LOL, retirees and leakage, I thought you were referencing urinary leakage....... When I was still working, we had many people borrow from the 401-k's. Some should never do it. Others, had spouses who also worked, had pensions, or 401-k's that were much more funded than there's. I imagine some of these people had other 401-k's from other employers that were never touched. I am sure this article does not include spousal IRA's that never get touched, thus affecting their eventual payout very little

As long as they are allowed, then it will continue. I've known many people who took out 401(k) loans.
