I think many of the mainstream conservative Republicans want Donald Trump to lose. They envision only disaster for their party if he wins. Well yeah, they'd be global laughing stocks... And America would be too.

A few of my hardcore republican family members are jumping ship which I thought would never happen. They don't want Hillary or national healthcare, but they really don't want Trump.

I feel like Trump is really working for the Democrats. Like his whole point is to be so horrible that HRC wins. Because that's the only way my brain can make sense of this. I don't think so. I keep thinking about the former professional wrestler as president in Idiocracy. Replace Wrestler with "Reality TV star" and it makes scary sense.

I think many of the mainstream conservative Republicans want Donald Trump to lose. They envision only disaster for their party if he wins. Well when Bill Krystal, George Will, and freaking Glenn Beck are all vocal opponents of Trump then you have an issue. Not to mention there isn't one Bush that is supporting him, Lindsay Graham vocally opposes him as does Mitt Romney and Hank Paulson. But, I think more critically are the people who say that they will support the parties nominee, but are keeping a very low profile. Actions speak louder than words, and the conventions made it very clear what the establishment GOP thinks of their party nominee. I think the majority of them are praying that he loses, so that the GOP isn't destroyed for potentially a generation. And if we get a Trump presidency, then I think the GOP lose control of the senate and perhaps even the house at the mid-terms in 2018, and then if he's as much of a disaster as I suspect he would be I think the GOP lose the white house for potentially a generation. However, it also says a lot to me about this country if Hillary loses in this election. If Hillary loses, then I think it's unlikely we will see a serious female candidate for president in the next 20-25 years.

which is where Trump's support comes, from: Those people who feel the "establishment" is ignoring them.
Why they think Trump is any better still eludes me, though.
Are there enough pissed off people to bring him a win? I don't think so.

Along the lines of swamp's earlier link... This made me lol... "Hers was a continuation of the uplift so masterfully delivered Wednesday night by President Barack Obama in a speech that prompted conservative National Review editor Rich Lowry to complain on Twitter: "American exceptionalism and greatness, shining city on hill, founding documents, etc. They're trying to take all our stuff." My brain hurt once my theory of him running being a big April's fool joke and it's all for his new reality show was proven incorrect.

No, now I'm simply terrified at the possibility. Hillary's not MY perfect candidate, but I don't think we'll be launched into the final world war with her at the helm like we will be if Donald wins.

I'm not saying I like Micheal Moore or Trump here - but I do think this makes a bit of sense: michaelmoore.com/trumpwillwin/Here's a brief summary: 1.) Midwest Math, or Welcome to Our Rust Belt Brexit. A bunch of states have turned their back on the DNC and have gone for a we don't care who we elect - we want change even if it's bad lets vote Republican! 2.) The Last Stand of the Angry White Man. White Guys want their power back - there's no way they are voting for a woman. 3.) The Hillary Problem. She's unpopular. 4.) The Depressed Sanders Vote. Sander's supporters are not excited about Hillary - they aren't going to vote for Trump so they may vote for Hillary or just avoid voting all together. If they do vote they won't be bringing friends/family with them (ie they aren't a grass root - get everyone they know/talk to passionate about voting) 5.) The Jesse Ventura Effect. People will vote for Trump - even if they think it's a bad idea -- simply because they CAN. They want to 'shake things up' - won't that be fun?

I've heard so many people that fall in line with #5, including my roommate. it makes me nuts. if Trump wins I think it will be because of number 5 - rather than anything else. It's like Boaty McBoatFace - when the internet was asked to decide what to name the new British research ship.
I listened to a news report talking to a Republican (can't remember who it was) about endorsing Trump and trying to reconcile Trump's request that Russia hack the US servers - basically a national security threat NOT to mention Trump asking a foreign power to meddle in American politics. The politician stuck to a script and kept bringing the conversation back to how untrustworthy Hilary was and how Trump's request was inconsequential since it was too late to get Hilary on her emails. The politician wouldn't even come out and directly state that he endorsed/supported Trump. In fact, the evasiveness and non-answers and saying he backed the Republican Party made me feel like he had an undercurrent of Fear in his responses - or maybe it was desperation. Not sure.
I suspect the GOP/Republicans are not happy with Trump as their candidate. I wonder what the plan is for IF Trump is elected - who will hold the power behind Trump? Which of the Republicans can do that - or will there be chaos as they all fight for power/favor?

I think many of the mainstream conservative Republicans want Donald Trump to lose. They envision only disaster for their party if he wins. I'm less sure of this. My SIL is heavily involved in Republican politics in our state. They would take Trump over Hillary in a heartbeat just for the Supreme Court appointments. I keep arguing that a Republican Congress can thwart Hillary's nefarious plans (LOL), but what are they going to do when it is their own "party leader" whose causing all the problems? Deaf ears. ETA: I just hope I have some friends left when this election is over. I get tired of lies and feel the urge to refute them. Today's special was that Hillary volunteered to represent the rapist of a twelve-year-old girl and laughed about knowing he was guilty but getting him freed. It is all over my friends' FB pages. I felt the urge to post the Snopes.com link. I really need to go into hibernation until December.

It blows my mind the idiotic memes that people post without checking to make sure the information is valid.

1872 Victoria Woodhull was the first female to be nominated for president. Source#historywasmade. True in a way. History RemadeSocial media debate erupted over whether Hillary Clinton was the first female presumptive nominee for President, or if that honor went to Victoria Woodhull. CLAIM: Victoria Woodhull, not Hillary Clinton, was the first female presidential nominee. MIXTURE: WHAT'S TRUE: Victoria Woodhull was technically the first female nominee for President in 1872, but no votes for her were recorded or tallied, and she was several months shy of 35 at the time of her campaign and thus technically ineligible to hold office. WHAT'S FALSE: While newspapers and online news outlets described Clinton as the first female nominee, Clinton herself repeatedly qualified the statement with "[of a] major party"; Clinton did not declare herself the first female presumptive nominee without that qualifier. My mom who has been tossing back and fourth between Clinton and Trump, she's an avid Republican with a leaning toward Trump right now even said when she said this "This is so right!" which shocked me because I have yet to hear her agree with anything that Clinton says and it amused me that when she finally had it was something to do with Trump. =P
