US Dollar hit a 15 month low today! -7.2% this year!!! ALL HAIL KING UBU!!!! brought you by the committee to Make America Surreal Again.
note to the board: this is actually really good for me, as a manufacturer and an investor. my exports are now cheaper, which means more customers abroad will buy them. it also means that precious metals will go higher, which is where i have been primarily invested for the last (18) months. were it not for the fact that i think Trump will be disastrous for the US, i would be stoked right now.
If I remember correctly, Trump campaigned on the theory the dollar was too high on the world market, and should fall against the Euro. Sounds like he did it! You should be happy with your manufactured product now being cheaper on the oversea market.

I don't know. First link that came up: Best States RankingsWashington - 5 (lowest ranking in any area #25) Arkansas - 48 (highest ranking in any area #29) Why would I EVER envy someone who had to live in Arkansas? interesting survey. only one blue state in the bottom 10, only 2 red states in the top 10. dj, I see Indiana was one ahead of California in the survey with California winning in healthcare, Education, and crime, which were over weighted stats and Indiana still beat them. We beat them in infrastructure which shocked me. And there were other blue states that were lacking.

Nowhere near as much as they would be if you had invested during Obama's presidency.

It pissed me off at the hypocrisy you show. you think that because i am more concerned for people in general than myself that it makes me a hypocrite? how about it making me a good Christian, a loyal patriot, and someone who actually is concerned with the fate of mankind, rather than a self-serving asshole? this is where conservatives like yourself have come utterly off the rails. you think that making me wealthy will trickle down to you. but the fact is that making me wealthy will mean that i have an apartment not just in Malta, but Costa Rica. thanks for that, but it is not going to do ANYTHING for you. what is good for me is almost guaranteed to be bad for the 90%. the 10% are laughing all the way to the bank. at your expense. but because i refuse to laugh, that makes me a hypocrite? i can take that criticism, if that is what you think. your perspective is wicked, imo.

A quick followup just on education showed that Indiana was 47th on their list for higher education while being 11th for Pre-K to 12th grade. So yes, if you are talking only about higher education you would be correct. They're not. They are including both. For infrastructure, Indiana was 18th in Energy, 29th in Internet access, and 24th in transportation. Pretty middle of the road. Not sure why you mentioned health. The state was ranked 41st overall, which broke down to 33rd in health care access, 35th in health care quality, and 42nd in public health. Did you perhaps mean Economy instead?

Indiana was 41st in health 27th in education in this survey. And yet ranked above avg on the state list. Number one for government. Probably broke the curve with that one Most state surveys rank Indiana in the lower quantiles, especially for health, education, infrastructure, and state government.

"be envious" would be a better fit. sure, we can envy you. and you can envy North Dakota. but all seriousness aside, you could not pay me enough to live in either one of those places. no offense. None taken. I had my fill of urban living and high taxes when I had to spend about twenty years in a suburb of Chicago. (South Barrington) The current piece of property I live on is close to 1000 acres. And I pay less property tax than my 2 1/2 acre lot near Chicago. I have a "to the horizon " mountain view to the north out my living room window. Without one structure to be seen. Each to his own.

"be envious" would be a better fit. I don't know. First link that came up: Best States RankingsWashington - 5 (lowest ranking in any area #25) Arkansas - 48 (highest ranking in any area #29) Why would I EVER envy someone who had to live in Arkansas? Because "Deliverance" was probably filmed here ? "Had to" live in Arkansas doesn't apply for me. Seriously though, being wealthy/retired in a low ranked state has huge advantages. Health, employment, etc. don't mean anything to me as they rank it. IE; I am a member of a private helicopter service that operates 24/7 to take me to the hospital in case of an emergency, from anywhere in a 50 mile radius of my home. The call time to my home is 6 minutes. 4 minute to the hospital after loading. They're good.

And please, You really have the audacity to call anything in Arkansas a mountain? Come on out, we'll show you what a mountain is. And what a mountain view is. Snow-capped glaciers and everything! And I'll even show you those mountains in the same National Park as rain forests, wilderness, and wild ocean coastline. Show me THAT in Arkansas!

congratulations. you actually understood my point. too bad you think you are rebutting it. Heh...............Anytime you say "interesting" you think it is flawed? Should just say so......... no, that is not what "interesting" means for me. when i say "interesting" i am saying "interesting, but not enough for me to look into it". it has nothing to do with the quality of the survey. it has to do with the quality of the subject, which i think is low, at this point in time. edit: so yeah, the survey COULD BE flawed, and it MIGHT NOT BE. i was not arguing either way.

I wonder why they do not list Tesla numbers. Not that it matters too much yet, but as Tesla increases production, their numbers dent other manufacturer numbers There have been several good articles explaining why sales are down, which this article does not mention. Cars are now made to last longer. People are going with six year loans and cannot afford to pay off the note, or add it to the new loan on the 2017 car People are waiting because they anticipate new electronic novelties to be added in the next year or two, specifically self driving features, and automatic breaking, etc. Rental companies are not buying as many models in mass quantities as in previous years Sixteen million plus sales for this year is nothing to complain about. It boggles the mind how people hope Trump fails and brings the country down to prove a point. Keep it up! You will get there!

The economy is great, business is great, people are being hired, builders are going gangbusters around the country building large scale condos, and multistory corporate business complexes. Drive through about any major metropolitan area and tell me things are not progressing very well.
I have been in Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, Indianapolis, and now the DC area, and am amazed at the expansion that is going on this year. Retail is struggling, but blame that on one company who is hiring 50,00 people this year. Corporations that "build things" stationed along the interstates have signs up "now hiring for immediate positions" everywhere.

the dollar is in freefall: fred.stlouisfed.org/series/DTWEXMdropped another 2% in two weeks. we are now less than 1% above major long term support for the dollar dating back to 2015. i asked the question before, but nobody answered, so i will answer it: inflation. inflation is what our problem is likely to be. so, i would keep my eye on those numbers.
