I'm pretty sure in Paris it's just called "onion". It's probably called soupe à l'oignon. Whatever they call it, it's most likely to be delicious!

It isn't French onion, on the menu but really wasn't much more than what you'd pay in the US. I think it was 6E, or about $7.

Uhhhhh.......food really hasn't been that much more here than in the US. We had one mega expensive meal, but the rest of the time, meals for 2 including wine have been around 50E. I had a fantastic meal in Rouen, a salad with crispy goat cheese, duck with potatoes and veggies and crime brûlée for about 19E. There is better quality, lessor quantity. We have acquired a habit that I picked up in my previous trips. Most boulangaries (bakeries) make stuffed baguettes, usually with either ham, chicken or cheese. These run about 4E and we have picked them up for dinner when we don't want to go out. There was a fruit market down the street where we picked up fruit (about the same cost as the US) and sodas or water.

Last meal here, but my feet are dead. We have a decent Chinese place, or a place that makes gratinee l'oignon (French onion, but mine is as good). We both kind of want pasta tonight though and I really don't want to go back to the Champs Elysee where all those restaurants are.
Our flight home leaves at 11 am tomorrow. I was informed that all electronic equipment that I take onto the plane with me must be charged enough to turn on and show them it functions. This includes my phone, iPad and Kindle. I'm guessing security is going to be ugly, they said to expect extra time. We scheduled a cab for 7, should get to the airport about 7:30.

Don't they have any other soups? Aren't we stereotyping here?

It was wrapped in phyllo, and OMG was it good! We just got back from dinner at another cafe. A carafe of wine, 2 soups and 2 boeuf borgignons was 67E. We did French onion again, and the broth had been thickened somewhat, and rather than one big crouton, there was a handful of little ones. It was still good, but we should have split the entree, neither of us ate half of it.
