. . . you manipulate him:

"That’s how you move Trump. You don’t talk about ethics. You play the toughness card. You appeal to the art of the deal. You make him feel smart, powerful, and loved. You don’t forget how unmoored and volatile he is, but you set aside your fear and your anger. You thank God that you’re dealing with a narcissist, not a cold-blooded killer. And until you can get him safely out of the White House, you work with what you have. People in other countries have dealt with presidents like Trump for a long time. Can we handle it? Yes, we can."

he has demonstrated, repeatedly, how easy he is to manipulate. I can't think of a better reason why Putin supported him.

This seems pretty accurate. He is weak. Most bully's are. What will be interesting is to see if the people who kiss his ass all the time win out over the people who he wants to kiss his ass.

Who manipulated him to become a Repo after a lifetime of being a Demo? Maybe he looked at the slate of Republican hopefuls and decided there was less competition ;-)

He threatened the GOP to run as an independent if he didn't get his way. I bet they wish they stood up to him then.

Who manipulated him to become a Repo after a lifetime of being a Demo? Maybe he looked at the slate of Republican hopefuls and decided there was less competition ;-) He's been a registered republican since the 1990's. This is a quote from an 1999 interview with Larry King: "I'm a registered Republican. I'm a pretty conservative guy. I'm somewhat liberal on social issues, especially health care, et cetera, but I'd be leaving another party, and I've been close to that party ... I think that nobody is really hitting it right. The Democrats are too far left. I mean, Bill Bradley, this is seriously left; he's trying to come a little more center, but he's seriously left. The Republicans are too far right. And I don't think anybody's hitting the chord, not the chord that I want hear, and not the chord that other people want to hear, and I've seen it." The major differences between then and now is that back in the 90's he was pro-choice, for universal healthcare, and gun control. And i bet he hasn't differed that much from those things. Even back in the 90's he was all about tax cuts and deregulation.

What did you think the recount was really about?

The recount was about fund raising and keeping the democratic base both agitated and hopeful

The recount was about fund raising and keeping the democratic base both agitated and hopeful Just like Trump is keeping his base riled up and hopeful with his nonsense about the flag, prison time and/or loss of citizenship for burning it. Nothing gets some folks riled up like disrespect for the flag.

I generally agree with what you wrote, except I don't think it is "nonsense" but as a desired side effect it is keeping his profile up with his base
So I guess u r saying you agree with me? (It's hard for me to tell because it seems hard to pin the Dems down on certain topics for some reason....)

I have no illusions any recount is going to give Clinton the presidency. Nor am I under the impression Clinton was the individual who called for the recount in the first place. Having said that, I believe many ( not all) of Trump's supporters believe he can change Supreme Court decisions with the snap of his fingers just because he is president. But Trump knows how to play his more naive supporters and keep the fires burning for him. Unfortunately, he is going to let them down and eventually his supporters will discover they were lied to and played for fools..

Once again a classic non-answer to a simple question...it's hard to say yes or no....isn't it? and then the typical duck and dodge move.....so boring.....

Fundraising and media attention for the Green party. Not really helpful to the Democratic party. For those who pay attention to the past, the Democratic party has a dismal record in contesting close elections. They concede even when they shouldn't. MO.
