Check in? You've had a very tough weekend weather-wise.

We're good. Had a couple of tornados near us (we're about 30-40 minutes away from Rowlett) but nothing but extremely heavy rain for us. Still dealing with flooding issues for any travel in the area over the next couple of days.

I will drive down to the other side of town to check out the Mississippi river this weekend. It is supposed to be well above flood stage due to all the rain this past week or so. It is already flooding a few of the lowest level streets in the north part of the city.
Usually flood stage happens late winter/early-to-mid spring with the snow melt from the upper midwest and eastern Rockies and not now due to rain this time of year.

I've been following a couple of the FB pages set up to help the various towns deal with the tornado damage. So far, it looks like people are getting clothing and food needed. Most locations are now refusing donations of anything other than clean up needs and gift cards. Rowlett Garland Tornado InfoLavon & Farmersville

We had a huge snow storm come through El Paso over the weekend, we normally do not get snow so it's been interesting to see the people who do not know how to drive in rain maneuver in snow.

I'm in the northeast, so we should know how to drive in snow. But it seems that everyone forgets over the summer...I can only imagine what it would be like down there. All the best...

Thank you, I am originally from the northeast so I am not worried about my driving, I just worry about everyone else's.

I had people messaging and texting me while the tornados were hitting. I was sitting in a bar watching a buddy play music.
Finally checked in on Facebook just so people would know where I was, and stop worrying themselves unnecessarily. I work in Garland, but live far north of there.
Some friends who live in the area were not hit, but are very involved in the cleanup efforts.

I grew up in Maine and learned very quickly to stay off the roads when we get even an inch here in Dallas. There hasnt been anywhere Ive needed to go that badly so far and Id rather not end up in an accident because people drive too fast (or slow for that matter).
