So we can finally say out loud that it sucks to be Virgil?

So we can finally say out loud that it sucks to be Virgil? Until Wednesday of this week, it sucks to be me. And Dark in CA with no AC! I wouldn't survive. You'd find me dead of heat stroke in the refrigerator tent. Given the right gear, I can handle anything from -35° C to 23° C (-31° F to 74° F for you Yankees) and deal with it. Anything colder than that is too bloody cold, and anything hotter than that is too bloody hot. I grew up at high altitude in western Canada. I was born near the northern Alberta border. I'm imbued with the cold-loving spirit of the wooly mammoth.

Oh Virgil Showlion, that sounds so hot and uncomfortable, I'm here cooled off with a nice lemon lime water, listening to a ball game across the street in the park.

I had the same problem, just too darn hot figuring out which month I'll be going to Faber, Virginia next year to do the Gateway Voyage. Temps there are over 100F in June, so June was a write off, Oct. it's 70F to 75F, just better imo

Apparently there is an actual heatwave in Massachusetts. Three days of 90 degree plus weather.
I went from the ac house on Sat am to work. Left 12 hours later in delirium. Didn't notice the weather. It's Monday. I ran to the car...across DH's parking spot to mine and back.
Thus ends my adventures in hot weather.
If you want to discuss finances...ask me how much I spent to install central air in a 130+yo house with limited ductwork. I will never regret that decision and will gratefully eat cat food (even though I don't really like fish heads).
I don't experience the heat if I can possibly avoid it. Unless it's winter. Then I'm looking for 70 inside.

Portable room air conditioner.
Problem solved. A 12,000 BTU portable room air conditioner costs $800.00 plus tax in Canada. I checked. Plus we're lacking storage space as it is. I can live until Wednesday.

Ick! That sounds awful, Virgil! Could you, maybe, have your wife call the air-conditioner repair gremlins and cry? We generally cry more realistically than you males and we can do a smashing Theda Bara when required!

Inside temp is currently 84 - we have AC but I'm trying to save the environment as best I can.

Problem is, I don't think the Canadian air-conditioner repair gremlins are going to bite on a caller from South Carolina claiming to be dying in the Toronto heat!

We're 68F here and raining. A high of 84F predicted for tomorrow with rain all day and heavy thunderstorms tomorrow night. We may drown.

It was 41C (105F) here today with the humidex, and it's VERY humid. I love this heat! It's about bloody time we get a little summer. I had the heat on in June and July when the temps dipped to 13C at night.
One thing, though....this is NOT a good time to paint my kitchen. I damn near passed out.

I live in phoenix. Enough said.
(For those of you who didn't pick the melted off thermometer off your asphalt, it was 117 Friday or 47.2C). We don't deal with air conditioners going out in summer time, it's an emergency!

My Mom's got asthma, allergies and hay fever. When the AC goes out in summer, she politely calls the AC guys. Once they hear about her breathing issues, she gets bumped up the list - they don't want her dying on their watch.

Amateurs, all of ya (except for Simser - Phoenix gets hotter than anywhere in FL, though our humidity is higher). It will be like a hot, wet oven here until sometime in November. I am looking forward to the Jersey shore next month.

I'd be staying in a hotel until Wednesday. I don't handle heat well.

I want to know how hot it is by Virgil. Yesterday I think we escaped having to hit 97 and maybe only got up to 95F. Need to check today's temps, I hope we are still on track to get out of the 90s by tomorrow.

It's about 81° with 100% humidity. Not quite as bad as yesterday but still far too hot for me. As I say, I "max out" at 74° F.

I'm sorry, Virgil. I really feel for you. Mother would be weeping with empathy. She hated the heat! Somehow, I've never thought about Canada getting hot. I always think of it blanketed in snow, even though I realize (intellectually) that's not how it is. I can't imagine having to live in that heat and humidity without air conditioning.

That's what the people I know do! -just kidding. (you do live in an igloo though, right?!? ) Some of these look pretty "cool"! I don't know if this is a view of the same place, or not. I just like it!

Nice! And these are your pets? Or do you have wild wolves, for pets? (you're so exotic!)
