yay! Hayneedle return is complete, the funds were returned to my Paypal account this afternoon. one more item checked off the list, woot! Were you unhappy with the merchandise? DH just ordered chair covers for the patio furniture. I was. it was essentially unfinished, came with screws that weren't painted or sealed (and will rust quickly) and was a lot narrower than you'd expect something called a "Big Daddy" chair to be. I know I should have double checked the dimensions, but the materials of construction were the sticking point. this was the first negative purchase experience I'd had with them. I'll buy from them again.

Thanks. DH like the reviews on the patio covers better than another online store that is popular for their prices but the covers were very thin.

Now they're forecasting rain for the entire weekend. If the forecast doesn't change by bedtime tomorrow night, we'll postpone our garage sale. I'm not getting any telephone calls from any of the contractors I've tried to contact. I hate wasting time.

I'm not getting any telephone calls from any of the contractors I've tried to contact. I hate wasting time. We have the contractor availability shortage here also. They'll call back, but they either don't have time for months or they price gouge. ☹️ I hope your garage sale happens!

I was busy Yesterday, but it sure doesn't seem like I accomplished much. I did wrap another 30 gift, so that's on pace. I do have a bit of a shortage going, so I have a new shopping list going for that. Here's to a productive day!

So the AC is broke in my house. I had all these plans of getting things done but the heat and my asthma weren't playing nice. I left for DH's house. Since I was making the trip I loaded up the car with winter stuff. My room is looking a little better.
My plan is to move out of my current house in September. I just haven't been home long enough since the wedding to contemplate moving.
I also took the stack of bridal magazines that are going to a friend. Hopefully tonight I'll have some time to work on organizing things there. We have house guests labor day weekend.

I finally completed a task that's been staring me in the face for months - I washed the four living room windows. Astounding how much brighter it is now. Why didn't I just do that before now?

Hi Kids! I found a contractor, and he's actually coming out today to look at the project I'd like to get done. No garage sale this weekend, as it looks like rain today, & it's supposed to be pouring on us tomorrow. It looks like September, weather permitting...

Gifts are wrapped and all over my dining/entry area. Tomorrow, I need to print the category signs. Sunday, I'll set up the tables and layout the gifts. Monday morning is the district welcome back breakfast.
Saturday, I need to finish setting up my classroom. I don't feel like I'm quite where I should be to start the year.

Tonight I sewed up another 16 burp rags for charity and I am getting started on cutting the next batch of fabric. It's one of the on-going projects that I want to wrap up before October. I called the volunteer coordinator 3x and haven't heard back about how many more they'll need. I did set aside a dozen or so for a friend of mine having a baby + a friend of mine who wanted some even though she doesn't have kids!
I'm close to purchasing a bunch of moving boxes because I'm realizing I have no patience to drive around picking up free boxes off Craigslist. I'd much rather just get them shipped to me and begin packing. I've not even found a new place to buy but I want to simplify and pack up or donate at least 50% of my belongings.
I need to get to the post office tomorrow to send off a couple of boxes and letters... lots to work on tonight!

This weekend - well since I worked most of today - I should say tonight and tomorrow....I hope to get into my walk in closet and get rid of a lot of stuff so it can actually be a walk in closet. Right now I stand at the door and lean across boxes to reach the clothes rack. I can't even get one foot in the closet. A lot of it is stuff I have been saving to list on eBay and have now decided that will never happen so I want to get rid of it.

Today I actually cleaned out the attack kitchen cabinet. I don't know if you have one, but we do. (actually did) The one with the paper plates, cookbooks, candle holders, cup cozzis... It's now not on attack anymore. It took me a while, I hesitated on a few things, but, in the end, when in doubt, throw it out (or donate). Some items were a battle with DH, who refuses to get rid of items. Tomorrow I have a list. Some deep cleaning, some cooking for the week... (Cloe, I like your lists) I was reading all of your posts, REALLY nice job everyone. Striving to keep up with all of you.

Well, the contractor & I ended up talking about several different projects, & now I'm just waiting for an email of his estimate. This morning DH & I did a bit of work on the basement (the rain kept us indoors), & we managed to find several items to throw out. The more, the merrier!

Back from a quick beach vacation that was just beautiful, weather-wise.
Dreading the thought of going back to work. Laundry almost finished, need a grocery run today.
Contemplating how to sell some of DS stuff (bike, drum set, lacrosse equipment). I don't like Craigslist and am not on FB.

Hello First of all, congratulations to Grandma Sharon on your grandchild (and to your DD and DSIL too!) I'm very glad the baby waited till after the eclipse, and that everyone is well! We just got back from a few days at the beach with the baby (and his parents) and DD and DS3. We had a lot of fun. DS1/DDIL/DGS went elsewhere for a couple of days. They come back Tues, and go back home on Fri. I've unpacked the food/household goods and my suitcase, and am on my second load of laundry. This time we rented through AirBnB so we did not have to bring our own sheets and towels ... I think we're done with the French VRBO site now because having sheets and towels provided makes a huge difference to how much we have to take, and how much laundry we have to do when we get home. Some news: - The final resin estimate came in at 17K. With 13K for the excavation/drain/gutters that's 30K. 31K total with Camera Guy's bill. Ouch. - The insurance company responded to DH's letter: they are reconsidering our claim!!! They asked us to send Camera Guy's report and the repair estimates. It would be amazing if they even paid for half! DH has already written his response. He'll print the report/estimates at work tomorrow and mail them. - DH's lawyer called ... she is filing her response to the opposing party's appeal in Sept. At that point the judge has several months to look over all the paperwork. The lawyer says we should have a settlement by next summer. It's still a year away, but the end is in sight. We were always told it could take seven years max, and it's now exactly six years. I start prep/meetings this week. I start teaching next week. The second excavation/drain company is coming on Tuesday to do an estimate. We are still waiting for the estimate from the FIRST resin company. We've been waiting for it for 2.5 weeks. I'm not pleased, and not inclined to use them. ETA: Our departure was delayed because 365e later, the car was still acting up. They fixed it again on Mon, so we left a day late. It's STILL not fixed!!!

Sharon -- Congrats to all of the family. plugginaway22 -- I have no idea. I'm not on FB so no clue. Knee Deep in Water Chloe -- Good wishes for a very good school year. The gifts and wrapping are adorable and so thoughtful. The schools started here several weeks ago. While I miss the students and my friends I have made the adjustment to retirement quite nicely so far. Scheduling a few days out of town on the days the faculty reported back was a good move for me. startsmart-- you always amaze me by the amount of things you accomplish I am not sure how much I will get done this week as we are expecting several inches of rain within the next few days. In fact, we are currently under a thunderstorm which from what I can see is the result of one on the outer bands of Harvey. Please keep those in Texas in your prayers as they have a long road to recovery in their future. This Tuesday is the 12th anniversary of Katrina and there are still several areas in the city where the devastation from that storm are evident. This week list:
Home*Maintain the cleared areas *Mail off info to G *Exercise *Call about gutters/patio repair *Organize one area *Roomba all areas *Mop Kitchen *Mop Bath *Laundry *Add a few items to the donation box Crafts:*Bead *Take photos of newest completed projects *Order business cards -- craft show season is approaching fast *Add at least one item to Etsy Errands:*Home Improvement Store -- stock up on needed items -- *Pick up RX (only was able to get a partial refill last week -- hope to get the rest soon) *Grocery *Post office

Also ... DH is fed up with this (recurring) car issue and wants a new car. LOLOLOL!!!
I told DH first we pay to fix the house, then we pay back my sister (who loaned us 2.5K last year), then we pay off the kitchen (8.9K), and THEN we can think about a new car!!!
DH's office is closing down at the end of Oct, and he will get a sum of money then. It should be enough to pay for the house repairs and replenish the EF. (It looks like he will be hired by his biggest client immediately, thank Gd.)
IF insurance covers some of the repairs, we will first pay off my sister, and then the kitchen.
Once ALL that is done, we can think about getting a new car.
Of course we are STILL trying to sell either of those two studios ... we really, really need to sell one.

Wow Debt. You certainly have had your share. This morning I did again work on our kitchen. This time, appliances. Top of the Refrigerator was a hot mess. I cannot believe the cavalcade of junk we had laying around. A few more items cleaned and in donation bag. Sadly, I did a little shopping, but mostly as replacements for worn items. Bathroom is scrubbed. Now to get some batch cooking done. Please have a nice week.

dogmom I hope this doesn't sound bad but I just told DH, we really need a financial break. I'm at breaking point here. Well done on the kitchen!
