A Bearded towel headed man attacked the cockpit.
That isn't obvious? You could mistake that person for your mother, or your former teacher maybe?
Where is that from? It can't be a news source, they know the word for turban or whichever headdress it was.

Then welcome to North America. Alas it's a moot point, since the number is far closer to 0% than 97%. Look at stats from resettled communities in Sweden, the UK, Canada. Look at anti-western sentiment and the lax work ethic in Syria generally, let alone in refugees from all over northern Africa. I read this morning that even the US's "Little Syria" doesn't want these new refugees coming in. The only Americans who do are those who place the general principle of helping refugees above every practical consideration imaginable. actually, the European stats are useless. i pointed out why, TWICE. you ignored it. you keep ignoring it. the Canadian stats may or may not be relevant. do you have a six tier screening process and an (18) month waiting period? i breathlessly await your reply. I will continue to ignore your ignoring the European stats, because they're not useless. Yes, Canada ordinarily has a six-tier screening process and a waiting period. Wow. "Six-tier screening process" really makes it sound as though only the best of the best get through. Let's see what the process entails to confirm this. To wit (bold by me): FIRST STEP: Most migrants enter the U.S. refugee program through a referral from the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. (already done; the UN is dumping these people on anyone who will take them)
PREPARING THE FILE: Applications go to one of nine State Department-funded "resettlement support centers" overseas run by international or non-government groups. Caseworkers, who are not U.S. government officials, collect information from applicants. (OK)
THE INTERVIEW: Officers from the Department of Homeland Security's Citizenship and Immigration Services travel from Washington to where the applicants are to decide whether they meet the legal definition of a refugee, based on whether they have faced or likely will face persecution. (Uh huh. And basically everyone qualifies here. Still not seeing a whole lot of 'screening' going on.)
SECURITY CHECKS: Applicants undergo multiple background and security checks involving the National Counterterrorism Center; the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center; Homeland Security; and the State Department. Details of the checks are classified. (Some actual screening! Thus, provided Joe Syrian is a known terrorist with non-fake ID, he'll be filtered right out. I'm sure the vast majority of potential terrorists fall into this category.)
HEALTH SCREENING: Applicants are screened for diseases that might pose a threat to public health. A resurgence of tuberculosis prompted U.S. health authorities in 2007 to tighten testing protocols. (wonderful)
FINAL LEG: After a three-day cultural orientation class, the International Organization for Migration, an intergovernmental group, arranges travel. The U.S. government pays travel costs, but refugees sign a reimbursement agreement. (I'm sure the cultural orientation class will neutralize any of the radicals and welfare-seekers in the bunch.) There we have it. A near-impenetrable firewall against malcontents, radicals, the unemployable, and those unwilling/unable to assimilate. And besides that, they have to wait a whole 18 months for the paperwork to clear! Sitting on their arses in a refugee center taking handouts for 18 months is our iron-clad guarantee that they'll be productive, well-adjusted, west-loving citizens by the time they get here. It's like a six-tier HEPA filter for undesirables, only using a special, invisible kind of filtering that doesn't look like filtering to the untrained eye. In any case, we can be certain that the ones who get through will be so thoroughly filtered, they'll bear no resemblance whatsoever to the masses flooding into Europe, and we can all safely ignore those "useless" European statistics just like you said. I was blind but now I see.

The only people kept out by not taking refugees will be the refugees. The terrorists have the money and resources to figure out other ways to get here.

And all I just wanted was the data source of how they know who's a terrorist or not. Fear not, my friend. The data is supplied by the same crack team that sniffed out the link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11, nailed down Osama bin Laden's whereabouts in a matter of days, and warned us all about ISIS months--nay, years--in advance of Iraq being overrun. These guys are good. If you've ever burned a US flag, thrown a Molotov cocktail, or stoned an infidel, you'll be on their blacklist for sure. Believe you me.

In other words, we should let them in because we can't keep terrorists out anyway. Sadly, this qualifies as the best pro-refugee argument thus far made in this thread.

Hey! Contrary to the craziness some folks are posting we do have a screening process! The refugee pool we will be pulling from are the ones living in refugee camps, most will be women, children and married men and they do have to go through approximately 6 interviews before being admitted. Trudeau is easing up on the 5 week deadline and including refugees that have been landing for the last few months and will likely extend the deadline by a month or two. When they get here they will be housed in spaces that are easily monitored like military barracks. Contrary to what some would have you believe, we are not blindly taking anyone and everyone.

Contrary to what some would have you believe, we are not blindly taking anyone and everyone. We pretty much are. The National Post this morning reported that the Liberals are waiving the ban on single men if they claim they're homosexual during the interviews. You can't make this stuff up.

Contrary to what some would have you believe, we are not blindly taking anyone and everyone. of the refugees that we are considering, 50% are women and children. 25% are over 60. of the remaining 25%, 80% are the fathers of those children, and only 5% are single males (you know- the ones we screen for at airports) without wives or children. if you want to scrutinize that 5% CLOSELY, be my guest. but i think it is reasonable to assume that they ARE being screened- VERY CLOSELY- based on the profile of those that they are accepting. if you look at the Paris videos, you will see basically 100% men, no women, no children, and no aged. that is precisely the OPPOSITE of what we are taking. i really don't get the stupidity of the right wing argument at all, and i am done entertaining it. i was done as soon as i found out what our process was.

Travel with the drug traffickers... work visas, visas for visitation of family members, all of the above to neighboring states and then walking across the border. the presumption that these people are without resources or smarts ignores every detail of 911.

Travel with the drug traffickers... You're right. These sound like cheap, quick, risk-free ways for rolling-in-the-dough ISIS to get thousands of operatives into the US. I guess it doesn't make sense for them to inject sleepers into refugee convoys. What about radicals not affiliated with ISIS? Are they going to stay away from the refugee convoys too?

If you can find me an article (even a well-written blog post) anywhere online to back up the claim that terrorists will eschew refugee convoys because other "migrant trails" to the US exist, I'll drop the argument. As I see it, this refugee crisis is the cheapest, easiest, most risk-free way to move a large number of malefactors into western nations. And by 'malefactors', I'm referring only to operatives in well-funded terrorist organizations. For run-of-the-mill, broke, unconnected would-be terrorists, it's the only way into western nations.
