We just bought $450 tires? No car payment for about 5 years now, though.
We just max retirement accounts at this point, so 18K to 401K, 5500 to a Roth IRA, and 5500 to a regular IRA. No matches.
There's also some stock/stock options, but they are in my the company my husband works for, so we'll just count it as winning the lottery if they ever pay out.

No car payments, but $500 goes into the car fund every month. When it's time for a new car, it gives me flexibility. I can pay cash, or choose a zero-percent or really low-rate loan and put the $500 toward car payments every month without having to make any budget adjustments.
I'm retired but still put $3000 or so into investments every month.

This is YM.
I have no car payments. I bought my unicorn 1987 honda in 1999 with 200,000 miles on it for $1,000. It's still going strong at 530,000 miles.
I save all but $850 a month.

My car payments is something crazy like 500/month. But it was zero percent interest, so paying cash or not, whatever...
I think we save/invest about 3 grand per month.

No car payment. Currently retired, so I'm taking out from, not adding to, investments. The good news is that the balance is up 9% since I retired in May, 2014.

2 cars, no car payment. I save around $7500/month right now, but that's dependent on how well my business does month to month.

Car payment is $216/ month. We save about $3500 - 4000 each month between 401k's and investments.

Currently no car payment - just finished paying it off (a 5 yo loan)
2016 looked like this: Monthly: car payment: $219, Roth: $400 (with a once a year $1,700 lump sum deposit to max it), 401K no match: 1400 a month (with an extra 1400 for the 2 extra checks) + more from merit bonus, holiday bonus, and 1 week vacation buy out. After Tax: $500
About $2300 a month to retirement savings (with some months being much more).
So, 2016 played out as: $2,628 cost of car loan to approx $33,000 saved for 'retirement' 2016 was the 2nd year I added in an "after tax" savings amount - 2015 I did $250 a month.
(the biggest car payment I've ever had was $350 a month for 5 years)

Well, I'm not in some people's league. DH's $$$ don't really factor in since we save those in a house account for maintenance, etc. I earn a little over $5000 a month ($61000 a year). Out of that, this is my car payment and retirement contribution: - Car payment on two cars = $0. One is a 2006 Corolla with 105,000 miles. One is a $2007 or 08 Bmw 3-series with about 80,000 miles. There's been minimum maintenance along the way, especially for my Corolla.
- Pension payment at 7.5% is $391.21 a month. There's not exactly a match, but it goes toward a pension that pays me 2% per year worked at my highest 3 out of 10 years. So that will be about $32,500 for me because of additional work I've done for the system.
- Roth is $541.66 (I think) or whatever adds up to $6500 a year.
- RSA-1 is $450. This is unmatched and is like a 457b or whatever the numbers are. It is a deferred compensation account.
I'm not a big player, but that comes to about $1382 a month that I'm contributing. That's not bad considering my salary. I also contribute extra $$$ toward the mortgage, put $1200 a year into a Christmas Club account, have personal savings, etc.
You know the expression "house poor"? I am savings poor.

Car note $0
Retirement $1550 a month plus 16% of any overtime.
Additional Savings $350 a month
I don't include anything I save from overtime in other accounts. The overtime is mad money for travel, and other fun.

Wow I'm feeling very un-ym. $308 on the car (1 of two, the other is paid) and $1500 total to 401k and IRA, another $100 goes to a taxable, not really ear marked for retirement though. DH is also working towards a military pension but I won't count that until he hits 20 years.

0 car payments. Can't really afford them.
Retirement: likely 1K or so a month. I dunno. That's pension +403b and 457 contributions. My pension takes 7% of my income, plus my employer adds 7%.
We also were putting away $100/month in my HSA.
We've been rebuilding our savings, albeit slowly. For a while, we were enjoying stashing another 300-400/month. Unfortunately, we've had to spend down some of that for my implant, a new stove, and a new garage door (both the actual door and the opener). Turns out...25-40 year old stuff breaks. Two steps forward, one step back.
We're also looking at supporting a family of 5, soon to be 6 on 75K a year. And, my kids are entering the expensive phase of life. And I'm also cashflowing at least 50% of my masters program.
Snowflake money for retirement: about 900/month for DH and I.
We're still on track for retirement. We have about 8x our expenses right now saved, excluding our pensions. We are in our early 40s. Our pensions, passive income, and me working my part time job 5 hours a week should cover our expenses.
Which means we don't really need to rely on our retirement accounts, at least until we get old enough where we'll have high medical bills or unless we want a big splurge.
I'm likely going to have to work until I'm 60..I'll have 18 years to accrue sick leave that will then be converted to health insurance premiums through my job. My friend retired from the state at 55 and had enough sick leave accrued to pay for 7 years of family health care premiums.. I'm guessing DH and I will only need to foot the bill for health insurance premiums for 2-3 years, unless they really push out when one qualifies for Medicare 70 or even later.

Can I use numbers from this time last year?!
I was at $0 car payment, $1900/month toward retirement.
However, I'm currently directing money toward more "urgent" needs, since I feel my early retirement contributions will allow me to coast a couple years without losing out in the end (my firecalc has a 100% success rate, even with more spending than I earn at this point). So...
Car died, and I bought a "new" car, which I decided to make payments on rather than pull the all the money from the bank. Car payments are now $230, but I pay $300, and retirement is down to $845/month (I reduced it at the beginning of the year, well before taking on a car payment). The car payment sucks. I had only ever had a car payment for 12 months until this August. I'd have way more money if I just told DS I won't pay for any of his college!

Well this thread has gotten me to review my YTD numbers and I am feeling a little better about that past year. I am enrolled full time in school and cash flowing the tuition as I go, so I cut back on our investments to fund it. But looking at my monthly average for the year, I guess it hasn't been as bad as it seemed. It has just been very intermittent, in between tuition payments for each quarter.
car payment - 0 monthly investing - 2700
