I think Maybelline has decided to do away with my shade of foundation. not the whole line of the type I use, but just my shade! I use the mousse foundation, I like the weight and feel of it. I'm ghost-pale all winter, and use shade 30. I've been all over hell and creation the past couple of weeks, trying to find it since I'm almost out. what I keep finding is shade 40 (one darker) filling up both the 30 slot and the 40 slot. finally today, I head over to the brand new Target that just opened up. you'd think they would be fully stocked, right? well, the little plastic thingy that hangs below the shelves - that shows all the shades? yeah, it shows 10, 20, 40, 50, and so on. WTS?!? I end up in shade 40 as I spend more time outside in nice weather, so I picked up a 40. looks like I'll have to make an effort to get some sun, the last thing I want to do is have a visible line! *ok, rant over. thanks for listening.

Could you make your own blend with the 20/40 to get your shade? The 30 may not be equal quantities of each.

not easily, it's not a liquid. it's on the idea of pancake makeup, but much lighter. I usually have hives from the scents of my shower products, so I need to cover those in the morning before I go out in public.

Silly question to ask a woman, but could you just use unscented bath products?

To make your own blend of something denser than liquid- could you try using a small container to store it after you've blended it. Use a spatula on plastic wrap or inside a zip lock.

MDW - even the unscented stuff still gives me hives. the only way I won't is if I shower right before bed, then get up and go. I have ridiculously sensitive skin.
Deb, that's a good idea, I might try that if the 40 is too dark now. I've got a ton of little gladware containers, like salad dressing-sized.

IG, I think I've been in every store in my area. including the ones I don't normally shop at. I just figured they were all outta stock until I saw the graphic at the brand new store. I just double-checked their website and it still shows up in the product catalog. I don't think I'd be as annoyed if they just did away with the mousse foundation altogether, but to just nix the shade I'm using right now is just not cool.

Contact the company either by e-mail or telephone and tell them about it.
Allercreme did a change of shade every other year. I had to retest and would buy a couple of bottles. I don't have to "suit up" so I don't care anymore about foundation.
Wet & Wild does this with their lipstick colors. I get one that blocks the sun just right and then that color is gone.
ETA: correct spelling.

I'd call that 800 number or contact them through their website. Sometimes there's a run on a particular product or an issue with manufacturing. About a month and a half ago I had to visit 6 different stores before I found the tampons I get in stock. I worried they were discontinuing them but it turned out to be a manufacturing issue.

this is just one online retailer, but it's what I saw for all of them with the links I got on the maybelline website. my shade is 30, or "natural ivory 3" depending on the graphics. very annoyed. I'll look for contact information later, I'm likely to tell someone off right now. I think I'll be OK for now with the 40. if I need to, I'll just hit the tanning booth at the gym a couple times to get some quick color before it's nice enough to actually sit outside. I just want to know what the deal is before next winter when I'm ghost-pale again. seriously, how do you wipe out one shade, and leave the rest of the line intact? grr...!

I found that their Dream Liquid Mousse is a lighter texture and doesn't feel like I'm wearing "cake makeup". The liquid mousse shades also always seem to be more well-stocked whenever I'm purchasing. And they have about 3 different "ivory" shades.

You could do what I do and get spray tanned or use a sunless tanner and bronzer.

Chiver, I know how you feel and I'm sorry you can't find it anymore. My favorite things always get discontinued or changed. I don't much care for change. LOL!

I used the same mousse (even the same shade, I think!) you're talking about, and I think they must have stopped selling it around here, too. I went to Target and Wal-Mart and neither had my shade... ended up buying the kind with the sponge on the end of the stick. It doesn't cover quite as well as the mousse, but I'm pretty happy with it, and the applicator is easy to use. I'd call the 800 number but if you really need some now, the spongy-stick will fill in nicely

And they have about 3 different "ivory" shades. how's the coverage on that, is it really light? the matte mousse *had* 3 different shades of ivory, until recently. I might look at those next time. I've noticed that whatever the new type is, that one's fully stocked. the matte mousse has been out a few years now. I have a hard time with makeup too, for the sensitive skin issues. when I find something I like, I stick with it as long as possible. maybelline's always been a safe brand for me. I tried out the 40 tonight, it looked OK....but it was kind of dark at the bar. I'll see what it looks like tomorrow in daylight, and see how I feel.

good luck, let me know if they have my shade, I might ask you to mail me some! SL - while cleaning out the bathroom closets/drawers this weekend, I found some dream smooth mousse way in the back of a drawer. as soon as I saw what it was, I remembered trying and not liking it. I must have picked it up when it first came out. thanks for the recommendation though...

You know the pre-printed strip they use to mark which shade is in which little slot? Well, the strip literally skips shade 30. boo...that's what I've been seeing too. thanks for looking though!

Chiver I was also at Wally World the other day and looked for your makeup while I was looking for something for me, I also saw that the 30 is skipped altogether on the labels. Sorry.
