My husband was a house painter for his entire career. He always recommended you call the best local paint store (not the big box stores) in your area and ask for their 3 best painters. Good luck.

We just signed a contact to get the interior of our house painted. All 2800 sq ft, ceilings and baseboards and trim (it has been 20+ years since anything has been painted) is going to run about $11,000, all inclusive.
This company came very highly recommended and when I mentioned the company at the paint stores, both stores are VERY impressed with their work.
TD balked at the cost but went online and that seemed to be a little high, but not excessively so, considering what we were getting done.

Local painter is $8000 for interior repaint plus $5000 for powerwash and restain decks. Interior repaint includes base and crown moldings; exterior includes front and rear decks plus pergola. Guy is awesome good and totally trustworthy so we literally give him the house keys and garage door remote. Not too many folks I can just walk away from the house and say "make it happen!" so it's worth the price

For all the folks quoting prices...are the painters buying the paint, or are you?
I'm also thinking I should become a painter, I've painted multiple interiors and sounds like I could make a small fortune. Need to show this to my mother as well, she paints the interiors of all the houses my dad buys, she should be charging him.

For my DH, he quoted his labor plus materials, which he estimated. When the job was finished, he billed the customer his costs for the paint. A good quality paint is $50+ a gallon now. He'd leave them the partial gallon and mark the lid with the recipe for the color if it was a mix, the date, and what room was used for. He's so meticulous he would vacuum after sanding. He didn't get rich doing it, but it was a good job. In his 35+ year career he never advertised, it was all referrals and repeat customers.

They are buying everything.
The painter has a team of 3 painters that come in, move furniture, prep and paint. This house (4 BR, 2.5 BA, family room, living room, dining room, utility room, den, halls and entry....some with very high ceilings) is going to take him 2 weeks and he said at the end of the day, the room is done and put back into shape. They are also repairing the drywall in the bathroom where the tree fell on the roof, and taking some very well attached wall paper off of 2 walls. There will likely be wall damage that needs to be repaired for this. Everything is getting 2 coats.
The paint is going to cost about $1500 (for just the walls). We are using Benjamin Moore paint. Minus the paint....say about $2500 when you include ceilings and woodwork, that is 3 people splitting $8500 for 2 weeks work.
