Oh? What happened? Nothing, they just didn't make it into the finals. Do you know somebody in Brockville? You realize that the city is named after Sir Isaac Brock, whose major accomplishment in life was slaying American invaders? You should be voting against Brockville to avenge your brethren of old.

I know lots of people in Brockville.
ETA: The Sir Issac Brock is also a hotel that housed the strip club all the guys went to when we were in HS.

Virgil, I got you covered. Voted four times where I had to verify images, and stopped because the index finger was getting weak! I now have family members joining the vote.

I voted 8 times. Got tired of the images to prove I wasn't a robot. I'll be back.

Virgil Showlion, I am sure you could write a script that would get around the "are you a human" requirements.

I voted like crazy at least 20 times. Then the program suspected me of being a robot & started giving me a second set of pictures each time so I quit. If I remember later I'll go back in & vote some more.

Virgil Showlion , I am sure you could write a script that would get around the "are you a human" requirements. No, in fact. Even if I wanted to, the kind of object and language recognition needed to reliably answer the questions is beyond the capabilities of modern AI. The CAPTCHA is very well designed in that respect. Besides this, there are far cheaper ways of hiring veritable armies of flesh-and-blood human beings (usually based out of India) to game Internet ratings. Businesses exist whose only purpose is to upvote, downvote, spam, shill, recommend, deride, advertise, tweet about, search for, harass, and link to anyone or anything you tell them to--for the right price. There's a technical term for this; I can't remember what it is. In the security community, it falls under "black hat SEO" or "ranking manipulation". It's one of the reasons why nobody trusts Internet polling on highly contentious topics. The unfortunate reality is that for an obscure competition like this Kraft Hockeyville, anyone determined and unscrupulous enough could drop a few hundred dollars on purchasing such services and buy tens of thousands of votes, which would almost certainly win the competition. Some might say this isn't cheating, and I suppose it technically isn't, but i) it's not fair to the other participating communities, and ii) the payoff for Kraft is presumably the publicity that comes from people spreading word about the competition, and buying votes from a rent-a-vote company undermines that.

I am out for the day but if Lumby doesn't win it's not because I didn't do my part. I threw them votes all day long. 5 here, 10 there several different times. Kind of like playing a game while I was on hold or a client was rambling on in my ear.

You'll earn the title of honourary Lumbyite, no matter how the contest turns out.

Just tried to vote again but it's not letting me. There may be issues with firewalls, scripting, etc. Don't worry. Thanks for trying.

Thanks again, all! Voting is closed. According to the site, the winner will be announced in... 12 days!!? We're going to have to wait 12 days to find out if Lumby won!?? Well... if we're not dead of old age by then, I guess that's when I'll update everyone on the results.

Gave you another "Baker's Dozen" (bonus points for everyone that knows how many that is ) I'm a baker. I know. Unfortunately. (Lucky number 13) Good thing I don't have Triskaidekaphobia. Or a fear of figuring out how to spell that word. Copy and paste is a good friend to have.
