Sick-o Texas Cops Forcibly Search Women’s Body Cavities In PublicAugust 15, 2015 Texas cops seem to get their kicks out of conducting forcible cavity searches of women’s bodies by the side of the road. They keep doing it in spite of the fact that it’s a violation of the Constitution, the Texas legislature has outlawed it, and criminal charges have been brought (elsewhere) against officers who have done it. BODY CAVITY SEARCHES HAVE ANOTHER NAME This conduct has another name. It’s spelled R-A-P-E. On June 21st, 21-year-old Charnesia Corley was pulled over at a Texaco gas station by a Harris County deputy, allegedly for running a stop sign. Corley is a young black woman, but in this case, it appears that race isn’t a significant factor. Texas police have a history of sexually abusing women, black and white, during traffic stops. The details of Corley’s stop are absolutely horrifying. The male deputy who made the stop claimed that he smelled marijuana. He put Corley into his cruiser and searched her car for an hour. Finding nothing, he called for two female deputies to assist in a search. None of the deputies involved have been named in news reports, mind you. Although a lawsuit will surely correct that problem, as it has in past cases. More about that later. THIS TOOK PLACE IN A GAS STATION PARKING LOT One of the female deputies ordered Corley to pull down her pants. The young woman objected because she was handcuffed and she wasn’t wearing underwear. The deputy ordered her to bend over anyway, pulled down her pants, and started to probe her vagina — in the Texaco parking lot. ... More here: Reverb Press

I think this can be cured by passing a law that wrongful search as above will result in loss of job, loss of all pensions, and accrued vacation time, plus a jail sentence.
Richard, do these cops tend to lose their jobs permanently?

I honestly don't know what happens to them.
I do know that they should not only lose their jobs... but they should also do time.

Should we assume from the phrasing that there are a lot more times when you are NOT glad you're not a woman in Texas?
Sorry. Had to.

For what it's worth, I'm glad you're not a woman in Texas, either

Oh wow. I hope this is a massive civil suit.
I don't know what the cops could have been thinking....

Well... anytime there's people wanting to take away women's rights... I'm glad I'm not a woman. And... anytime the religious nutjobs in power in Texas do stupid things (like re-writing history textbooks to bring them more in-line with the Bible)... I'm glad I'm not in Texas. So, yeah... there have been other times (I wouldn't say "a lot" of "other times"... but there have been other times). ETA: Pretty much all other times, I'm indifferent to being my gender or being where I happen to be. Except Southern Pride, of course, I'm never indifferent to that.

Are they just supposed to let her go knowing there is a small possibility she has a few grams of pot in her privates? The harm to society would be too risky- so says the drug war. These days she should be happy she wasn't killed for reaching for the officers gun while defending her vagina.
I believe this falls under rape by an authority figure- sure they can pat someone down for a weapons check, search pockets, obvious lumps in the pants- but anything internal needs a warrant doesn't it? It should. Not just some suspicion by a beat cop. I would sue the shit out of them.

At a minimum I would expect an invasive search to take place in the privacy of a sheriff's department interview room. Telling a woman to drop her pants and let someone finger her in a public parking lot is outrageous. I think those officers should be required to stand in front of the police station with their pants and underwear down around their ankles while someone prods them for about an hour, to see how they feel about having that done in public.
