I haven't been on these boards for about two years, because of some smart-asses cruel comments. Decided to try again, because it may keep me from my on-line shopping addiction. Don't plan to post too much, but I wanted to re-introduce myself.

WOW! Didn't expect so much response! Thank you all so much! Well, later bloomer, I figured if I came back here I wouldn't be on e-bay or other sites. This one is free, right? There's nothing to buy! So far it hasn't worked. I had a big shopping day today. But it can't happen overnight. Have to get used to checking in here instead. My name is Ezzzie, and I'm a shopping addict.................

Hi ezzie! This is much more entertaining than shopping! Well, there's a story behind that. I have had two strokes and multiple surgeries since 2012. 2016 will be the first year I will not have surgery. I feel better==My weight seems to have stabilized at 30 lbs less that my former self, I found a really good hair stylist, and didn't spend any money while I was sick. Before that,I didn't spend money being a good YM'er. Didn;t buy work clothes because I wasn't planning to work for many more years. Every penny I had went toward retirement. But now the dam has burst............

I imagine it's hard to switch from savings mode to enjoyment mode. I'm not there yet...7 years to go!

Ezzzie, just make sure you know the difference between mindless shopping and investing something in yourself. Mindless shopping to deal with other emotions, like fear and loneliness is not a good thing; it just masks the real issues. But buying and investing in your own needs and yes, your own wants, is not a bad thing. We can all still do that and do the good YM thing, too.

No, I haven't started spending down yet. All my retirement funds are still intact! Happy Prose, I'm afraid it's going to be "hoarder" mode rather than "enjoyment mode". And I would so much prefer to be working; can't because of stroke defecits.

Also, ezzzie, I don't know exactly what happened before. But I'll warn you that if you ask for financial advice, you'll get it, no holds barred. YM ers can be brutal in that regard, so try not to take it personally.

I would EXPECT to be brutalized about financial stuff!!!!
