Similar to the "big event when you were in high school" thread, let's also date ourselves with some old slang we know / heard from back in the day
more than one post is encouraged....and those that heard the slang back in the day or know what it means should "like" that post
whatcha think?

There were so many but yet...I'm drawing a blank. I'm from MA where "wicked" is standard but that's all that pops into my head.

Barf. It was slang before it became a standard word. My parents used to get peeved with me when I used it.

Everything was cool man. Unless of course, you were a dork. All I remember is Disco everywhere, and platform shoes. Oh. And Earth shoes. I thought Dr Scholl's would be around forever. (image won't post) I was glad "jellys" didn't last long! I have to admit, I was confused when people started using "sick".

Thankfully I wasn't old enough for any of those shoes. Ye Gods. I had Sesame Street sneakers and Buster Brown Mary Janes with frogs on them. I will admit I did have a pair of those jelly shoes in purple. Maybe that's why I can't stand purple? you were a dork - I still am!!!

Calling someone a douche bag was big in high school back in the late 60s.
I went to Catholic High school and my mechanical drawing teacher was a nun. There was a student in my class who appeared to be pretty much stoned all the time. One day in class he asked the nun what a douche bag was. The nun laughed and told him to go ask his mother.

clod hopper, I made that statement one day and a young girl said what does that mean, I decided why explain so said just an old timey saying
used to be people here called polish people polocks, a lot of them came here to work in the mines
cattywampus or cattycorner
clinkers in a coal stove
hobnail boots
gully washer
haints
enamel ware menders
I know not acceptable now but things that were fixed badly was "ni**er rigged"
