That is what I just paid for heating oil. Just last year I paid $4.87. I know these prices are artificial and won't last, but I am considering getting a second and third tank.

I paid less than $1/gallon for LP last Fall. That's the first it was that low in the 15 years I've been here. I was wishing I could have pre-bought more than a years worth.

I saw the futures were trading near a dollar, so it might sell for even less, but still, that is a bargain compared to years past!
Edit. Trading at about $.97 a gallon. Everyone top off your heating oil tank this spring for next fall, or prepay your delivery service for the fall.

Do you know how shelf stable heating oil is? I'm wondering if it gets stale and forms gummy deposits in equipment, like stale gasoline does. Maybe you can simply prepay for fuel oil, and have it delivered as you need it.
