i was anticipating that Clinton was just going to avoid this issue, and let Trump stew in his own narcissistic juices. it appears that i am wrong. emboldened by her recent poll numbers, she is now publicly advocating "immigration reform". i think it is a mistake: www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2016/08/05/clinton_2016_landscape_may_favor_immigration_reform_131436.htmlto be clear: i think avoiding this issue is better for Clinton than taking it on. i think she is both brave AND foolish for doing so. she will give Trump something REAL to latch onto, instead of letting him and his supporters stew in their own perceptions. what do you think?

Trump has his ground on the issue staked out well. He casts Clinton as supporting all else. She might as well offer clear policy.

I think it is good that she is letting a good portion of her supporters know that she wants changes in the way things are done in reference to immigration. I think that the Hispanics in particular need to know that they haven't been forgotten in all the bologna that is coming from Trump....and it seems to me that is what she is doing.

Acording to the census of 2014, about 15% of the population of this country is foreign born. That is the highest that has ever been. And that percentage includes legal residents/citizens only! Those that become citizens have a very high rate of voter registration compared to the natural born citizens. They also tend to take their responsibilities more seriously and very few of them miss voting day on purpose. That being said, I consider the 15% as a key block in achieving a political majority. Ofcourse, not all of them afilliate with the Democratic Party but if the candidate of your party openly declares that he/she will deport all that are not legal residents without due process what is one to think when you yourself went through that? Answer that comes to mind: " I might be next!" Lo and behold, Mister Trump just said it: he is not sure that those that are naturalized citizens should be allowed to vote! Is anyone in the right mind still thinking that I might vote for a candidate such as this one?

Our immigration policy needs to be redone and clarified ........... and enforced.
All 4 borders need to be watched.

Immigration does need to be reformed - it's needed it for a long time - but IMHO anything Clinton says that is not 'build a wall and kick them all out' will be cut and pasted into a Willy Horton type ad from the Trump camp - "Hillary coddles illegal immigrants."
IMHO I think it would only hurt her. She would have a better chance at actually achieving badly needed reform if she stayed silent on the issue for now and them mobilized a task force to come up with a plan in her first 100 days in office.

I agree with Happyhoix. I don't see how talking about immigration can be a plus for Clinton. While I believe Trump's position is excessive, many people would love to slow down illegal and legal immigration. Anything that does not support that to some degree is problematic IMO.
