Yesterday I wasted $140 on a hairstyle that wasn't what I wanted... So frustrating.

As far as making for yourself, I gave my sister MY super secret recipe AND supplied her with the ingredients for my niece's birthday party...the resulting pictures were hilarious!!! They are NOT easy to make and very fickle about humidity, how rapidly you combine the ingredients etc. It's a long trial and error to get one that is hard enough to be dropped on concrete by a 5yo AND not break into fifty million pieces, that fizzes long enough to entertain, that bubbles enough to please and makes pretty colors in the tub. Thanks for this- and thanks to the others who posted. I think I noticed bath bombs only within the last year, in the local grocery chain and at Whole Foods- maybe they've been at WF for awhile and I never noticed. my granddaughter gets eczema and her parents are pretty careful about what products they use on her skin. Leave it to Grandma to try something wild and crazy! (I was staying in a hotel while visiting them because they had other family members staying at the house, and as an experiment DGD, who turns 4 on Wednesday, stayed there with me Friday night. She loved it.) I did watch her carefully for signs that her skin was irritated but she was fine. I think I'll hold off trying to make them- I found a ton of recipes in a search but given your caveats, it sounds like making bread dough (but more complicated)- takes some failures till you know by sight and feel when you've got it right.

They've been around for years at Lush and with people like Daisy and Steff and my dad's old neighbor. It's been more recent that they've gone more mainstream. Bath & Body Works carries them now along with Target and Walmart.

I’ve even found them at Dollar Tree, but I didn’t buy because I wasn’t sure about the ingredients.

$100 on another handbag. The Today Show Steals and Deals had my fave one, so I bought another.

I guess I lead a sheltered life.

Last night I went to another Weird Al concert and bought another tour t-shirt. No regrets, just more money than I usually spend on a t-shirt. Until I was about 30, I wouldn't even wear a shirt with more than stripes/plaid. Now, I really don't care and I wear my nerd shirts with pride. I got lots of compliments on the shirt I wore yesterday, at several locations, not just the concert:

DD loves bath bombs, I have to control her. They finally started selling them at
TJ Maxx and we can get them for a reasonable price. Yes, its a waste of money, but its like other fads for her, it will pass so long as I can get them reasonably priced I will let her have them.
And yes some can be irritating.

Or make me buy one. He loves him some Inigo Montoya. I am not even showing him this picture otherwise I'll be hearing that effing You killed my father blah blah blah

More presents for DS‘ upcoming bday. I bought a beeswax candle making kit for his classmate‘s present, argued with myself a while, then went back to buy him one...they were no longer prime shipping so female classmate is now getting the pastel version which still was.
Can I just say how spoiled I am with prime and similar shipping? I placed a different specialty order...for $16 shipping they waited a full week to actually ship the order. Ordered two weeks beforehand and it’s due to get here the day after ds‘ bday.

It does suck when you go outside of Amazon. Some places take forever to ship.
Today's money waste according to my DH was the window AC for our bedroom. I've been waiting a month now for the central air to be replaced. I'm over it. I want to at least sleep.

They do tend to chew up a lot of resources (energy) and they tend to be somewhat loud, so as a permanent fix, they aren't a good choice. But if you've been without cooling for a while, your mood will be greatly improved now. And after the central air is installed you might get some of your cash back on resale. Or you could repackage the window unit and keep it on hand for future needs (family or friends in a similar situation). Comfortable sleep = happy. And every intelligent hubby knows: Happy wife equals ...

I bought tickets to go see Everclear (which reminds me of the time Spydah and I got kicked out of the earthmuffin coffee shop because the mods thought we were talking about alcohol...) They were reasonably priced, and close enough to home that I'll just drive there and back, not stay overnight.
Of course, while looking at those tickets, I realized I just missed The Offspring in Portland. So now I'm going to go take a road trip, to Utah, and add two states to my "been there" list (Utah and Wyoming). Add at least two nights in a hotel (I'm seriously considering sleeping at rest stops/truck stops in my car on the drive down, and maybe up if I get tired on the way home.) All for a $30 lawn admission! It will be my first big road trip by myself, but I'm getting a lot of ideas of places to visit on the way from a coworker.

Plants for my garden. $144, which is a lot as I'm saving up to road trip to Alaska. But the garden needs then to keep the other plants doors shaded

Two pairs of jeans at Walmart. I went in for some flashdrives and trash vags and saw some jeans in the really dark wash I prefer in my size so I grabbed them. I have a hard time finding my size in a style that fits, so I buy them when I find them.

That is quite the typo I‘m hemorrhaging money lately and hard pressed to feel more than vaguely guilty about it. I knew better than to go to ikea today...that place is worse than costco. Good news, I kept it to $60. Bad news, I couldn’t begin to tell you how it added up that high. Oh well, DS had a fabulous time playing with everything in the store.

I haven't exactly SPENT the money yet but I'm about to set the wheels in motion for a very expensive vacation in November, 2019.
My professional society is meeting in Honolulu. Never been to Hawaii and I'd thought of heading to Australia from there but Business Class airfare is pure extortion. Soooo... I found out that UnCruise has a 7-day trip between Honolulu and Molokai. I love that line- small ships, nature-focused, lots of outdoor activities. I'm taking a Mexico cruise with them in March and they always offer you a $700 discount at the end of the trip if you put up a $500 deposit towards a trip within 2 years. You don't have to decide then and it's refundable if not used. I contacted them and said I needed a specific departure date AND a Single cabin and would they likely still be available if I booked in March? They offered to hold a room for me, which I could then confirm in March. I get another $700 discount because it will be my 5th cruise with them. Cruise plus Business Class airfare to HNL will run about $8,500 after the two discounts and then I need to add the registration fee for the meeting (half price since I'm a retiree) plus a week in Honolulu, although the Society always gets decent hotel rates. This will be at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Time to start saving my money! I can be pretty motivated when there's a trip like this at the end of it.
Also- on the subject of Bath Bombs- I was visiting the granddaughters again last weekend and bought another one. DIL says that the older granddaughter talked for days about the last one. It was a big hit with her baby sister, too. It is good to be Grandma.

I spent $1.75 today. We had a renter give notice, I know he loved where he lived, a few minutes from work. The house is small and his wife or girl friend didn't want it from day 1 so I guess she finally nagged him into it. The rent was only $500 a month and he had to pay $250 at a time. Nothing as nice for the price, wonder how they will do it? Hope the house doesn't need a lot and we can advertise it again soon. Have to call and see when, I'm guessing the 1st will be move date.
Another is sick and we dropped hers half for 2 months, lets see if she can pay or we have to have her move. Always happens when you think its all going along well.

Hopefully not a waste, but bought a car for DS today. $500 and 200 bales of hay.

This week I did spend $219 for a new steam generator iron. And I went to Steinmart, they had a 12 hour sale. Got a pair of white jeans with embroidered flowers down each leg for $14 didn't know they were reduced, they were a ton, a sheer top in yellow for $11 and a pair of floral shorts very subdued for $29.95, actually good buys and pretty clothes. What happened to sewing again?
