We're moving back into our house next week (had tenants and lease just came up)
We need new appliances and a TV. We can get by with old stuff for a while but plan to replace all within 90 days.
With no rush other than that, is there a good sale time coming up to buy ? (I know we just missed POTUS Day sales). Also recommended stores?
Just looking for decent mid level appliances and 60 inch TV. Nothing fancy.
Ideas/ suggestions?

I have no idea, but I'm starting to think about this (it could be years...my thought process is slow. ) My over the stove microwave has been dead for a few years, the dishwasher is pissing me off about every other day and while the stove and fridge are fine, they are 17 years old, so probably not a lot of years left. What I'm wondering is if those packages where you get the whole kitchen at once and get a "discount" are really a better deal than shopping individual pieces? I'm tempted to go the all-in-one route because I hate shopping and will just want it over with ASAP.

They are always on sale somewhere. It's hard to compare from one store to another because the appliance manufacturers use confusion model numbers to prevent comparison shopping. They will make the same model for Home Depot and Lowe's and give them different model numbers, a lot of times if the first digits of the model number are the same, then they are the same model.
If you are buying multiple items together, you may want to go somewhere that negotiates.
Lowes gives you deals if you use their credit card, which a good YMer would immediately pay off before interest charges.

It's been awhile, but about a dozen years ago when we bought our house, we needed a washer, dryer and refrigerator. I went to Home Depot and the salesman tried to upsell me a washer with a stainless steel drum, because we have well water in an area with a lot of iron in the water. Then he proceeded to tack on the charges for the cord/delivery/installation/etc. So, I went to the local mom and pops appliance store and was very pleased with the all inclusive price and the no BS salesman.

I think the new models come out in late summer/early fall. So close outs go on sale around Labor day? I was told that the best pricing on appliances is Sept/Oct/Nov b/c people start their kitchen remodels in fall wanting them done by Thanksgiving day, but I don't know if they really have better prices and how much better they are than the "normal" price.

"September, October, and January when manufacturers roll out new home appliance models, and retailers are eager to move last year's inventory. (Refrigerators are the exception. New models come out in the spring.) Last days of the month when stores are desperate to meet quotas and are more likely to dicker over prices."

Appliances and TVs are always on sale in my neck of the woods. I'd put together a list for each appliance you want - size (the measurements your house needs), what features you want. Then I'd do a lot of "internet window shopping" to see what's available that meets your criteria. I'd then start watching prices and deals - so when you are ready to buy you'll know if the current 'deals' are top dollar or some variation of a sale...
Decide if you absolutely need to get the lowest price... or if you can be happy with a "middle of the road" sale - this will determine how much time/energy/heartache you will put into the shopping part of this project.
My 19 year old fridge up and died on January 2nd. I was overwhelmed by the dozens of fridge choices available... but once I measured the space for the fridge - turns out I had 3 choices available from 2 stores. The space available ruled out French Door and bottom freezer models. So, fridge shopping was a lot easier - and thankfully one of the models that fit was at a 'mid range' sale... I saw dropped to a lower sale price a month after I purchased... I was tempted to see if I could get a "refund" or something $200 is $200 but I never pursued it. I was fridge less for less than a week.

We went to a mom and pop store to get our whole kitchen done ....... Very pleased with the results and service. Looked at the same products at Best Buy, and the other store was our choice.
Also check out what Costco has

For some reason the term "up and died" always makes me laugh.

I got my kitchen set right before Thanksgiving at hhgregg. Hasn't been as good of a deal since and I got it in 2015
They do negotiate, but more when you buy their warranty.
I got all four kitchen pieces, stainless steel, French door with water dispenser, stainless steel inside dishwasher, and a convection fan oven flat top stove. All but the microwave have a 5 year warranty. Two year zero interest and it was a bit under $3k.

My dad got a new stove, fridge, and microwave early last November as an early black Friday deal at Home Depot. I don't know if you can wait that long to get them but he got a very, very good deal on them plus 0% financing and additional cash back for buying all three at once. After seeing that deal, I think I'd always wait until that time of year to buy them if I could.

Just saw where hhgregg is closing a bunch of their stores, including all the VA ones. I always liked them, and most of the time their prices were lower than other stores. Since I need a new cooktop and wall oven, I think I'll go see if they're having any good deals.

One thing I would do is ask about scratch and dent appliances. When we got our fridge, a small dent on the side that would be against the wall reduced the price by $1K.

Any opinions on black stainless? I kind of like it, but I don't want to get the next trendy color and be in the same situation that I am now. I bought all bisque colored stuff in 2000 and now you don't see it anywhere. That's part of the reason I'm planning to replace everything at once...so it matches.

Unless they've changed it from when I was looking, the problem is it's basically paint on stainless. So any scratches show the silver color not the black. And it scratches pretty easily. The floor models all had scratches you could see. Stainless scratches too, but it's ask the same color hard to tell.

My brother put it in his new kitchen. It looks very sharp.
I am toying with this: www.homedepot.com/p/Whirlpool-36-in-W-25-cu-ft-French-Door-Refrigerator-in-Black-Ice-WRX735SDBE/207164979
I have black now, and I hate my side by side refrigerator. I want the French door. My appliances are 12 years old in July, so coming to the end of their useful life in the next few years. If I keep delaying the decision for 3 years, my Home Equity Loan will be paid off, and I will have more room in the budget. DH talked about new countertops too...it does make sense to do it all at once.

I wish we could have found this color last year when we remodeled our kitchen. So I settled on stainless.
The bisque (bone, off-white) doesn't show fingerprints and the SS does ...... so does the black
I chose a side by side fridge. Had a bottom freezer many years ago and would always lose things in the bottom. A side by side I can see what I have quickly.

I have a olive colored fridge that is older than I am. It came with the house when we bought it last July. My Dh is dying to replace it with a French door type fridge he saw at Lowes, but I told him he has to wait.

The best time to buy new appliances is when the old ones break beyond repair. That's when I do it.

Y'all make me laugh! Being in France I have a "French door" fridge and I'm dying for a side by side! The grass is always greener, right?! And I agree with GEL ... I only replace my appliances when they die. Appliances today don't last nearly as long, IME. That's also why I always go with white. It's easier and cheaper to replace each appliance when it dies without having to worry about different brands' colors "matching" each other. WholeLottaNothin if it's the color that bothers you (which I understand!) maybe it be worth painting it? This said, if it's really over 30 years old (not sure how old you are) it probably eats a lot of electricity. We have NEVER had an appliance last long enough to wonder whether to replace it just for the hell of it.

Even if it's running ok, it would be on my short list as it's probably a huge electric hog.

I was wondering about that. My friend just replaced her dishwasher and clothes dryer with top-of-the-line Mieles (at about $1200 per machine). Personally I would NEVER pay that much for an appliance. But, she claims she is now saving 120e per month on their electricity bills. Frankly I have trouble believing that, because she tends to exaggerate. Could that really be true? Both appliances were 24 years old. None of our appliances have ever lasted that long ... except our (Miele) oven, bought on supersale over 20 years ago. In fact, rob base, why do you want to replace them all at once? Is there something wrong with them?

IDK, maybe it is, though our electric bill for the whole house is around $65 a month.

It's probably not worth it then, IMO. Especially if you want to make other changes in the kitchen too.

We have NEVER had an appliance last long enough to wonder whether to replace it just for the hell of it. The appliances I have are the only ones I ever bought new (and I'm 48). The first house I bought had appliances in it and I sold with the same ones. But, 17 years is pushing it. One and a half of the four are dead already and I plan to move the fridge to the garage for a party fridge after getting a new one. So really it's just the stove that would be getting the boot pre-death...and I really want a smooth top. I am so over drip pans. My "planning" to get new appliances is a 1-2 year savings project though.

I got a $2500 fridge for $800.

DH found the best deal for our LG french door fridge at an online store. I have to also state that we were quite limited in width we could fit into the space, so we had the privilege of paying extra anyway. We just paid less extra by purchasing online. What we wanted was about $2500 at Lowe's and Home Depot and we spent about $1700 for it. The old fridge works fine, but it's a side by side and I hate the small freezer space. It works FABULOUSLY as a beer fridge in our shed. I prefer white appliances and can't wait until the stove and dishwasher die. The previous owners put in all black appliances. I can wipe the stove down 50 times a day and it still shows every little spec of dust.
