I am as pro-gun ownership as you get, but this is a stupid stupid idea.
Teachers carrying guns is not going to do anything about school shootings Having armed security guards is not going to do anything about school shootings.
All it's going to do is provide much better gun access right INSIDE the schools for anyone who would want that access. This way they won't have to worry about getting it at home and bringing it to school. They will have it right there on a silver platter.
And as an additional benefit, I bet there will be plenty of instances when "smart, good-decision maker" brains of teenagers will want to play all kinds of jokes on their equally "smart" class mates that will involve a gun. Creativity of our young ones should not be underestimated.

Mass shooting are stopped by unarmed people on a regular basis- get over your gun fetish. I think the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is preventing him from getting one At that point there is a bad guy without a gun. Just like stopping drug abuse is by preventing access to drugs...and since drugs are illegal no one has access to them....

Self destruction is a different topic than mass violence.
While 3D printers might change the situation at some point, we don't generally have the means of production for firearms I our general vicinity as we do with drugs.

Still waiting... (the thread title does not include any form of encouragement to use) Somebody buys you a gun ... They are encouraging you to use it... Otherwise, why buy it? No they aren't (trust me on this one... I've bought guns for people). They are encouraging you to HAVE one. for the "Otherwise, why buy it?" question, my answer is: In case they DO need it. According to the old axiom - "It's better to have and not need, than to need and not have".

According to the old axiom - "It's better to have and not need, than to need and not have". But when they do need it... They are not encouraged to use it? No. It's there if they feel the NEED to. I hope the guns I've given are NEVER used. I would NEVER encourage someone to use a gun. I don't know of anyone else that would either. There's a difference between "encouragement" and "I hope you never have to, but, just in case" that you are apparently missing.
