Is it time to go back to the "old" ways?

With all this CIA snooping stuff, hackers with bad intents, etc. should we take a technology leap "backwards" to re-gain more privacy

Maybe go back to keeping hard copies of photos and sharing them only with your real friends during visits.......go back to in-smart TVs, etc. etc.

(I still don't understand how they can listen through a smart TV.....mine doesn't take voice commands or anything)

Or is it simply unavoidable and have we lost our privacy forever?

As for Tv heck it's as much a computer as a TV. Now if they can hear me that could be some interesting conversations. Have at it is all I can say.

I live my life in such a way that it doesn't bother me. I'm pretty much an open book any way but like other's have said - Take away my internets and online shopping and I will cut you!


ETA:  I do still pay my bills with checks.  Don't judge me but my money is important to me and I don't want some hacker taking it!   Plus I'm old now so it's ok and is to be expected.

Of course.  I used to be in banking for about 9 years back in the old days.      But that info. would have to be hacked from the bank as I don't have it on my computer in any way.  Not much crime with checks these days compared to hacking and I take it to the post office when mailing the bills.   So far so good!

I've said it before. Drive nothing newer that a 1955 Chevy. the cell phone and find an old rotary. Quit the Email thing and go back to stamps, letters an snail mail (soon none of them will be able to read cursive anymore.) And, resurrect an old analog tube style TV. Nobody, I mean nobody will be able to monitor you (much less even find you) On The Other Hand.....Color me out if you are thinking about bringing back the OUTHOUSE......I will not take part in those middle of the night, 300 -400 steps out into the raging blizzard and subzero temperatures of a Wyoming winter, in order to rest my posterior on a -40 below frozen wooden seat.  NOoooo......there needs to be a line drawn right there.....

I covered my forward facing camera lens, on my tablet, with a small piece of masking tape, just in case. (I folded one end under for easy removal, should I need it.)

I don't want ANYONE sneaking peeks of me, while I'm lounging etc. I don't care if I'm dressed or not. NO PEAKING!

You might want to change that to an old-ish touch tone phone. A rotary phone is next to useless if you need to use it to call someone NOT on a land line like you.  You can't navigate a "user interface" when you call a service or a business (or the Drs office or the place to get parts for your '55 Chevy...)

They do still make basic touch tone phones - I have one. It's my "hurricane phone" for when the power is out and my cordless phone  doesn't work. Yes, I still have a landline.

My house is in a 4 block cell phone "dead zone" for all the local carriers... so if I need to use my smart phone at home I need to walk a few blocks in any direction to get a good signal.  Actually, if it's really cloudy and overcast I get better reception....  but bright sunny day?  no bars.

I don't mind the invasion of privacy - it's all about talking in "code" - which means we get to be like tweens again - coming up with slang and euphamisms and what not that only our friends/family understand.

 Pidgeons. We need to go back to using carrier pidgeons, but we need to teach to pidgeons morse code so they can deliver their messages that way. JUST IN CASE someone remembers how to read cursive and shoots the pidgeon down for supper

I think there's value in paying bills by check.  It keeps you constantly aware of where your money is going every month if you have to sit down and write a check for it.  With all this auto pay, it's easy to start hemorrhaging money and forget where it's going.
