I order fairly often from Amazon because I hate shopping.
I order printer ink every few months. I was planning to order printer ink this weekend, so it was in my basket. Today I got a notification that the ink is now only available to Amazon Prime customers, I can click here to sign up for Amazon Prime.
I don't want to sign up for Amazon Prime. I can wait 2 or 3 or 4 days or even a week to get whatever I order. If I'm in that much of a rush for something, I'll go to the store.
To me Amazon Prime meant you get quicker delivery, but not that certain items are only reserved for Amazon Prime customers.
Is this new?

Other than prime pantry, I'm not aware of any items only available to prime members. Sometimes they have sale prices for members only but you can still buy the item at a higher price.

I encountered that in November when I went to order something. Not a prime member you can't order it.

I've been a prime member for a whole three ish months now. I'm still trying to figure the whole thing out. We have enjoyed having the tv access stuff. Prime pantry drives me nuts as to what counts and what doesn't.

Yes but it's more expensive, and it's not shipped by Amazon so it takes longer. I ordered from them once and it took a month!

I've seen that sporadically for the last year. From my understanding, they offer it this way when their supply of the product isn't "unlimited".

I'm not spending money on Prime Rukh.
I contacted Amazon ... it's because the ink is on sale. The sale ends on 24 Jan, at which point it will no longer only be available to Prime members. I'll wait till 24 Jan. (It's much cheaper to pay 3 euros more for the ink than to join Prime.)

So today the ink is still the same discounted price, and no longer reserved for Prime customers. I ordered it. ETA: That's a 4-month supply of ink (b+w and color) for 75% of the cost of Prime.
