I didn't know my cell phone was running out. H. found a really good deal on a trac phone. I got a good deal on the talk, text and data. My remaining minutes transferred over. He was originally getting it for himself. He'll let me try mine out a few days before getting himself one! My big gift is a grand daughter graduating from college in engineering! The family gathering to watch the big day. Priceless. Oh and student loans. DS will have a big surprise for her and it's not a car. Edit: DS will have to find out how much the education bill is. When this started he said he'd pay it for her when she finished. Things do change.

My children are cats. They bought me 3 rose trees/bushes.
Congrats to your granddaughter!

Ugh. This is my least favorite holiday. My mother always cried and told us we were ungrateful brats. Or at least that's what I remember. I must need therapy to get over this.

My birthday usually falls on or near Mother's Day so mom and I always did something together (with our SO/spouses when we had them) with or without the other sibs - depending on their behavior that year. She would make me keep it a secret if without. We would go shopping, or to somewhere out of the ordinary for dinner or brunch in another city or at the beach. We always bought a gift, cards, she'd get flowers too, and we always picked up the tab. Now that I think about it I never got my birthday celebrated alone very often. My step brother was a May baby too so our parties were thrown together, then there's MD, and my childhood bestie is a May baby... We now just do something with DH's mom and family. There is a party Sunday at my SILs house this year. My furbabies think every day is for them so we don't celebrate me much unless you count me taking more smoochies and hugs than usual. Happy Mother's Day!

DH seldom gives me anything for MD, but this year he surprised me with flowers and chocolates from a local chocolatier. They were just delivered. The delivery person said my reaction was the best she's had all day and that I made her day.
Sometimes I get c card or something from the grandkids, but most times not. I see them all the time and the random cards and gifts are better than any holiday card or gift.

DD made a few things in class and daycare. I love them! 😍
DH is at his parents place but also helping his brother, who just bought some land to eventually build a house on. DH will be back late Sunday morning to take DD shopping for my MD present. I already know what she wants to get and let DH know. Whether she changes her mind before then is another story.
For dinner, I'll get something for DH to grill and probably do the rest of dinner prep too. My mom and I will enjoy the fruits of his labor!

Graduation was wonderful and exciting. Her fiance and his parents were there along with her parents and my H. and me. I dropped off the Mother's Day cards and birthday gifts for 2 great grands at my DD. We made the round trip in the same day -- about 700 miles driving.
A dear friend passed away early Sat. morning. Sad there and my GrDIL"s first Mother's Day after her baby passed. She saw a license plate that had his name on it at the gas station. She felt his thinking of her. Tough Day.
I was hit with insomnia so today has been spot naps trying to get normal. H. is also very tired.
I feel for those who had less than wonderful memories of Mother's Day. Good thoughts out to you.

DD got me a cat food dish on legs and DS got me a catnip plant. Seems it must have been the cat's birthday not Mother's Day!!!

DS1 made me salad for dinner.
DS2 gave me fifty cents and a home made card.
DS3 gave me a home made card that said "Happy Valentine's day".

Ugh. This is my least favorite holiday. My mother always cried and told us we were ungrateful brats. Or at least that's what I remember. I must need therapy to get over this. The one day a year we reserve to remind mothers how terrible their families really are. But I agree, this is always the hardest of the Hallmark Holidays.

I gave my mom a bromeliad, since she's bedridden and otherwise has to depend on us to take pictures of her flowers for her.
She gave me $40, which I promptly spent today on a nail stamping plate and some stamping polish.
My son gave me a card and an ice cream cake.

My son gave me a card and an ice cream cake. Sorry for my confusion... You gave your mom a plant because she's bedridden and has to depend on you to take pictures of her flowers for her? I'm so confused! Didn't you still have to take the pictures? I'd never heard of a bromeliad before. It looks like a cool plant! I'm sure she loved it.

Well, yes, we still take pics of her flowers. But this way, she gets to have one inside to enjoy. One of her care workers gave her a calla lily for her birthday (which is May 11), so she has that one, too.
Sorry for not explaining things better.

Sorry for not explaining things better. Oh! You mean you take pictures of flowers that are outside, so she can see them. Correct? I thought you were taking pictures of flowers she had received. I guess because I got flowers on Mother's day and posted a picture of them on Facebook. It never occurred to me that you meant the flowers in her garden or something. Sorry. That was really thoughtful of you!

Both my DDs had birthdays last weekend. I didn't get a card, or to sleep in, or literally anything.

Five and two. So really it's my husband that's missed the ball here. Yes, he did, poopy head. What was the expectation? We cannot be disappointed if there isn't an expectation. I try to fill my areas of lack for myself. I will play Knights in White Satin if someone hasn't said I love you enough! I don't look back on my childhood with Mom. I look at the wonderful mother's my DD and DIL are as well as my granddaughters. I told DD don't make the same mistakes I made. They go shopping together, lunches, special days with each one of the children. Wonderful family gatherings. A couple of them are golf fanatics. My DS said he picked up a lot from my good examples. My H. says I'm a successful parent because the kids are alive.
