I really don't blame people. I post several things a day I think people should be reading. Who needs that much telling what to do . But it keeps sane right now.

DH's great aunt hasn't even gotten that far... her timeline looks like this: Hey Vicky how are you doing today? Johnny tell your mom I have some corn for her succotash recipe I can't, Junior will be here at 3 where is Mount Vernon church It's basically split between random pieces of conversation with people she doesn't tag and attempts to Google. At least on the Google questions someone will usually respond and tell her what she needs to know. My aunts do that. Post on each other's walls or post as their status, but never actually reply to the message. Just write a new post. From the other day: Aunt 1 status: K**** are you on facebook? Aunt 2 status: Yes but I'm getting off now. Imagine my face when I go on facebook anf I see my aunt's status says she's getting off. Eep!

There are a lot of stupid people everywhere, especially Facebook, and I would love to tell everyone how lame and dumb they are, but instead I post silly things and pictures of my cats.

I have two friends on the opposite side of the political spectrum. Most stopped after the election thankfully but these two won't. I don't worship trump and I don't want to bash him on FB either. Please stop posting about trump one way or the other. I want to see your pets and your family. I don't give a shit about your politics

My FB contacts include people all over the spectrum- relatives, former classmates, a few clergy, gays and lesbians, Trump lovers, Trump haters. I rarely post anything political myself but do reply occasionally when their "facts" are just plain wrong or I want to know their thoughts about some aspect they haven't considered. After Trump's election, for example, you woulda thought from the FB posts that your Obamacare policy was going to be cancelled immediately. No, this was January and most of us had policies that started 1/1 and were good for the full year.
I've unfriended one person- an extreme conservative- because no matter what I posted all she would do was bleat back her original contention. I stopped following an extreme liberal (with whom I agree on many things) for pretty much the same reason. That, and the fact that she can't post about Trump without using profanities, which add nothing to the discussion.

Oped, if you were my FB friend, I wouldn't have you on ignore. Wait, you're not an anti-vacxer are you? Then I might. I have one cousin who's almost there. 😡. But seriously, I just hide their most annoying posts, and it makes FB show me less from them in the future. Or at least I hope it does.

I honestly don't know how I'm fb friends with some on here and not others? If anyone wants to share just pm me. But I warn you. I'm in a pretty political place right now. I don't do many memes. I am neither a Fox/breibert nor an MSN/occupy democrats type. But if Trump sold 12 billion in weapons to Quatar after calling them out for supporting terrorism... and I think there is s good chance people aren't paying attention, I will post a link from a journalistic source.

I honestly don't know how I'm fb friends with some on here and not others? I've found myself friends with a few people on here because if a post is liked by five members of YMAM plus one other person a few different times then I've guessed they are also from this board! I've found myself sending friend requests with a message "Hi, I'm gs11rmb ... what's your YMAM name"? It's my grown-up version of making new friends on the playground.

Doesn't bother me oped I enjoy reading all the stuff posted to my timeline. I see some crazy stuff posted sometimes and wonder what possessed them to put all their dirty laundry our there for all to see. There was one girl a few years back who was friends with our old neighbor and I had to unfriend her because she was all kinds of crazy and I couldn't take it anymore. Think dressing up her tiny dog in all these ridiculous costumes and pretending it was nurse or some shit in real life, a real weirdo. Hey I don't care if you dress up your animal but don't act like a crazy fool about it and post a hundred photos of it And the drama in her life, WHOA!!!

I feel like I'm the most boring person person on FB with the most boring life, so I don't go out requesting friends on there, just to ultimately bore them and have them complain about me. The only person from here I'm friends with on FB is the person who got me into the group. Seriously, I don't go anywhere or do anything terribly interesting. Pic's of my kids doing mundane stuff are posted for far-flung family. This post I came across just now doesn't mention anything about political stuff on FB, but I thought it was kinda funny: waitbutwhy.com/2013/07/7-ways-to-be-insufferable-on-facebook.html

I "like" stuff and I will comment sometimes.
I think the people I am on with would have heart attacks "the big one" if I actually posted something. I did once and someone replied "OMG NNP actually posted. I will probably post the same thing around August 3

I like when people post political stuff, even if I don't agree with it, on Facebook, as long as it's factual and not just inflammatory. Sometimes it looks interesting and I check it out, otherwise it's easy enough to ignore. Sometimes my opinions were changed, sometimes not. It never hurts to have more information.

The funniest things I've seen on FB are the generational issues where Grandma doesn't realize that her messages aren't private and are printed right on someone's wall for the whole world to see... It's not just the older generation. One friend who's my age (65 or so) and has apparently done well as a Ph.D. scientist, got a post from a niece on his wall (she addressed him as Uncle Scott) going over the sad economic circumstances she and her mother were in, asking him for help. His response was to point out that her posts could be seen by all of his friends on FB. I'm a grandma and I never write on anyone's wall.

Apparently, I have a horrible on-line voice as I've gotten into some doozies - especially on FB. To me - unless you comment something to the effect of "I don't believe this/hold this opinion, but I think it's funny/relevant/thought-provoking/etc anyway" - you're posting an extension on your opinion and by posting it on FB, a public forum (same as here), you're opening yourself up to response. Some of those responses might not be what you want to hear. I've had numerous family members from my husband's side of the family cuss me out and block me for pointing out a difference of opinion on what they've posted. Apparently, I'm not supposed to point out that posting about getting a new tattoo and new puppy shows a lack of concern for getting custody of their child back, especially since they're also posting that friends/family members are "selfish" for not helping to drive said person to the child welfare checks that are required to get custody back. Pointing out that saving the money from said tattoos/puppy will allow the freedom of using Uber and/or saving up to get driving lessons so they're not dependent on others is also taboo - BECAUSE IT'S NOT ABOUT MONEY!!! They didn't loose custody because of MONEY! Apparently, I was only supposed to say "that's an AWESOME tattoo!!" and "AWWWW!!! The puppy is soooo cuuutteeee!!!" I guess commenting with the question "When your child is old enough - do you want them to wonder why a tattoo/puppy was more important than getting custody of them back?" deserves to be blocked. Who knew? While I agree with you in theory, I would never post something so bitchy to someone on FB. Unless it was a public post that I was commenting on (rarely do that because people be crazy and I don't want the crazies knowing my name!lol) I don't have access to the posts anymore (I don't think....haven't bothered looking as it was over a year ago) - but I'm 98% sure the last comment was said privately during the course of a longer private discussion. It is/was bitchy - I don't deny that. She was giving me every excuse in the world why losing custody of her child wasn't her fault and I lost patience with her. The public posts were more along the lines of her saying "OMG - ex-MIL (who apparently has custody of said child) is such a bitch that she won't help me with a ride and won't let me see my own child because I don't have a ride - who can help me in 2 hours so I can be there for the social services meeting? I'll give you gas money next week." (she's 4 states away from me). With a response by me of something to the effect of "saving the money from getting a new tattoo 2 weeks ago and that new puppy this week might have helped with an Uber to get to the appointment." So...yeah...I was a bitch. I have no patience for someone who doesn't put their child first. Complain about it in public in any way, and I know you, I'll call you out.

One of my favorite internet memes: "Life is short, so tell someone you love them. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing."
It is my observation that many people (many, many people) find life so terrifying and confusing that any idea or opinion that is different from the way they view the world is experienced as a threat to their existence and must be exterminated, so they respond with varying degrees of contempt, anger, and/or verbal violence (sometimes actual violence).
You can't do anything with someone who will not engage the intellectual resources necessary to entertain the concept that the existence of something other than what they have experienced or thought or understood is not a threat. You cannot exchange ideas or even have much of a conversation with someone who views as an enemy anyone who thinks differently or whose experience has led to a different conclusion.
I don't think they are inviting comment or an exchange of ideas that stray from their interpretation of whatever they have posted. They are looking for validation because anything else would be terrifying and might as well have been posted in German (or Finnish or some language they don't understand).
Also, people are stupid. Crap. You've met my SIL on FB, haven't you?

I dont post anything political on FB. I unfollow those who do. Some really ramped up shoving Hillary down our throats so the day before the election, anyone who posted, i told them exactly what i thought. After the election some wouldn't shut up so i unfriended them.

My sister wanted me to update her Bingo Blitz Credits on the weekend, so she sent me her Password and Email for Facebook, but it was the wrong email. I did not know that she wanted me to do this in the first place and I seen this morning another friend done that for her.
Now what she didn't pay any attention to was I posted an update on Facebook saying I would not be on Facebook cause I was updating the drivers on my computer.
So yeah family that wants you to do things for them, but give you the wrong info and don't really tell you that half of their Facebook Friends are also doing what she asked me to do.
Talk about a bloody convoluted mess, shit!

oh I'm not looking for advice. just wondering how the rest of you read that exchange. and I do not have you on ignore Take this with a grain of salt, because I don't have the BookFace...but pretty much anytime someone says "isn't this hilarious?"...they are not inviting discussion as to whether something is hilarious. It's kind of like saying "doesn't this shirt look great on me?". They are asking for people to agree with them.
Also, anyone who actually has to say "isn't this hilarious"...probably didn't post something hilarious. Hilarious things don't need the person presenting it to tell people it's hilarious.

I unfollow the annoying. The two worst. Constant complaining about the snow and cold. Doh. A cute little jacket and yoga pants are for summer. GrDIL whining and -itching. She has 2 kids and is depressed because life is not all gum drops and sugar plum fairies.

I have an aquaintance who is a FB whore. She's constantly posting pictures of her kids, her meals, her dog, her everything. I've stopped liking her constant posts and she actually texted me to ask if I saw them. Ugh. I don't want to hurt her feelings but posting her wedding pictures when she doesn't even remotely look that way anymore seems pathetic.
