Dos Equis released him, and I am sure he worked out some kind of agreement with them not to promote another beer. A non-compete clause, along with some $$$$ was part of the parting deal for sure.
But nothing said about not promoting another different beverage. A lot of give and take in the business, also possibly done to prevent a lawsuit on his part against Dos Equis parent company, which happens to be Heineken. The actual brewery is Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V., located in Mexico. Many people think he was let go because of his age, and the new one hired because he is younger and better looking, and so appeals to a younger, hipper crowed of drinkers.

But will he still be able to call himself "The Most Interesting Man in the World" and have all those wacky phrases? I would think that would count as copyright infringement or something from Dos Equis.....especially since Dos Equis still has a "Most Interesting Man".......this small tequila commercial kind of implies this dude is still "The Most Interesting" (which like I said I would think is kind of infringement)......but whatevs, I LOVE it
