelled like a farm. I told she should do her chores and then take a shower. It actually worked.
I should have been given an award. All I got was thank you from the manager.

That's alright, I had to tell a 5th grade girl, not in my class, that she needed to wear underwear as well as shorts under her dress at PE. Especially when doing the rope climb which is when her male teacher became aware she wasn't wearing underwear. 🙁

I wanted an award because the male manager thought he couldn't tell her because he was male. He got paid more than I did. It wasn't fun. The government can give out awards for as little as $25. I know because I got one once. He could have given me a measly $25 award because I did it and it was still working when I retired and she did not hold it against me. We were never friends, but were on good terms at work.
Sadly she had a heart attack one morning while doing her chores and died. This was after I retired.

Some almost unbelievable people described in the above posts!
Wish anybody still affected by the people and situations described strength to deal with them in such a way that they are not losing out from having had the bad luck of getting such lousy co(ntra)workers!

I was just going to come on here and complain about the guy in the cube next to me that is constantly sniffing snot. He must have allergies because he's been next to me for probably 7 months and it's been non-stop sometimes getting really bad. This past week I think he's actually sick because it's been an unending stream of hawking and coughing and sniffing. I do kind of feel bad for him, because obviously it sucks for him, but damn, he is the most unhealthy sounding person ever and it's not fun sitting next to it for 8 hours a day.

He's leaving for two weeks in FL on Friday. If you hear someone you think has TB it's probably him.

I know this because he's been on the phone with the hotel nearly every day since the hurricane.

Today, I have a colleague who is complaining because in doing my job, I'm not copying her on every email that doesn't involve her. She used to do my job, now she works in a different department. She's mad because she's not being kept in the loop of my job and department. Um, didn't you take this other job to not have to deal with the "crap that comes with this job" as you put it?
I was out of the office last week for work travel, and today is my first day back. At 9:07 this morning, I decided that I should have stayed on the road for another week. Gah!
