Yesterday my son and his friend (agirl) got into an argument with some kids at school. They were all taken to the office. My son and his friend were in the back writing statements and one of the other girl's Mom busts in the office yelling "Where is that bitch that wanted to fight my daughter". The kids out front point to the back, the woman busts in the office my son and his friend were in, confronts them, cursing at them and putting her finger in their faces, hits the girl and those 2 started fighting. Then other kids run from the front and jump in, all fighting this 1 girl. My son tries to pull a kid away, they turn around and start fighting him. This is how I got the story from the administrators, school security and the police officer on the scene. Less than 2 months before graduation, everybody gets expelled. Fortunately, after reviewing all the statements and talking to everybody, one administrator decided that because of the way it happened, she would change my son and his friend's expulsion to a loooong suspension so they would both still be able to graduate. So this grown ass woman comes on campus to fight some kids that were arguing with her daughter and starts a brawl that gets these kids kicked out of school right before graduation. What the hell kind of person is she? Parents like her are why so many kids are nuts.

I wouldn't believe any of it until I read the police report.

The adult assaults the girl, causes mayhem and all the kids start brawling?
I think I would have filed police charges against her.

Police report? Remind me to show you the police report from my accident. I distinctly recall being T-boned but the police report says head-on collision...going the same direction! (Not a dent to be found on the front of my vehicle.) Accuracy was lost in America waaaaay back when the schools failed.

Damn Pink, I think she should be sleeping with one eye open for a loooooooooonnnnnggggg time. And this is also what's wrong with a zero tolerance policy. If the adult started it, the kid that was attacked doesn't deserve to be punished for that one and from what you said the 1st fight didn't actually get physical so no suspension needed there either. I hate stupid rules and stupid adults.

Sorry but that tends to be the most accurate account of what happened. Getting your information from the parties involved is never good.

What kind of adult curses out and hits a kid? If you have that many anger management issues, the last thing you should THINK about doing is going down to the school when you're that pissed. People are just ghetto and trashy nowadays.
And if I found that an adult was assaulting my child, they had better hope that DH responds before I do.

My son's friend's mother did press charges against the other mother.
I'm undecided about what to do about my son. I tell him to mind his own business, but I can't honestly say that I would've stood by and let a bunch of people jump on a friend of mine, so I can't really be upset with him for that. Plus he didn't just jump into the fray, he was trying to stop it. My son has NEVER gotten in trouble at school for fighting.
Pig, the words of the administrators, security and police on the scene were enough for me. That's on top of the statements of other kids that were in the office at the time. I don't think EVERYBODY is lying. If it were just my son's version, yes I'd have to do more investigating.

How old are these "kids"? And how would the admistrators know what happened? They were there and did nothing to stop it?

I think she should be banned from school property too, but I'm mean like that and expect adults to act like adults and suffer if they don't.

moneyjenny, that's what I was thinking. If the Mom wouldn't have come to the school acting a fool, it would've just ended as an argument between the kids. My son and his friend took the cursing, name calling, and finger in the faces, but when she actually punched the girl, the girl hit back and all hell broke loose.

All high school seniors, so 17 and 18 I imagine. It was lunchtime, most of the administrators were out monitoring lunch. There was 1 female employee in office at the time, I believe.

I can't answer what is wrong with people cause I can see this happening unfortunately. BUT my BIG questions would be where were these school security officers and all the administration when this woman came in? From my perspective this woman should never have been allowed near other students. I mean in our system you can't even say to a parent" your johnny hit so and so" to protect everyone's confidentiality....

Ah ok I was picturing little kids. I'm glad I've never heard of anything remotely resembling this happening near here. Good luck to you in handeling it.

But wasn't that a rant on another thread some time ago? How every grade now has graduation?
Okay - never mind, I just realized I was supporting Pig. Back to lunch for me......

That sounds horrible, Pink. I'm glad your son and his friend get to graduate, at least. I hope the charges filed against that mother stick. I have no idea WTE is wrong with society in general these days. MJ is right, so many people act trashy. Everyone seems to live their life like it's an episode of Jerry fucking Springer and take pride in being loud, confrontational and violent as the way to prove that "nobody can push me around". People have also forgotten how to have a private thought or moment....it all needs to be tweeted or put as a constantly updated FB status.

Yeah, but thanks to the "zero tolerance" in most schools it wouldn't matter if he was in the right. Not agreeing with it, just saying.

Yeah, but thanks to the "zero tolerance" in most schools it wouldn't matter if he was in the right. Not agreeing with it, just saying. I know - it's the stupidest thing. If some kid just starts wailing on another kid, why should the kid who did nothing get punished? If I knew I'd get suspended either way, I'd rather go down fighting.

TD, can I call you my "supporter"? Yeah Jenny I made it very clear to my son that if any puts their hands on him with the intention of hurting him he should feel free to defend himself contrary to what the teachers tell the kids.

Yes, the zero tolerance policy was why they still got a suspension. The administrator had to do something, because they WERE fighting, regardless of how it started. I don't like the suspension, but it is better than being expelled like they were at first.
I wonder how the other Mom feels about the part she played in her daughter being unable to graduate now. I doubt if she even acknowledges what she's done. It's probably someone else's fault.
lulubean, Thanks!

imawino, I missed your post at first. The friend's Mom came to me while I was at the school and practically begged me not to be too hard on my son. She said she knows he's in trouble for fighting, but she's also glad he was there to help her daughter. She apologized for the mess even though she had nothing to do with it.
Now I'm hearing that my son's friend is being threatened on facebook............. talk about coming to her house and shooting it up. WTF??? Does it ever stop?
