I'm having a slow morning. I've been pretty productive the past few days with finishing up the work I do for DH in the summer. I have a few more gifts to purchase. When we get home next week, I'll start the wrapping process for the 135 that remain.
Minor goals for today: grocery shopping for just eggs and fruit buy shoes for DH buy gifts for welcome back presents balance two accounts in YNAB Create two pages in my next year's journal
off to google Rothy's...

ok, I just wrote a post-it reminder and stuck it to the list of things I need to pack up to bring to the consignment shop tomorrow morning. if that doesn't remind me, then I really know I need to be taking those 2 days off M/T next week.

I will be taking a few days off when grandbaby gets here. Not so much to help DD, but will be available if she does need help, but so their pup won't have to be locked up so much. I will be puppy sitting while they are in the hospital and then for a day or so after they get home. I had thought that I would tackle the sewing room/office but now it looks like I will probably be making applesauce for both families.

I remembered!! Way to ruin my fun!! Thanks!! actually, the majority of the problem was that I would remember when I got home from work, but the cookbooks are all in the cubby of the dining room bar for storage, and I generally try to be quiet when I come in late. by the time I wake up in the morning, the thought is gone. tonight when I got home, early so I didn't get stuck in Patriots traffic, the house was all lit up and they had just gotten back from driving out to the beach. sorry to spoil your fun!

Not much progress today since I am battling knee pain going on 24 hours and it's making walking and cleaning difficult. I did get the last 2 loads of laundry queued up and the dishes done today + vacuumed the living room rug and sorted papers in the office. Hoping I feel 100% tomorrow since it's my last full work day before I take some time off. Gutters will most definitely not get done before I go so I need to have some energy tomorrow and move those behind the fence. I'll come back to this post throughout the day Friday in hopes to getting it all done.
Friday to dos are DONE!!!
cut up the rotten wood for the trash get the car smogged and pick up new tag take dog #3 in for shots + get his registration updated drop off photos for the fair NEW: take car in to the shop for tire rotation/fix MOVE the gutters to the backyard work on the shitepile in my office clean up the house since my parents might come over
finish up laundry Send in receipts File papers
Catch up on bank accounts for July Take out recycling from office
Arrange for photo pickup after the fair ends Vacuum the bedrooms + office

I have been a total wreck again about the house ... haven't done anything since finishing my list Tues morning. But we got very good news today!!!
We have two things to do, in order: - get the broken pipes underground fixed (not the pipes themselves, but the reservoirs? they feed into (not sure of the word in English) - get resin injections to stabilize and raise the extension that is sinking
We are getting at least 2 estimates for both items. But my friend whose (entire) house was sinking had a bill of about 100K euros (about $110K dollars). Hence my fear and my being non-functional ...
There are only 2 resin-injection companies in Europe. We had a (verbal) estimate from one of them this morning ... about 12-13K euros, including the geological study (I think)!!! Affordable!!! The second company will call us in 10 days to arrange for their estimate. I'm guessing it will be similar. We liked the guy that came today a lot.
The cost of fixing the underground plumbing will be on top of that, but in any case, we are FAR from the 80K-100K euros I was fearing. Thank Gd!!!
We are still waiting for one plumbing/excavation company to contact us for an estimate. The engineer today gave us the name of another company, the one they work with. DH is calling them today.
The engineer left two hours ago. I'm still shaking with relief.
We should get the written estimate in about 2 weeks. I'm guessing we will go with this resin company if the prices are similar. Two friends used the other resin company, and the company had to come back again for both of them.
It's not going to happen overnight though ... the study would be done 3 weeks after we sign, they get the report 3 weeks after that, and the resin injections (which should take one long day) would happen in Nov or Dec.

Yay for debthaven!
Knee Deep in Water Chloe is working on NEXT YEAR'S journal - I am so inadequate.
Doesn't seem like I've done much lately - but I did move some of the furniture and vacuum the bedroom. I just wasn't up to moving the bed - left that for another day. I also got rid of a big round clothes rack in the ebay room - I don't sell that many clothes - the few I do have in my ebay store fit in the closet and the clothes rack went to Goodwill!

I have been getting a few things out of the freezer. I just finished off the bag of shrimp the other night. I believe that I will work up a stirfry this weekend along with a few blenders of fruit smoothies.
Tonight is write up and photo things for donation. I will schlep them out to the car in the morning. I am all antsy to see if there is any noticeable change on the house and my mood.
Debt - Great news on the house. Chiver - I read your recipe and think I gained 5 pounds --- but it sounds yummy. Now I want to make a quiche. Smart - hope your knee gets better. Enjoy your non work time. Sharon - Enjoy the puppy and new grandbaby. Chloe - you are just scary efficient with your lists. Waffle - Round clothes rack donated - great way to clean up and gain some space. It also reminds me that I have a cat carrier that needs to be donated.
Rah, rah, rah! Here is a cheer for everyone trying to improve their life however they are working on it.

debthaven, that is excellent news! startsmart, I hope your pain subsides quickly. Waffle, great job clearing up space! snapdragon, fingers crossed for a positive result. Because it's the work week, I haven't gotten anything completed on my list on the prior page except going to two banks, the chamber functions, and grocery store. Last night I made pasta salad and wraps for this weekend, did a load of laundry and folded the load from Sunday, emptied the dishwasher, and hand washed pots/pans/fragile ware. Oh, and I met with the propane deliveryman yesterday afternoon and learned a lot. Happy weekend, everyone.

Hi Kids! Sorry I haven't been here much this week. Too much stuff going on here (gotta LOVE multi-tasking). Mom's attorney has "passed the baton" to me to try & pull up some paperwork that he hasn't been able to get. Also, I contacted the piano repairman to try & schedule a future date for more repairs (it's in tune, but needs more work). Finally, I've lost control of my paperwork pile again, so will need to thin that out. If I can find the telphone #, I need to get one of my contractors out here for another project. (My Summer is going much too fast. Anyone else here need an extra month, or two?)

Thanks ladies My knee was better today (can walk without pain!) and my trainer thinks I strained the tendon based on how it felt. Could have been from painting but I'm not stressing it too much before vacation. My list is SO CLOSE to being done! I printed out all my reservations and such, worked on a ton of papers in the office and caught up on 2 months of banking. When you have 5 bank accounts as I do it's a chore and a pain BUT I did notice one client's payment hadn't gone through this month and fixed it so $$ in the bank! Speaking of, I need to send a quickie proposal to a returning client before I go, he wants to work together again

Well just about everything that needed to get done is done and I'm in good shape for vacation. I have one bill to pay before I go and then I'm going to tidy up around the house one last time but otherwise it feels so good to be temporarily "done" with work.

The basement storage room is a mess again. I'm trying to get DH to tidy it / go through it again but he never parts with much, if anything.

DH & I tackled the garage once again this morning. I made a deal: either when the dumpster is full, or it's 11 a.m., is when we quit. Needless to say, the dumpster was full before 11. We've enjoyed amazing weather here lately. Temps have been hanging around the 70's (it's more like September weather, actually). With almost no breeze, I thought we'd get eaten alive by mosquitoes, but I didn't even see one. No complaints here!

DH and I spent most of today in the basement (it's raining here). We got through about 25% of it. It took a long time because we decided to move the two big sets of shelves on "my" side. We've done one set of shelves so far: we had to empty them, restabilize them, move them, clean them and put the Stuff back. We got rid of a bunch of Stuff though!
We hope to do the other set of "my" shelves between tomorrow and Tues (a holiday here). We may need to replace those shelves (they're very wobbly). That would mean going to Ikea, and spending money we don't want to spend. So I hope DH can fix them.
Part of the reason I want to move those shelves is because I want to move them away from the corner near the part of the house that's sinking. Fingers crossed for no more bad surprises ...
This week - go to donation bin (Sun) - bottle bank (Sun) - go to SA type place (Sun/Mon)
Our monthly garbage pick-up for bulky items is this Fri, we already have a bunch of things for that.

We've started the second set of "my" shelves. We are getting rid of a LOT of stuff. I'm amazed that DH is suddenly willing to part with certain items. I am getting rid of Stuff too (ie very old luggage). We will finish those shelves tomorrow. DH will do "his" shelves another time. "My" shelves include our pantry (food + household goods), all the kids' old stuff (toys I want to keep, artwork, some school stuff), extra glassware for parties, and all our luggage. DH's shelves include DH's stuff, DH's parents' stuff, and DH's tools. But we're getting there! DD took the car tonight, otherwise I'd take the stuff to the donation bin to get it out of the house. ETA: The second set of shelves are emptied, restabilized, moved and cleaned. We're nearly done putting the Stuff back, but too tired to finish tonight. Also, we found some nice toys I had saved. I'd like to get another set of cheap Ikea bookshelves for the first basement room, so I can put them out for when the baby is a bit older. Sharon you must be on baby watch!
