I was flipping through the program guide on the TV, and came across something on C-SPAN2. It is a BookTV production of the Washington, DC Shakespeare Theater Company. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg presiding over a mock trial of Winston Smith vs. Oceania. It also includes Justice Stephen Breyer and some DC Circuit Court judges. There is a video of the program in the linked page. It looks to be over an hour long and I'm only about 20 minutes into it, but this is awesome! link

It is. You should try watching it. Even you might grasp some of the humor. The first five minutes can be skipped if one wants. It is mostly introduction. And there is a related discussion later while "deliberations" are going on. But the actual presentations before the "Court" and the exchanges with the justices (judges) are worth the watch. There are numerous tie-ins to today's world.

without the context, i doubt one could see the humor in it. wrong?
edit: i am asking because i can't seem to get it to play.

The context and the tie-ins to today certainly make it much more engaging and relevant. I would recommend taking the fifty minutes or so to watch at least the trial portion. The discussion was with somebody involved in the fight between Apple and the government over the cell-phone access. Also interesting.

Maybe this will help. If you have access to C-SPAN2 my on-screen program guide shows that it will be shown again (at least here) at 6:00 A.M. tomorrow. Don't know what to tell you about not being able to view it online.
